Not impressed.

Closed on the home with items still outstanding. Assurances given that all would be taken care of in short order. Not to delay the closing and moving plans, etc. we went ahead and closed. Now we still have outstanding items, no contact with our superintendent who conveniently leaves a message on his voicemail that he does not check voice mail messages, and to email instead. Turns out, he does not respond to emails either. Felt very rushed to close, then they vanish. Not impressed and not happy overall.

Lennar responded:

My whole experience was disheartening.

False advertising about when amenities would be complete (that was a huge selling point for my family), their financing dept. (Eagle Home Mortgage) was horrible, horrible job on my kitchen back splash (it looks like I did it) and they pretty much keep you out of the loop on any changes (like us not having our pool, playground, etc until next year). They actually told a perspective buyer (that I referred) not to tell me about the amenities not going in! Luckily she told me and I called afterwards, total surprise to me. The people are nice to keep you “happy” but my overall experience was ...

We payed for a premium lot size and found out after closing when we went install a fence that we are missing 10 ft of side yard. After doing some research, this is a common complaint for Lennar and there is nothing you can do about it except make sure you have the land surveyed prior to the start of your build.

Lennar responded:
Thank you for your comments and I'm sorry to hear of your concern. I would like to look into this further for you and ensure it gets addressed by management. Please send us and email to corporatecustomercare@lennar.com with your concern, contact information and home address.

So Disappointed

We built the new “everything’s included” home. Sounded like such a great thing. In order to get and “everything’s included” home, they cheat everywhere they can. Downstairs cabinets have soft close hardware. Get upstairs, not included. Plastic faucet upstairs on an upgraded laundry room. Only one hearing/air vent for the entire kitchen, living room, entryway. Upstairs is so hot and downstairs is freezing. Workmanship is poor. So many thing have had to be fixed already. Carpet is so cheap. We’ve been in the home 4 months and the carpet looks like it is 10 years old. Terrible, ...

I love the floor plan for my home but the customer service after I moved into my home has been horrendous!! I've not seen nor heard from the person who walked me through my home since he asked for a five star rating while delivering 1 star service. They've not followed up to get all the items from the original list nor address the ones I've added since the move. The quality of the flooring and cabinets is not worth the money charged! Most of the workmanship and material are decent quality but not to the standards expected at this price point. The most offensive actions is the decision to ...

Terrible workmanship. A lot of switcheroos.

The person who sold us the home told us many false things to make the sale. There are a lot of things that were changed out during the process to a lower quality. However, our house price did not change. The quality is awful and we have had to spend the first 60 days reaching out to Airtron, GE, Lennar, etc. to get things fixed. Not very enjoyable when you’re trying to move into a house and unpack boxes. The sad thing is we have plenty more, that will be done at the 12 month mark. This is the third house that we have built and has been by far our worst experience.

Lennar responded:
Good afternoon Julie, thank you for your sincere review. We sincerely apologize for the issues you experienced with your home and for any delays in resolving them. I have shared your comments with upper management for further review. Sincerely, Lennar Corporate Customer Care

Lowest quality home we've ever lived in

While the people that work at Lennar have been nice and ok to work with, the quality of the home simply is not there -- especially for the price. This is hands down the lowest quality home we have ever lived in despite it being the most expensive we have ever purchased. If there was a cheaper material to be purchased or a corner that could be cut, Lennar took it. Sadly we are not happy in our brand new home and do not recommend purchasing from Lennar.

Lennar responded:
Good afternoon Matthew, we are sorry to hear the quality of your home did not meet your expectations.
We hope to be able to offer you a good homeowner's experience. If there are any general questions or warrantable issues, please do not hesitate to contact us by submitting a warranty request online through your Lennar Account. Beautiful homes with terrible finishes! There is no attention to detail. The skill level of the workers working on these homes is not great, to say the least. The drywall, paint and trimwork are the worst finishes. Lennar should have a better oversight of their contractors/subcontractors/sub-subcontractors. I hope this helps a potential buyer decide.

What would I like other homebuyers to know about our experience... remove any emotion for the initial decision-making process and talk to the people that currently live in the development that you are looking at. If we would have done that, we probably would not have purchased the house that we did. Multiple people in our community have experienced or are experiencing what we are going through with the lack of workmanship, pride in their product, and responsiveness to issues. This was evident with the lack of communication and responsiveness through the building process, not having ...

Unprofessional and poor quality

Overall, the building experience was very unprofessional and done with poor quality. There were several damages on the bathtub, refrigerator, dirt that was not cleaned, almost all kitchen cabinet doors were damaged and poorly repainted. There had to be constant pressure on them for it to be done correctly. Poor craftsmanship was present. They pushed that they be paid even when the unit was not ready.

The overall experience was far from a positive one. Our front door was hung backwards. SEVERAL doors were not level and wouldn't close correctly / lock. The electrician they selected to do our home was HORRIBLE. He made too many mistakes. SEVERAL light switches were installed in the wrong places. Smoke detectors and light fixtures falling from the walls / ceilings. DOZENS of nail pops on day of move-in, yet we were told to wait for more to pop-up before having them repaired. Roof installed incorrectly. Bath drain not sealed resulted in water leaking through the ceiling. Wrong shower installed ...

I have not had a good experience at all. First they will send a very strick/condescending message that this has to be done in a week - this and that. When on says I will back off, they become very polite again. They push and force their lending agency. The Lennar title add some bloated changes the day of closing and then called a week later for some other bloated charge that they wanted to collect more. So, overall I feel I cannot trust them.

Lennar has absolutely no control, whatsoever, over their subs who eat food and leave food scraps on the floor, ketchup on the new woodwork, and the paint sub dragged their muddy boots all over the brand new carpet at the most critical time just days before closing. Lennar, however, would not do a complete carpet replacement, even though those same boots made God only knows how many trips across the street to the disgusting disease-ridden port-a-let.
