Disappointed

Lennar closes on properties way before they are ready. Many kitchen cabinets were damaged, drywall, painting and stucco was very sloppy, back lanai was never put on until a month after closing and half the electrical outlets don’t work. The list goes on. The repairs are being addressed fairly quickly but is a slow process as each repair is a different tradesperson. It appears to be a fairly well built home but the quality of their workmanship in their finished product is lacking.

Closing was delayed three times. There's no coordination between the closing department and the sales/construction people. There are still a couple of outstanding issues from closing 6 weeks ago. The pool heater has never worked and it's a ridiculous length of time to get service.

Lennar responded:
Hi Douglas, thank you for taking time to share a review. We are both sorry and disappointed to hear about your experience during the buying process and lack of urgency you have faced with item resolution. Disappointed by the purchase process

  • Daniel L.

Our purchase was marred by the end of the process. The walk through (via video) was impossible because so many things had not been completed (carpet not installed, appliances not in place, cabinet hardware not installed, no shower enclosure, heating and air not operational and so on). How does the builder expect a customer to close under those conditions? They should not. The closing was driven by the builder's fiscal quarter end and not the satisfactory completion of the unit. Something is wrong when they're still painting the interior even after closing. To satisfy shareholders in the ...

Lennar - You use by far the cheapest products from appliances to folding

You use by far the cheapest products from appliances to folding doors Worst of all is the exhaust vents on the roof. When the wind blows the flapper inside bangs and bangs. I’ve looked at a sample vent and it is cheap cheap cheap With no real fix Mgmt tells me to but my own and install it Wow I won’t recommend your product in the future

Lennar responded:
Hello Robert, thank you for writing this review. We want to apologize for the difficulties you have experienced with your appliances, doors, and exhaust vents. Just weeks after moving in all nine upper kitchen cabinets came loose from wall and exploded when they hit the floor.....glass flew to every corner of lower level. All dishes shattered!!! Small grandkids had just finished making breakfast on counter below cabinets and would have been seriously insured or worse! Lennar found that all cabinets were screwed into wallboard/paper only!

Experience with work completion dates, delayed closing dates to quality of work has been sub par. Our independent realtor has been fantastic and guided us through the entire process based on prior experiences. We are in the warranty period with a number of issues needing to be addressed. The verdict is still out on this process.

Lennar responded:
Good afternoon Don, we appreciate you for sharing your feedback with us. We apologize for any negative experience you may have encountered. If there are still any unresolved issues that you feel you need help with, please do not hesitate to reach out to us at LennarCares@Lennar.com. We will gladly follow up with you.

Expect to be frustrated going through the process. Lennar mad us close on our house before it was ready - the finance people must run the show. They somehow got the CO but our AC didn't work, we had missing drawers, a vent cover, the pool didn't work, missing tile, a warped wall, and more. I asked them to redo many areas of trim and the redo was worse than the original. The subs are not really skilled craftsmen so expect a lot of uneven, misaligned, or warped areas. They do respond to warranty request if you are willing to put a lot of work into submitting, tracking, scheduling, and ...

Pushed through the process by Salesperson like cattle at the “sale call”. Home incomplete, pushed to sign off on multiple incomplete items. Financing process tedious beyond acceptable. Only bright spot of the process is the Superintendent in charge of “punch out” process is apparently the only person in the Corporate machine that cares!

Two weeks before closing, we walked through and discussed the defects that needed to be addressed. (We also missed several defects). We walked through on closing day and not one single thing on that list was fixed. As for warranty issues it seems that once we are told “that’s normal”, even though it is not normal. That’s it, no recourse.

Lennar responded:
We are sorry to hear about your experience throughout the walkthrough process and after closing on your new home. We understand you may have some issues that need resolving. To ensure the quickest resolution please submit the details using the warranty request form in your Lennar account.

We moved in and it wasn’t ready. I kept asking are we still closing end of May, is it done and was told yes and in fact it was not. We have been here since end of May and things still need done. They are getting down slowly. It would have saved a lot of headache for us, if it was done prior to move in. Fortunately, my husband works from home, so he can be here when people come to fix things. We paid almost a quarter of a million dollars for this brand new house and don’t feel we should be going thru this hastle.

Aside from Arthur R., our salesperson, who was wonderful to work with, the rest of the process of acquiring our veranda was not a pleasant experience. Shotty workmanship, rushing to get us closed when the condo was far from being ready, lack of communication, no followup with items needing attention, and more than anything, the mortgage process was so frustrating! even getting the closing paperwork by mail was a problem. Having been in real estate, buying and selling new homes as well as resale properties for more than 35 years, and helping folks with their mortgages, we must say that this ...

There is a lack of pride in workmanship and construction of my home that shows in every level. i feel like i have been robbed. buying a new home is supposed to be a happy once in a life time experience, instead i am spending every day trying to have too many things replace or repaired. on a positive note, the warranty department is excellent and is working hard to rectify all issues.

Closing was delayed many times. Last time delay was the day before closing and being out of state we had no place to go. It seems once you had the money, we had wired full payment 2 weeks before closing, that's all you care about. Lennar Wanted documents signed when items were not complete, just trust them. Closed in February still have a check list of items not completed. Amenities still not complete but HOA fees are still collected.

The construction process was very poor with poor quality observed in multiple areas. Although our construction manager was very helpful after closing, it was obvious that he had little or nominal control over the process. Quality control check points need to be established to enhance the customer experience and improve overall quality of the home

The house is beautiful, but overall the finish touches of the houses are not very well done. So many cosmetics issues. But our really bad issue is that since we move to the house the refrigerator is not working properly, I am been calling Electrolux and I am been here for almost 2 months and the part is not coming yet. The wait calls to get a hold of a agent is always around an hour, and is a company on the side that is the one that I have to deal. From the drywall to the outside of the house, the workmanship is far below standard. Example: Outlet covers that fall off when you put in a plug. I can't believe I paid this kind of money for the value of the workmanship. Many corrections still not completed after almost two months living in the house.
