Good builder, TERRIBLE MORTGAGE COMPANY

  • David B.

  • Maiden, NC

The aboslute worst Mortgae experience in my 76 years. I have owned and applied for mortgages on 9 homes. This company does not know what they are doing. Buyer beware... I have an 844 credit score, and hundreds of thousands in liquid assets and the Mortgage "agents" made the process extremely time consuming and painful...Asking for the same documentation MULTIPLE TIMES...Potential buyers seek your mortgage elsewhere!!!~

Lennar responded:
Thank you for providing your feedback. We are sorry to hear that the mortgage process was difficult for you. We will use this feedback to continue to try to improve our process. I hope you are enjoying your new home and we appreciate you being a Customer of Lennar.

Lennar lies

Lennar lies and has poor planning. Throughout the buying process, Lennar promised that there’d be landscaping by Lennar or the HOA in a certain key area that was influential in our buying decision. After taking possession of the house, Lennar deflected to the HOA. The HOA which is owned by Lennar outright refused any landscaping. The area in question remains rocks and trash - a permanent blemish on the neighborhood. Due to poor planning by Lennar, 2 months after moving into this house we still don’t have mail service. Since Lennar is building by the mailbox still, it is expected that we ...

The closing date was delayed badly with potential loss more than $1200, we understand the challenges with the solar vendor change and asked for compensation, it was agreed during the closing process. However, once the house is closed, I was told since the deal is close, they do not think they need to honor what they promised for compensation. So disappointed

The home itself, as of today, is a solid house. Do the cabinet doors sit at slightly different heights? Yes. Are some of the angles a little off? Sure. But totally within the price expectations. However, the communication and process was terrible. Delays, failure to communicate said delays until 3 days before closing, no one seems to have answers and half the people I talked to took a while to get back to me, if at all. Glib company line apologies didn't do much to improve it. Worth it? Because i'm here already, absolutely. Would I do this again? No thanks.

Was not made aware of lack of cable and fiber optic prior to contract. Hoses and sprinkler system was left behind after sale. Underground sewage drain pipe was cracked, before we moved in. not have HOA management contact info. Attorneys selected by Lennar didn't calculate the correct funds needed at closing, so we had to return later to sign another document and bring more money.

I just purchased my brand new house in Stone Manor last month and the AC is not working, the roof is leaking at the front door, there is a yellow stain at the wall by the entrance door and there is an electrical switch that is catching on fire when you turn it on. No garbage bin

Well when signing the papers they had one that was a charitable contribution that was going to come out of my pocket when I sold that. I refuse to sign it and sent it in as decline. 2 weeks later I'm in the moving van heading to unpack my truck when I get a call. You're not going to give me my keys unless I sign that paper. The solar panel the company that they use filed for chapter 13. I pay for the solar panel I did not lease them. I've been in this house for 2 months now and I still do not have my solar panels connected or turned on. When asked when I'm going to get them activated I get ...

Our welcome to the community began with not being able to find our keys the day we arrived here from Michigan. It went south from there. Very slow response to any contacts we made. We asked about some electrical work being done and were told we had to get it taken care of ourselves. So we asked (at least three times) if someone could refer us to a local electrician. That was in July—still no referrals. In short, we felt and still feel very ‘unwelcome’ and would not suggest friends and family follow in our footsteps.

Lennar kept me in the dark the entire process, only to allow my escrow to fall past closing date twice, inwhich later I decided to go with a different lender which got me approved within 5 days. This was absolutely no fault of my own or from not providing documentation requested. I was beyond responsive and provided everything they asked for timely. I was pre approved and nothing in my circumstances had changed. I’m beyond frustrated with Lennar mortgage and will not recommend using them as a lender. Our initial contact with Lennar salesperson, Crystal began well. We provided Crystal what we were looking for and we were interested in the house. She provided us with the cost of the house and an interest rate of 3.99%, which was an offer by Lennar. As we went through the loan process, I was expecting that rate, knowing my excellent credit rating. I discovered it was not the case. Post-Contract Experience with Home Purchase and Lennar Mortgage

While the initial contract and purchase process went smoothly, everything afterward was frustrating and poorly managed. Loan Application & Closing: The loan process lacked transparency and responsiveness. Confirming the closing date and time was unnecessarily stressful. The final walk-through and communication with the title agent felt rushed and unprofessional. At closing, I was given little to no information regarding the builder warranty—something that should have been clearly communicated. We were already renting in the community so we knew what style house we wanted and were pretty particular on color and location. Our sales director was amazing, he kept us posted on everything and helped to get our house color changed even after they originally said no. Dealing with the mortgage coordinator then was a challenge. She would request information and if you asked a follow up-it would be days before a response. I don’t know where to start here. They use the cheapest labor. Cheapest parts. We moved into our home, and our home received 0 internet signal (we pay through our hoa). Cheap siding that had fallen off more than once. Then the people who fix it, leave white caulking on the side of the house and expect you to file claims to get it fixed. We choose a lot and purchased a Lennar home to be built for us in early November 2024 and then closely monitored and videoed the entire build. We are left disappointed with the construction workmanship, much of which took place during the winter. The concrete for the foundation and floors was poured in sub-zero temperatures with inadequate freeze protection with constantly failing heaters allowing the concrete to freeze in early curing stage leaving questionable quality. Roof ice shield installed over snow on the sheeting in temps so cold there was no adhesion at all. Windows and doors ...

I would like to express my concerns regarding my experience throughout the home buying process, from signing the contract to closing. I strongly recommend thoroughly reviewing your contract before submitting earnest money, as once signed, withdrawal is impossible. I felt pressured to sign and pay before fully understanding the contract terms, which I now regret. The beginning of my homebuying experience was exciting and smooth — choosing the house and putting the money down was easy. However, once it came time to close, things took a frustrating turn. Communication from the closing department became nearly nonexistent, making what should have been a celebratory time stressful and uncertain. If you're considering buying a home from Lennar, let me offer you a word of caution: proceed with eyes wide open.
