The communication was horrible up and down. I am military and had to constantly ask to change my schedule because they were delayed. The flooring that is used in the house is horrible and whomever installed it did a bad job. I feel the house was a rush job. I don’t feel like the people that was involved with the paperwork were not on the same page with each other everyone lines were crashed as far as dates

Lennar responded:
Hi Stephanie, we are truly sorry for these negative experiences that you went through. We understand that communication is vital to ensure everyone is on the same page and we will be informing our leaders in this division about this to drive improvement. -Lennar Customer Care

Great home!.. on the surface

Let me preface this with this was our first homebuying experience. From the beginning, this process was a mess. We, along with our realtor, did a tour of the model home and from the start we loved what we saw given it was the model home with all the bells and whistles. We signed on our house around the middle of July with a completion date of late Nov. In the days leading up to our close date, we decided we would go with Lennar as the lender and builder - mostly because of their lender credits (which we found later to be honestly a complete joke and pretty much a net 0 let-down ...

Stay away from Lennar

I would never buy a house from Lennar again! Lennar cut every corner possible to increase their profit. My townhome in the Estuaries in Huntsville is missing drywall in a closet, paint is peeling from the walls, and they didn't install crown molding or kitchen pendent lights to cut costs even though they used pictures with crown molding and lights in the advertisement. Multiple cabinets are broken by what looks like someone standing on the edge of the cabinet. My neighbor's shower had mortar or concrete poured down the drain by the builder and had to have his entire shower plumbing ...

Lenders I worked with, (Jami in financing), rude and unprofessional. Building manager, (Tyler), (Natures Trail), makes promises that doesn't t come to fruition and loses key to home to my front door. Staff overall friendly, but once locked in, completely fade to 0. If Lennar wants to beat the competition, they should train their staff to be there for the customers even after the closing date.

Our home buying experience started off on the right track when Breland was still in charge. Shortly after we signed our first contract, Lennar took over and that’s when things hit the fan. Delays started happening, incorrect installations for upgraded materials we paid for, complete lies to try and scare us from fighting back, multiple project managers quitting like it’s a revolving door. Lennar isn’t a company I would ever build with again. We went into this process with an open mind and came out burned time and time again.

My Lennar loan officer lied about the incentive. It left a sour taste in our mouth. It was too late to walk away so we had already wrapped up at our previous place. It was not until we asked for final number (the breakdown for cash to close was not provided until we pressed for it) where the lie came out. It explained why they did not want to provide us with the number until the last second.

Lennar responded:
Thank you for sharing your feedback, Sara. We sincerely apologize for the negative experience you have had with your home purchase and are sorry that your experience did not meet your expectations.
Moving forward, If there are any outstanding warrantable issues, please submit a warranty request online through your Lennar Account. This ensures your request is documented and prioritized for a prompt resolution.

Lennar initially tried to sell the house 15k over price of the property advertised on THEIR website and did not honor that price. Furthermore, when the appraisal came back 15k under sale price they did not notify me and show me the appraisal even though that was part of the contract, I had to find out for myself a day before closing. I have been in the house for 6 weeks and still have warranty items open including a window that was not installed correctly with an inch gap at the top allowing water to come in. That being said, the construction manager is great; very friendly and very ...

Workmanship and customer service is awful. All they care about is getting the sale and not willing to make sure the customer doesn't regret dealing with them. Which I do! Buyer's Beware! If you are already locked into a sale, go thru the walk thru with a fine tooth comb, even if it takes all day. DO NOT CLOSE UNTIL YOU ARE CONFIDENT ALL ISSUES HAVE BEEN RESOLVED. Especially, crappy workmanship like trim work, painting, flooring, and insist they get all the paint splatter off the floors. If you find any of these things after closing you are crap out of luck getting them to fix it or ...

Good interest rate, poor construction

Lennar used a promotional interest rate of 4.75% to attract me to buying one of their homes, had i looked closer at the construction materials and methods I would have not purchased from them. It is a new construction spec house the fit and finish of the house is poor, the materials are contractor grade at best. Other than simple repairs, getting warrantee issues resolved is a challenge. I am still trying to resolve the grading issue in the back yard, every time it rains my patio accumulates about 1 inch of water. And the HOA is through Hughes properties, they are difficult at best to work ...

The house was supposed to be ready in September or early October but wasn’t finished until late December. The home is well made but the granite had a huge stain/black mark and we needed to get it replaced on our own, they said it was natural, even tho everyone that saw it said it was ugly. Also, I was told they would “make it happen” to get us a refrigerator and when it came time the agent said no. In the beginning I said we did not want to close in December as this was to be a rental and we wanted to rent it out in October. Our money was tired up for three extra months longer then we were ...

Didn't qualify due to not meeting the FHA requirement. I asked Lennar to send my Earnest money back. It has been weeks and still waiting. Only thing I got was they sent me a document to sign that said Refund back to buyer: $0, without any explanation. I did not sign it and am still waiting for my earnest money. The original house we got on contract for was not the house that was built. No drawers in any of the bathrooms, and not the kitchen cabinets that were in the home that we were told we were buying. We were not told about certain credit requirements for the interest rates until after we were under contract. We were told that we could not close in a certain month and then were rushed to close in that same month to get the home off of the books. The utilities were promised to be on at the time of the home inspection and were not on BOTH times the home was to be inspected. We finally had to back ...

LIED ABOUT THE FLOORING

There's a lot of little issues with the house, mostly cosmetic. The dishwasher door doesn't close it's scraping the top of the counter. There's a lot of shotty work. The door frames are about an inch from the floor so they just filled it in with caulk. The grout is like sand and it just dusts away when you clean, it it just comes out from in between the tiles.. several broke in half quarter round pieces that they just fixed it with caulk, one door frame is even made with two separate pieces of wood that they just poorly patched but my biggest problem is the fact that this house has laminate ...

Paid top dollar for a home that was seven months later than promised and not top notch in the least. Had to get Lennar leaders involved. Subcontractors are lacking. Finally got a new construction manager who is doing his best to fix all the issues, but you don't get what you pay for. Pool and community areas are likely another year before complete if we are lucky. Still get to pay HOA fees. A lot of over promising and under delivering.

I would’ve most certainly went with another lender if could redo our first home buying experience. Bad experience from start to finish with one positive experience in the middle. We have a Facebook group that’s specifically associated with our new Lennar online community and to be honest within this review, it’s been mostly shared experiences of mentally exhausted new home owners.

AVOID. I would strongly discourage anyone from considering this company for a home purchase - our initial experience with them was absolutely terrible. My husband and I were full of excitement about buying our first home, especially with a baby on the way, and the prospect of living near our friends. Unfortunately, dealing with them turned our dream into a nightmare. Right from the beginning, their responsiveness was abysmal - either taking forever to reply or not responding at all.
