Disappointed
- MATTHEW P.

There seem to be a lot of problems with these Lennar townhomes such as the cheap materials and bad workmanship. Cheap flooring, carpet coming apart, floor squeaking, paint overspray, ceiling uneven, bad HVAC work. The caps in the streey for the water are broken off and not replaced so there are big holes in the road where someone could step into. A lot of neighbors were lied to about the neighborhood including myself, we were told there would be no building behind our homes to block the mountain view which why i purchased here.

My home was built using lock luster effort. Everything from the materials and attention to detail is lack luster. My home is falling apart with so many defects that I have marked. I have purchased from every major builder before and Lennar doesn’t even earn a spot at the table in my opinion…

the floors of the interior of the house unevenly and noisy when walking like squealing wood, doors without finish, the handrails of the stairs without fine finish, rather scratchy and unpolished or varnished, sliding doors that get stuck because of the poorly installed, and worst of all is that to attend a claim, The owner has to accept the time and days so that they go do the work that should be done before selling the house, and even so they go and leave the work unfinished.

Kara and Peggy in the sales office are BEYOND responsive and kind! They updated me every step of the way and demonstrated keen responsiveness to all my questions and were flexible and patient. Construction manager Mike also very amicable! Business office that dealt with the loan portion was a headache but all in all I got where I needed to be and LOVE my new home so far!
Lennar responded:

My experience with Lennar was less than exciting and fun. However, I am Very pleased with my home. There were delay after delay. There were a few people trying to push and help but at times it seems that I was told things to quiet me. My overall experience was not fun and took the excitement away from the experience of home buying. The seller agent that was on sight? I barely heard from and I had to contact her for questions. Just a mess. But Overall I am happy with my home after waiting to close after a year and six months wait.

Great home design but very poor workmanship
- Ricky M.

The overall design and architecture of the home is great. However, the workmanship and installation of materials in almost every area is substandard. Especially for a price point nearing $800,000.

I did not have a great experience with the sales office. There were many errors in the beginning. Also, I think some need more customer service training on how to answer questions. I was consistently told Lennar has all the control; the buyer doesn’t have a say. It’s very disheartening when you hear that over and over. The construction people were awesome!!!

Buying a home can be a stressful experience, but with Lennar specifically you’re in for a wild ride, and I don’t mean in the fun way. Be prepared to receive an unfinished product, and be forced to close regardless. Be prepared for lack of knowledge of what Lennar even offers via sales consultant and lack of work ethic and cooperation. After the hurricane that was getting this home, 5 months later I can finally say it is a finished, beautiful product after many warranty claims, some of which are still unfinished. But the process in and of itself was a nightmare by most parties (they have ...

I purchased this home due to hot market and inflation. I couldn’t pick out my own options. Ok, fine. Their construction managers were the worst to dealt with. I had to go to their managers to get approval for everything. Their professionalism made my home buying experience a nightmare. On top of that, too many things were wrong with the house prior to settlement. After settlement, moved in and found more issues with the house. Construction manager did not get a lot of it fixed. However, Lennar send a customer care representative down to assist me and she’s wonderful. The loan officer was also ...

The Lennar Experience

The Lennar experience can be broken into a couple categories: buying and construction. The buying experience was frustrating and unprofessional. Our home delivery was delayed by 6 months, and the permit process was out of Lennar’s control, but the communication breakdown was unprofessional. We changed our point of contact four times, and were left in the dark unless we reached out for updates. We could anticipate that the home-building process may get pushed to the right, but the lack of communication was downright awful. The lack of communication and misguidings by Lennar was ...

Truth be told I went with Lennar because of all of the in-home design options they offered. After touring the staged homes, it took 3 attempts at getting a home because Lennar's internet sales team and new home sales team were not in sync on new customer appointments, therefore they were selling homes to people who did not have an appointment, even though I scheduled an appointment twice with them . Fast forward, on my third attempt I finally was able to pick my lot, but after doing so they told me the particular home build wasn't available on most of there lots, and the one that was ...

Lack of quality in workmanship (paint, alignment, quality finishes, etc)
- Alan L.
- Verified HomeBuyer
- April 20, 2021
- Gaithersburg, MD
It doesn't appear that the construction team did a quality check/inspection on all the sub-contractor work. Since we moved in this past January, we have had several visits from contractors to repair/finish work that should've been completed before closing. Cracks in windows, unfinished paint jobs, drywall issues. It is very noticeable to see the poor workmanship and lack of quality in how the work was supervised. We were not expecting to have all these issues within the first three months of living in a brand new home.
Lennar responded:
Hi Alan, thank you for sharing this review. We apologize for the frustrations you have expressed regarding the quality of workmanship in your home. Sub-par engineering, construction supervision and quality of workmanship. Lack of diligent workmanship is a reflection of the builder's rush to complete home construction without paying attention to detail and pride in work quality. Customer service is wanting and repeated subcontractor visits are required to rectify mistakes/blunders.

In the 5 short months that I have lived in my home I have had to have several contractors back out to fix things that I feel you should not have to fix in less than 5 months. My hardwood floors have a gab that can easily be seen and collects crumbs and other debris that im told is an acceptable gab but looks horrible. And now I have a second location just not as bad as the first. I have an doorway that meets with the ceramic tile that hurts your feet if you step on it that does not get a transition plate due to the house not being DESIGNED with one. The sales team was helpful and knowledgeable until the contract was signed. After signing their ability to respond to emails and provide answers suddenly disappeared. The construction management team was frequently dismissive about concerns and condescending in their responses. After closing, the entire Lennar team was slow to accept responsibility for workmanship and warranty issues that arose while Lennar was still in possession of the house but were not discoverable until after we moved in. Overall a poor experience with Lennar. The home itself is decent and has met expectations, but ...

A Production Home

To be fair to the builder, my ratings above are based on not having experienced having a production home built for me. I was expecting some interaction with the builder during the construction process: there was effectively none, it was discouraged. I believe to have a better understanding now why that is the case. Lennar does not build the home; one of the many subcontractors do in a very organized, time efficient manner. However, I believe the quality of materials and, particularly, workmanship suffer. The priority for Lennar is to bring the house to closure as soon as possible. The ...

There were several challenges from the very beginning and it took 2 years for Lennar to deliver our home. I can understand that there was a county approval delay and supply chain issues but we didn't have enough transparency through out the process and were left hanging. There were items like soft close toilets mentioned in the data sheet but was not provided and when asked they said they had the right to change and it was a misprint. We got a connected home which is a nice feature although it was in the print, but were told was not available but we ended up getting it. Our neighbors got to ...

The Poor Workmanship/materials drown out the great customer service

Poor Workmanship/materials drown out the great customer service. Elina (sales agent) was fantastic, upfront, overly accommodating, and honest. However, I feel like I bought a used house and paid new house pricing. Simple things such as light switches not aligning, cracked/ damaged tile used, tile alignment causes overhangs. I could already see drywall screws through mud and paint, chipped light fixtures, terrible caulking jobs. The list goes on and on. I am not happy with my purchase, and I made this clear to Lennar in other surveys. I am hoping they redeem themselves in the 1 year fix. ...

1. Seller did not allow me to buy a home without signing Solar roof agreement. I was left with only two options, buy or sign for 20/20 plan. 20/20 plan is a hoax. ”First 20” indicates that it is a 20 year agreement. “Second 20” indicates 20% reduction in price per unit solar energy consumed from roof. In fact, instead of getting benefit, I am paying ~30% more per unit as compared to local grid. Furthermore, Solar billing is weird. They do not provide details of solar energy consumed but they charge for consumption. In other words, I am paying twice on solar energy I consumed (to local grid ...

My closing day was, to say the least, pretty unenjoyable. I arrived at the Lennar office and was greeted by the notary agent. Upon completion of signing my documents, I was given my keys and shown the door to leave. I imagined as a first time homebuyer with a company that’s been around for some time, there would be a more memorable experience for clients, wether a first or tenth time homebuyer. Needles to say I am very uncertain if I would use or suggest going with Lennar in the future.
