My experience buying a new home

It took forever to get my closing amount I needed to bring. My closing date was moved 3 times. I received a phone call at around 8pm on a Saturday night to try to seta closing for Monday. The finishing detail work was at a level that moost companies would fire someone for.

This was the single most stressful situation of my life with next to no help from the builder/lender/title company (Lennar in all instances). My husband does not do email or anything electronically, so I had to do it in both our names. We decided the day before Thanksgiving that we wanted to buy the house. They called me and told me the initial loan application must be submitted before midnight in order for them to honor our agreed purchase price. I spent hours online trying to do that. I had the original contract to purchase 205 Donnington Dr Hutto TX 78634 for $324,700. There was some issue identified, during the process of purchase.. I was stuck on multiple issues on post inspection.. were worried to move forward. The builder without acceptance of refund or acceptance in signature. Cancelled the contract. Later one week esclated and reengaged in contract for same home with $15,000 penalty higher in price, its sold to me at $339,750. Now this situation is escaltaed to local attorney, I am in process of court action and serve notice to Lennar in middle of Feb26.

The home itself is great. Good build and no issues. However, if you are using Lennar as your finance loan company, I would rate an “F” . No follow up through the process. No responses to questions via email. Extended our move in date a full week, leaving us homeless. My out of pocket expenses for air bnb and storage of our belongings. I will NEVER recommend them as a mortgage company. Worst experience I have ever had.

I went into closing thinking everything was set and costs were set. I get there and the cost increased $10k. The closing agent and I called the loan lady Ali who was very rude and accusing me of not reading what I signed. I advised that I can walk away from the deal and her response was good we’ll keep your $5000. In reality the information was never given to me to sign so it seems like Ali didn’t do her job. The overall homebuying experience was abysmal to say the least. The purchase was so invasive and overly personal regarding expense explanations. Robert R the senior loan processor and Steve A. were incompetent, unprofessional, and RUDE. Some examples: I was in the process of a divorce (hence the purchase), and some explanations were needed (I understand). Robert R. asked for an explanation of "downsizing" from one home to the next (mind you the size difference between homes was ~300 sq feet from 2700 to 2400). Gail was great but Melanie not so much. She was very unresponsive as our assigned concierge. Whenever she did respond it was very vague and not helpful. The loan process was daunting but I made my way through it. In my opinion my loan officer Mrs Jennifer Casey was good but I felt as though the curse of knowledge got the best of her. Whole process was very aggravating. From the delays to the lack of communication. Move in dates were pushed back 4 months. There was a constant rotation of realtors. Value is decent compared to larger cities. Disappointed in the lack of options for the home. Came with basic white cabinets and a horrible vinyl flooring. I do love the future plans for the area.

Holly was amazing and was very responsive and helpful at every question or issue that arised. Carter was helpful with anything we needed. The large issue has been the lawyer and analyst they missed a few things and rushed through the paperwork missing multiple things and causing issues which to this day have still not been figured out. Tom and Diane were all over the place and contradicting themselves and each other through the whole process. Everything was great throughout the buying process. Once you close, the attentiveness and assistance stops. Even trying to contact the closing department and get a callback or response is practically impossible. In addition to that, at times there are construction workers violating City of Laurel city ordinances by conducting construction before the hours that are in the ordinance.

I traveled from Atlanta to Spartanburg with my family to attend the acceptance walkthrough and complete the closing the following day. First off there was no model to look at! There was no shower door in master shower; no towel racks in any of the 3 bathrooms. No grab bars for us seniors. We had to purchase our own garage opener for the small garage. The patio out back - you can’t even put a chair on it (it’s too small). I wasn’t allowed to change the carpet in the bedrooms to tile unless I paid for it after closing. We had to get the plumber out for the water heater and washing machine

I am not sure who and what kind of backwards hiring is happening here, but these are the most unhelpful, most pushy, group of people I have ever dealt with. They are lucky my Home Concierge and loan officer were kind because the entire team outside of them is unorganized and unprofessional. Overall, this wasn’t a pleasant home buying experience. It was very difficult with connecting with the initial representative with questions and she never got back in touch with me. I had to ask the loan employee to assist with the connection multiple times. Once I got into the home the Lennar has been very response to my needs as it relates to fixing things. She has been very awesome and I sincerely appreciate her.

Buying experience was really bad! The only reason I kept on the process is because our home price rebate was really good and because of our realtor, but lennar sales agent was really not helpful and I wish I could say differently but I can’t. Seller did not answer a lot of our questions, deflected a lot of simple questions and at the end they didn’t even show up for our key delivery. I would not recommend them to any family members or friends, I’m sure lennar has really good people working for the company but the ones who helped me, were not!

The representative, Diana, displayed unhelpful and defensive behavior, particularly when questioned about inconsistencies in the final numbers, including a missing wire transfer. Sales - good Closing - average at best Walk through - nothing done between walkthrough and closing. And then they tried to send me to the Warranty team to input more than 15 issues. None of them were terribly hard…they just weren’t completed at anll. It wasn’t until I had to find the correct person, Bo that something got done. Thankfully Bo took care of the customer and without his intervention the experience could have been worse.

I'm not really sure what I have to do to write a review on here. They have rejected my review 6 times so far. Lennar is the worst company to deal with to buy a house. The quality of the house is okay for the money that I paid but getting here was so far beyond reasonable. This will be no less than the sixth time. My agent told me that my work vehicle would be okay to park in the neighborhood, but a week or two after moving in, the Hoa President stated that it was not allowed. Now we’re in a big financial bind to either find another place to live and move or to find a place to move my truck and end up paying a monthly rent for that. It was a terrible lie that got us in this place.
