Lennar Homes buying experience December 2022

Lennar's closing practices were deceptive. Placing typical seller expenses on the buyer as well as having buyer pay for water & sewer tap fees etc.

Bought a brand new house but received a house with a microwave that was not working and a lot of very imperfect blemishes to the craftsmanship.

The way the house is built, you’d think you were getting a $150k home but it costs you $300k+. Unfortunately the people doing the work do not care about their quality of work and unfortunately the Managers who are supposed to oversee the work are either not here or don’t have the experience to understand what’s wrong. We didn’t know the questions to ask but now that we know, we wouldn’t build with this builder again.

Lennar - We are happy to be in the home.

We are happy to be in the home. However, we feel that a lot of corners were cut and we are very disappointed. There are stains on my rugs, lots of imperfections, our railing on our staircase is dangerously sharp, and more. Worst is the lack of response to requests to get things taken care of. Would like to have things rectified prior to our one year mark!

The Lennar Experience

From the moment I signed and gave my deposit for my home I felt that it was one of the last lines of communication with Lennar without pulling teeth. The only time I received a call back was when they sent me a review. After moving in and doing a virtual tour It took over a month for anyone to respond after having to reach out yet again. I have family members that moved in over a year ago and they did not have the same experience. Lennar service has for sure decreased in quality and craftsmanship. The endless cement LUMPS that are under the carpet is ONE example of shoddy work done. I ...

The poor workmanship and how unprepared the house on final walk through. The workers had caulk all over the house that still remains, wiring was incomplete and they did a bad job on the screened in porch.

Beware, many homes in our development have had serious plumbing issues and we are hoping we wont have the same. They rush to finish these houses that are there are too many issue with craftsmanship. Customer service has been slow to react due to staffing issues.

The amount of options included in the build is amazing. Crown molding. Wood floors. Windows everywhere. Square footage.

The home itself is beautiful and the quality is impressive and everything we wanted. The buying and financing process was a non stop headache of poor communication and blatant deception. Supply chain issues and construction delays are very difficult to handle especially since they are not properly communicated. Waited 4 weeks for an essential steel beam to be delivered just to wait two more weeks for work to start again after delivery. Throughout that entire time the Lennar team blatantly lied about delays and timelines. We love our finished home. Would not recommend anyone building a new ...

Lennar responded:
Hi Jeremy, thank you for this review. We would like to apologize for the poor communication you were provided during the building of your new home. We are sorry for the frustrations and headaches these delays must have caused. If you have anything that still needs attention, please send us a note at corporatecustomercare@lennar.com and we will follow up. - Lennar Customer Care

The home was rushed to complete before the end of February 2022 so that Lennar could pump up delivery reports to shateholders

There were too many defects and incomplete issues with the home when we had a 2 hour orientation. Instead of being able to pay attention to the orientation we spent the time placing blue tape and could’ve used many more hours. One the final acceptance walk a week later it was better but still needed more than the 2 hours allocated to mark. Issues. It was clear that Lennar project managers failed to provide quality control of their vendors and also failed to inspect and make punch lists before we inspected the home expecting Us to do that. We provided 3 weeks full access to the home for ...

Lennar responded:
Hi David, thank you for this detailed review. We appreciate you taking the time to detail your experience. We are both sorry and disappointed to hear about the ongoing incomplete items from your orientation that are being addressed well after closing. If there are any items that remain outstanding, please reach out to us at corporatecustomercare@lennar.com and we will follow up. - Lennar Customer Care

If possible monitor your home being built from start to finish. Look closely at your walk through - there are lots of discrepancies to pick out as the contractors used during the home build are not attentive to detail.

Ask numerous questions and don’t assume anything. It is a process that needs to be heavily involved with decisions made, and read all materials available to know exactly what you are purchasing. It is not as easy as they claim it to be. Highly suggest home inspections prior to settlement.

Closing Day

  • John D.

Worst closing day experience that I have had with a new home. There were numerous unfinished and non-corrected items in the home. The home was not cleaned! Sheetrock dust and dirt on the floors and counters/cabinets. The hot water heater over-flow pan was full of water. I spent a few hours going through the home with Tom pointing out the issues. I would have postponed the closing but I had a number of scheduled deliveries for that day. There are still a number of these noted items today that have not been corrected. The closing day should be a happy/positive time. My was a very stressful ...

The lack of attention to detail in the new build is disappointing.

We purchased a spec home, so, we had no choice in our finishes. We wanted to push settlement by two weeks which Lennar would not allow. However, when we settled there were many items not finished in the property. They could have used the two weeks to complete the work. The painting, caulking, tile work etc. were not professionally done. Our contractor who we met at the final walk through was good. He was responsive and helpful. However, there are several items that were on the list to be completed or replaced that have not been completed. We have been here for 4 months.

Will never buy from them again for the infinite problems in every house they built in the neighborhood. Poor construction quality. Poor responsiveness. They don’t take responsibility and divert it up and down the chain.

Lennar - Never again.

Never again. Nightmare of an experience. Been 6 months and still waiting for repairs to be done from our walkthrough 1 week before settlement. HOA office is a joke, we pay all this money and they wanna keep raising the monthly fees. It dont want to address the real issues going on in the development. Already looking to move in the next year or 2 hopefully.

Lennar responded:
Hi Rebecca, thank you for providing this feedback about the outstanding items in your new home, as well as your concerns with the HOA. We are sorry to hear that you have not had a pleasant experience. Please email us at corporatecustomercare@lennar.com if you would like to provide any additional detail, so we can follow-up for you. – Lennar Customer Care
