The home is fine, the purchase process was a nightmare

The process of purchasing my home was a nightmare. Lennar is far to compartmentalized, there were something like 6 different points of contact depending on what you had a question or concern about, The salesperson was pushy and told me outright lies in attempts to expedite the process - "If you don't sign today, you risk losing the favorable interest rate" was a good one. When pressed with an answer to how much time I had to sign, he dodged the question and just moved on to other subjects. The guy came off like a sleazy used car salesman. Every one else involved in the process was pleasant ...

Not the same Lennar we used to know

This is our second home bought from Lenner Homes. We expected much because of our previous experience in home buying with them. This time around, the quality fell quite a bit. The communication and coordination between the Lennar team is so bad it seems like they have not worked together at all. Everything seemed rushed including the quality of the home and the process itself. As an example, on the first home we were interested in, we filled in all requirements and was half hour away from providing the earnest money with all paper works "all good" according to Lennar finance. Five ...
Lennar responded:
Hi there, we thank you for your continued loyalty as this was the second home you purchased from us. With this being said we also want to apologize because it seems that the second experience was not up to standard. We apologize for the inconveniences that may have come out of this. We always strive for a smooth and enjoyable process for our homeowners. We are going to inform our division leaders about this so we can help improve to provide better experiences. -Lennar Customer Care

Buying a house in this market is tough. We were thrilled to get the house and at the price we did. However, the loan process was pulling teeth to get anyone to respond. I sat at closing for 5 hours because they messed up paperwork and were not prepared. Our house is beautiful but they definitely cut corners on thing. We have random cement piles they tried covering up in the backyard, cabinet doors were put on the wrong direction. Cabinet under the kitchen sink completely fell off. The home was not cleaned as stated prior to move in and there is paint marks on our carpet. Overall we are happy ...

Picking the house and putting the down payment was easy and getting financing wasn't hard for me. Then I was met with an extreme escrow office that accused me of being an investor because I have multiple houses. So, I canceled contract, I thought about it for a day and the house was a good deal, so I went back and did everything all over again, just to be told no by the same escrow officer. I got another lender and closed within 30 days without issue. I took me almost 3 months to buy this house all because the assumption of me being something I am not.

Honestly it was one of the most horrible experiences ever done. The buying process was very unprofessional since they keep on changing the closing day and while me and my family already left the place we used to live at. I’m a disabled Veteran so I thought I will be a little easier for me to move into my new house but this was just a nightmare. The house was not even clean, some things were damaged and the response from the inspector is just not working for me so I ended up doing the cleaning and fixing with my wife for over two weeks. I wouldn’t recommend Lennar to any of my fellow Veterans ...

I’ve been watching the market for years. My family left me with pets, so I couldn’t choose an apartment. I had to move in the next two months. I looked at preowned homes, but didn’t find anything that didn’t need a tremendous amount of fixing. So buying a new house seemed like a great idea. The rep at the Neighborhood was great. He listened to what I liked and he knew the products very well. He was patient and even allowed me to visit a second time. he chose the right house for me. Going through the loan process was a mess. I was told only to speak to two people. End up getting contacted by ...

The entire experience was unpleasant. We have also had several big water leak problems. The warranty may cover the problems but does not cover lost wages or other expenses due to the issues. Highly recommend better quality control. They build them so fast that they miss a lot of things.
Lennar responded:
Good afternoon Mitchell, We’re truly sorry to hear that your overall experience has been an unpleasant one. That’s far from the standard we aim to uphold, and we regret that we fell short of your expectations. If there are any outstanding warrantable items, we encourage you to submit a warranty service request through your Lennar account. The home buying experience was not pleasant. Our salesman was good, but when we had to deal with construction, things took a turn for the worse. This isn’t our first home, so we knew the process. When we pointed out flaws or issues, we were told, “this isn’t a custom home.” I wasn’t asking for one, but I was asking for quality work to be done. It doesn’t need to be a custom home for the workmanship to be up to par. The first woman that was assigned to us for quality control check was extremely unprofessional. She was rude and condescending, and when we would point out an issue, all she would ...

There's a lock of pride in the quality of the workmanship. Very dirty home upon closing. Random nails sticking out of home and poor masonry job. I inherited projects in this new home to fix up what wasn't done. Garage has holes cut into sheetrock for the garage door. Just looks tacky. Floorplan is amazing, yard was fully sodded and beautiful. Customer service rep did an amazing job getting our punch sheet done in our walkthrough! I'd defiantly work with her again, she was on our side in this process!!

I took the time to write a long review and due to a not so nice review it was not published. So this is my second attempt will see how it goes. Im not impressed with the quality of work on my home. They used cheap products. I will add all buyers should be told they only give you 20 feet of grass in the back yard. Very disappointed in Lennar.

The home itself, as of today, is a solid house. Do the cabinet doors sit at slightly different heights? Yes. Are some of the angles a little off? Sure. But totally within the price expectations. However, the communication and process was terrible. Delays, failure to communicate said delays until 3 days before closing, no one seems to have answers and half the people I talked to took a while to get back to me, if at all. Glib company line apologies didn't do much to improve it. Worth it? Because i'm here already, absolutely. Would I do this again? No thanks.

Overall Disappointed — A Frustrating Finish to an Exciting Start

The beginning of my homebuying experience was exciting and smooth — choosing the house and putting the money down was easy. However, once it came time to close, things took a frustrating turn. Communication from the closing department became nearly nonexistent, making what should have been a celebratory time stressful and uncertain. After receiving my keys, I was told the home had gone through its "final clean," but unfortunately, it had not. I was never informed that the grass would only be laid out 15 feet from the house, and no explanation or heads-up was given. Even more frustrating, ...

Frustrating Lending Process & Mixed Home Quality

We purchased our home for $152,000, and while we were excited about the process, the lending experience was a nightmare. Despite being extremely responsive, providing all requested paperwork within 30 minutes, we were repeatedly asked for the same documents over and over. They even required us to write unnecessary explanations for paperwork they already had, making the process frustrating and redundant. As for the home itself, the quality is hit or miss. The paint chips easily, and the flooring feels cheap and low-grade. On the positive side, the stove and oven are nice, but that’s about ...

Honestly for a new home it wasn’t the worst but I definitely had to stay on top of things after moving in. They missed a bunch of stuff. The contractors they use are garbage. When putting in tickets to get things fixed that they messed up on or didn’t do it’s like pulling teeth.. had to put multiple tickets to get things done. Horrible customer service. Even the guy who is suppose to take care of things talked to me like I didn’t know anything and I had to put in another ticket just to get him to fix it.. they ruined my lawn and only half fixed it and told me they weren’t going to fix it ...

We had a great time finding a home that was almost completed with Damon. After that we talked with a few good finance people to get the loan paperwork done and approved. Our home buyer conciere we only had one conversation with him and couldnt get ahold of him for anything really.
