1st time best experience 2nd time was a disappointment

1st house was an amazing experience that when we moved we decided to go with KB again. Bigger and more expensive. I wished we looked somewhere else because theres cracks everywhere. Water comes thru our door. Paint still on our carpet and floor. It has been a bad experience since day 1. From loan process to moving into home.

The initial process with KB Loan Officers and builder was unprofessional; consistently lacking in communication. Neither the loan officers or builder were on the same page on status or updates. The overall construction was okay but responsiveness needs improvement.

Great Sales/Finance Staff, Poor Quality Builder

Overall, very disappointed with our new home. Model homes look great, but the actual build on all the houses in our neighborhood are very poor quality. Cheap materials and even cheaper labor -- skill level of the contractors is abysmal. If you're looking for a quality home in the $325K+ range, look elsewhere.

KB Home responded:
Hi Robert, we are very sorry for any frustration with your home and materials. If you would like to speak with a representative, we can put you in touch with a manager to look into your concerns. Please feel free to e-mail CustomerRelations@kbhome.com for assistance. – Brian

Our sales Rep Warren was amazing. He kept us in the loop the whole process. He gets a 5 star. The lending/processor/underwriter were terrible. Lacked communication, follow up, made promises and commitments that were never kept. Do not use KBHS.

Sooo Many Issues!

Be sure to research the area your community is being or was built on. Get third party inspections cause the KB construction workers don’t take pride in there work. Keep a list of every repair and how long KB takes to fix it. Tiles started cracking in the second day of moving in the house. I been living here two months now and there are cracks all over the floors and walls in the house, not to mention varies other build issues. The construction manager will submit repair request for the first 45 days after you move in but after that good luck on getting anyone to come repair things. I ...

Looks pretty… but falls apart quickly

Buying this home is absolutely the biggest regret I have because it’s been nothing but constant headaches since the day I did my inspection. I was told when to schedule a third party inspection and both times the construction team was not prepared for it. I was told by the project manager that my expectations were to high and no house would ever be perfect, and I needed to have realistic expectations when trying to get the crooked wall, chunks of missing cabinets, and exposed nails fixed. I was told several times this is above model standard, yet I have no ability to do laundry, water sitting ...

DEALING WITH IT

The overall experience was a shade above terrible. As expected, the home took approximately 12 months from signing the contract to closing. For nearly 8-9 months we dealt with an unresponsive Construction Manager - named Scott and a similarly unresponsive Sales Rep named Bob (Ok. Bob was a tad-bit more responsive but very unreliable). Not only were they unresponsive, they were unclear in their communications creating much heartache and the potential loss of a sell. The only reason we remained on contract with the purchase of this home, is because of Brandon. Unbeknownst to us, Brandon was ...

My home took 14 months to "complete". I'm STILL missing a doorknob, but of the knobs I do have, 3 have randomly fallen off. The ENTIRE upstairs creaks incesantly. There is a crack in my ceiling, 2 doors don't close completely, water pools in the backyard, porch is missing bricks, roof has issues, siding, large space between the cabinet and wall, no caulking in areas, flooring is cut poorly (it doesn't even meet the wall in some areas). In the amount of time it took to complete this house, its shameful to have so many issues. But I digress... I'm actually really sad about thinking about ...

So we bought a house 7 Oct. we did not like the experience with KB. When they offered a high APR & wanted us to buy down the rate. We went to our lender that offered way lower APR but then KB wanted to match it but wanted my lender to do a promise letter. Neither lenders wanted to do this so this took up time. We had refused to go with KB if they were going to match it because of they could match it now then they could have matched it in the beginning. Unfortunately we had to go with KB because they refused to give us the $4000 rebate and closing cost. Then it was a rush to do the walk ...

Great floor plans...that's the only positive thing I can say. It took over a year from down payment to close for a 1647 sq ft single story house...which wasn't even totally complete when we moved in. This was my 4th new build and even the house built by a high school construction class was far superior in both materials and workmanship. Definitely would NOT recommend a KB home.

Hime looks nice but I wouldn't recommend a family or friend to KB HOME. Materials are cheap.. only been a month had to call for maintenance at at least 10 tomes. Walls feel cheap, boiler/Hot water went out 3 times. New floors I payed for out of POCKET have stains, Carpet is not installed correctly. When we did walked threw didn't really pay attention or can notice any of this until moving in. They installed cabinets doors month later. For a new home has roaches, spiders i don't know how and lots of ANTS I mean a lot... First day move in. Just over all horrible. Plus paying so much for ...

They're just trying to get you into a house

So if you're a 1st time homebuyer with no options, then this may be the right builder for you. Here's my process from beginning to end. Go into the sales office and take a look at the houses and decide if you want to buy or not. After that you get put on a waiting list where their mortgage officer takes at least a whole month to reach out to you after being told week after week from your sales rep that someone should be reaching out to you. Finally, the mortgage officer sees if you're qualified by giving you a ridiculous loan that sticks with you till closing day (so go with another lender). ...

Our dream home disaster

  • Michael S.

We closed in late September. That same weekend our entire kitchen and most of our LVP had to be ripped out because of water damage caused by a faulty dishwasher setup. We were in the house for nearly a month, then found out we had mold. We have since been removed from the home awaiting remediation. This has been an absolute nightmare, but we are working through the remaining issues. Additionally, the overall build quality was average at best with some areas still needing repairs or rework. All of this after almost two months after closing. I wouldn't do it again.

Disappointed after moving in

We have had so many issues after moving in with things that were not done correctly and are very disappointed with the unresponsiveness and unresolved issues. The workers have come to our house on four different occasions due to issues with the countertop and it is still not resolved. We have taken off work numerous times already and are extremely disappointed. We had such a great experience with the sales person as well as all the meetings prior to moving in that we thought it would continue.

Very Poor Customer Experience

Cursed is the first word that comes to mind. From the price of our plan dropping $10k right after we sign our contract and not receiving consideration for the immediate loss in equity, to a headless doll being hung in our home multiple times, to being lied to about structural integrity of brick lintel installed, to still waiting on a cabinet door from the 4th preclosing walk 38 business days ago, the experience was exhausting. If it wasn't for the specific lot we would never have persevered the journey. Our construction superintendent Scott did his best to improve our experience, but the ...
