First time with Lennar - not so good

  • Daniel M.

  • Summerville, SC

This is my family's first new home purchase. I wish I could say that everything went as well as we wanted but that is simply not the case. Lennar moved our closing date several times. There was no infrastructure set up for internet in the home until 3 weeks after our closing date. The whole thing felt rushed and then ultimately stalled toward the end. I feel that Lennar just wanted to get this one penciled in the books before it was truly move-in ready. We have been here a couple of months now and have submitted multiple work orders for a Ring Security System that was not working properly ...

Lennar responded:
Hello Daniel and thank you for sharing your detailed review. We are sorry for any issues you have experienced with the quality of your new home, as well as any missing or incomplete finishes. Lennar is a disappointment

  • Christine G.

Lennar was huge disappointment. Lack of communication from sales agent and construction manager made the purchase and building process very frustrating and difficult. If we didn’t love the neighborhood we would have walked away.

Lennar responded:
Good morning, Christine, and thank you for writing this review. We want to apologize for the frustrations you experienced during the building process of your new home. If there is anything outstanding in which we could provide some follow-up, please send us a note at corporatecustomercare@lennar.com. - Lennar Customer Care

The overall home buying experience was not good. The construction manager was the absolute worse. The quality of the home is very cheap and already falling apart. I will never purchase or recommend a Lennar Home to anyone.

Lennar responded:

Do not buy with this builder. All they care about is money and not the customer. My realtor even said this is the worst builder she has ever dealt with and will not recommend this builder to any of her clients ever again.

Monitor the work throughout the process. Many of the trades do subpar work and the construction manager failed to do to his job. If you can be here everyday to check on the progress than you might be ok. If you're forced to rely on the construction manager...well good luck.

Buying a Lennar model home

  • Dumitru M.
  • Verified HomeBuyer

Buying a Lennar home has been a disappointing experience. Promises of what repairs and fixes will take place prior to closing have not fully materialized. Additional builder fee added to closing costs. No real reason but additional profit just because they can do it in this environment. Front line customer support, lazy and arrogant.

The Sales team was excellent throughout the process and even after we closed on our home. The quality of the build as well as the communication from the project manager left a lot to be desired. The change in timeline was not communicated and we are still waiting for items to be completed. We still have blue tape on items that were not repaired from the initial walkthrough.

Buying process not professional from product presentation to Lenard PM at final inspection to closing at law firm.

Lennar seriously needs to look at there home buying process from the bottom up. Sales people need to know more about the product their selling, I had an independent inspection done of the newly constructed house many incompleted items, a lot code related. Some where corrected then PM said he would correct remaining issues himself after settlement. Off the record never seen PM since. If this is the way Lennar does business it’s no surprise the sued all the time. There the reason production builders get a bad reputation. If Lennars PM (Lou) dot return as promised to finish my unfinished punch ...

Beware of purchasing a home through Lennar. Unfortunately, the project manager does not manage their jobs. Contractors are getting away with crooked walls, drainage issues, poor workmanship, grading issues, etc. They will make excuses and not fix them. The project manager may even get in your face and try to threaten you. Poor purchasing experience! I will never purchase another Lennar home!

Extremely frustrating process with follow up items on punch list items. Significant issues found before closing and was pushed to close and was told items would be completed but are still not and we’ve been in the house for nearly 60 days. Poor quality of work, was clearly rushed to complete. Price was significantly dropped before closing otherwise would not have purchased the home at the original list price. Extremely happy with the location and neighborhood.

I have many outstanding items on my punch list--such as my deadbolts don't work. a cabinet door is damaged, poor shelving has left holes in the wall and the subs they want to send out only work Monday-Friday from 8-4 and are totally impossible to book. It is a nightmare. I took the day off work and the folks came to fix the deadbolts and they brought the wrong equipment-- meaning I have take another day off work with no consideration of my time and danger in living in a house with inoperable dead bolts. We closed a month late (weren't told till the day we were supposed to close by the builder). I get that happens. Didn't have a pre-close walkthrough. No closing celebration. Closed with an open punchlist of items that STILL aren't fixed and it's been more than two months. Had multiple conversations with multiple people and constantly getting the run around. If everything was done right, we would LOVE the house. But the quality (or lack of) shows through in just about everything

When you’re spending this much money on a brand new home, you don’t expect to have to do 2-3 months of repairs right when you move in, but that’s what had happened with us, even though we have been discussing these issues, and bringing up issues as the house was being built.
