Lennar - The house itself is great but the buying experience was difficult.

The house itself is great but the buying experience was difficult. There was a 1 month delay in closing and when I requested to change lenders (more than 1 month before the new close date) I was denied and told I would lose the house if I changed lenders. This made the process more difficult because Lennar Mortgage was the absolute worst part of my buying experience.

Workmanship of the home could have been much better not so impress on how it was put together. Found to many defects backyard could have been leveled much better etc. Eagle Mortage office set me up for failure, informing and was written on my contract that HOA was paid monthly then I get a bill from spectrum stating I had a balance and a late payment fee added to my bill of $40. Spectrum has informed me HOA is paid annually. This could have been avoided if I was given proper instructions. Eaglemortage should be liable for the late fee, since I was not at fault. Communication with the buyer ...

We had a very long drawn out purchasing experience through the loan application, both the FHA and Lennar’s conventional loan people. They were very impatient when they wanted information but otherwise slow in keeping us informed as to what was happening. They asked for information that was none of their business and eventually told me that if I did not give them the information that the loan would not be approved. This process took weeks. I went to a bank and got an approval with 4 days. After move in, I (a former builder) found that there were house framing studs missing in places where it ...
Lennar responded:
Thank you for sharing your experience, Larry. We are sorry to hear that your homebuying process did not meet your expectations.
We also regret to hear that concerns about the framing were found after move-in. We encourage you to reach out to your local Customer Care Team by submitting any warrantable concerns through your Lennar account. Bought a new home for my mother. Nice house but appraisal was far below the list price causing me to have to Mortgage insurance. The Mortgage company was horrible to deal with. Lied at every turn. Had to use an outside lender to get the deal done. Would never work with Lennar Mortgage company. Had a few cosmetic issues with the house that were fixed immediately.

Overall, my wife and I love our new home. But buyer beware, the sheetrock, painting and trim work sucks. Never realized we had to get our own garage door opener. Was told garage was paint ready, it's not. it's primer ready at best. Between giving first and second deposit, garage floor developed cracks. Was told it was within Lennar's tolerances, lol. It's not within mine. Lennar did put down an epoxy floor when I was ready to walk away from the deal. We were told the pool would be ready in April, not looking like it at this point. It was a total joy working with Chris J in the Lennar mortgage ...

Over all not great home buying experience. Customer service wasn’t great during purchase time. There was not much support in choosing option. Was rushed into everything. Home built is good but experience through out the process is very unfriendly. They just want to build home like factory and no respect or care for someone’s expectations and feelings who is spending 100s of thousands of dollars.

I purchased my home by the help of a virtual assistant (young eyes) and showed it was spacious, had a nice yard and the price range was good, but little did I know after moving, that this home was not meant for seniors/retirees due to the fact in order to replace the a/c filter you would need to pull down a step ladder, adjust it to secure it’s locked then climb up to the attic in order to replace the a/c filter. It’s just a matter of time before an accident occurs. There are drafts from the doors and windows, you can see the caulk is cracking by the walls of the kitchen counter. if I had ...

The Lennar team was really nice during the purchase process. It was too much electronic signing, not enough explanation of the entire process. At least with in person, paper signing of closing documents, important pages were explained. I got zero explanation of what I signed, no time to read through everything. About a month after I closed, I texted a member of the sales team and the reply I got was not very nice. The reply was, “this number is not a good contact number now.” It was a weekend day when I reached out to this person and I just feel like as a member of the Lennar team, this ...

This is the 3rd Lennar home we have purchased. The first two homes were well built, the purchase process was easy and the limited warranty work was done well. This time the process was much more stressful. First, we were not allowed to use our Realtor due to some rule that we had used a different one with Lennar in the past. This made the process much more difficult for us. Second strike was the inability of our sales person to respond to us. Once we signed the contract, we were dead to her. After the sale, the person who was supposed to be a liason would never answer calls and always ...

We had many issues closing the loan even when I had over 80% down. The issue was nobody within the multiple Lennar divisions (builder, title and loans) knew who owned getting the Spousal waiver signed off. As a result, my ex had to sign through a virtual notary 4 times. This caused delays in closing which cost me $100s in rescheduling fees not to mention that they had my $1M that should have been earning $150 a day in interest for almost 2 weeks. That is almost $1000 that I will never see. As for build quality, there are many design flaws that are having to get fixed: - pathways to side ...

There is much to say about the home buyer process that I have learned and thanks to Lennar, that was possible, but not in the way you may think. Firstly, Lennar prices and financing sell their houses, not their warranty, not the customer services, not their knowledge, nor the company itself really. Since Lennar Mortgage, Builders, and Title are all "separate" companies, this allows them to give you the run around and waste time on inquiries and questions you may have. Or if something is wrong in a document, they will say its the other company when truly it's one company masquerading as 3 ...

My experience was ok. My home is wonderful. Even though it was delayed by water issues. My biggest complaint about my home buying experience is my lawn is horrible. The lawn was put in with no water and now it’s dead. By the time I’m finished getting it right I will have spent a ton of money for something that should have been done correctly to start by Lennar. An absolute travesty.

All representatives for Lennar were great. The exception is the loan process. I understand policy and procedures. But the lack of attention to detail and accountability caused a lot of stress. My loan was approved the day before I had to vacate my apartment and started my new job. The overall experience was on par with most mid-range builders. The one strange item and I wasn't told about this until we were getting ready to move in. Was that the window screens were not included. For an entire house of half screens is less than $300. It's very strange for a home that's almost $300,000 to not include the screens.
