From the lack of communication to the in-ability to hang a door straight I truly have been impressed by the lack of effort on our homes. Everything was rushed and you can tell in the quality of craftsmanship. Would not recommend purchasing unless you like being disappointed.

LGI Homes - We waited for 4 1/2 hours to sign paperwork because they had

We waited for 4 1/2 hours to sign paperwork because they had wrong information; their fault not ours. Repairs needed on the inside of the house, no communication and people don’t keep their appointments and don’t have the courtesy to contact us to say they are running late or not showing up at all!! I will not recommend LGI homes. Leaving messages with LGI contact go unanswered! VERY disappointed! Like a car salesman, they sell you the car then forget you.

LGI Homes responded:
Hi Ayanada, we are disappointed to hear your feedback as this is not the typical LGI Homes experience. We apologize for any lack of communication from our team and we have sent your information to management to investigate further. Took almost two years to build a home, they will tell you that it is “supply shortages due to covid”. But it’s more than that, it took them almost 9 months to produce the building permits, and many other delays, I went through three different representatives during that process, my second representative “fik menshesha? (if I spelled that correctly) was the absolute worst, made many complaints about that guy and he ended up getting promoted somewhere else. If you buy at a low price and your home estimate value increases, at a certain point they will try anything they can to get you out of the ...

The HORRIBLE level of customer service and the lack of concern with customer satisfaction

It is apparent that the sales team that worked at The Reserve at Canyon Hills has no regard for the customer experience, and that they are accustomed to only working with clients that have no concept of the home buying process, and without knowledge of industry requirements, as it relates to financial requirements. I am not a first-time homebuyer, although this is the first house I've done from the ground up. I walked in the doors of the sales office with a loan approval in hand, chose to go with LGI's preferred lender, but was later threatened to have my contract canceled by the Project ...

Absolutely the worst experience for a first time home buyer.. they told us they’re always on time they told our lender to stop telling us that they’ll push the date back and they told us to move out of our apartments because they’re always on time.. well we gave our notice to move out of our apartments like they said and then they pushed our move in back four months which made us homeless then our apartments let us stay for a rent increase and LGI didn’t cover the difference there was ZERO communication throughout the entire process I had to drive 40 minutes to get answers because they ...

First looked at the home we were satisfied but after we signed the paper and handed over the earnest money things went to crap. They don’t communicate very well and our closing date changed five times, all they wanted to do was blame the city for not having enough inspectors but after doing research they did have the inspectors but LGI was failing 55% of their inspections and to top it all off the reason they didn’t start building the home they promised us right away was because they never paid the city the cost for the permit. Don’t buy here they don’t give a crap about you or anything else ...

This is my first house - and the organization of LGI is a mess my closing was a mess. NOONE cleaned the house before closing, there were tons of things not completed of my "punch list" AND inspection. And now after moving into the neighborhood is DISGUSTING. NO IN MANAGEMENT CARES NOR DOES ANYTHING ABOUT ANY COMPLAINTS. Please someone reach out to me I would LOVE to take this to a higher level - I'm tired of living in filth after paying almost $1,000 in HOA fees.

LGI Homes responded:
Hello! This is certainly not the typical experience we provide. For the items you feel are not taken care of in your home, please be sure to file a warranty claim through our convenient online portal. Regarding the state of the neighborhood, it may be worth contacting the HOA. When you closed, their phone number should have been included in the list of important phone numbers you received.

Salesperson Ana Maria very helpful, but was hindered by ridiculous rules from builder. Builder would not supply list of appliances in home, nor specify what we'd get for our money. Usually builder supplies "list of content" of home and spells out warranties, this was all provided only at final walkthrough. We were told to look at model home images on website, which had multiple options for windows etc, but we could never get a straight answer what our house contained. Totally unsatisfactory. Preclosing walkthrough with Dave M was awesome and thorough, but it was downhill from there. The real ...

Horrible experience. Was told we would for sure close in may but never happened as they informed me they could not connect power to house and it would take another 2 weeks. I called the superintendent of the electric company and they had power the next day. Once moved in the painter they hired did some of the worst job I have seen. I have family that own painting companies and they inspected it and informed me that this was shotty work. Paint spots on floor in bathrooms and you can see the drywall tape splitting in some areas. Wet spot in drywall garage as they roofers took a long time to ...

The LGI representative I had contact with were not very customer friendly. The LGI representative I worked with to close on the property was much better. The first individuals you meet represents the company, my experience with Ms. Shereka and Mr. Jon was unbelievable. I a a busy professional and I could not believe LGI had these two individuals representing a company with a brand on the line. The only reason this deal closed is because of an urgent family need. I will not ever forget this experience, it was the worst and I own 2 other properties in NC.

I would have never bought a home with LGI if I knew I would have all the problems that I did as soon as I moved in. I feel like the quality is not worth the money and that the builders (inspectors) did a horrible job catching mistakes. I had a chunk out of my foundation, a water leak that leaked under my new floor that had to be torn out with mold, and a fence with several cracked and uneven boards. There are other little things wrong as well. Very unhappy.

LGI Homes responded:
We're very disappointed to hear this. Each of our homes undergo several inspections and we take pride in the quality of our homes. We even have a dedicated Construction Manager on-site at each of our communities to ensure that quality of our homes. Our experience purchasing a new construction home by LGI Homes has been incredibly frustrating and disappointing. We knew that no upgrades or customization was allowed with our home, but the builder used the cheapest possible fixtures and finishing touches. Though we moved in over a month ago, we still cannot use our master bathroom because the shower was installed improperly. They are unable to replace the one-piece shower (which we specifically wanted) and will need to replace it with a 3 or 4 piece shower (much harder to clean). However, having this issue addressed has required constant ...

Worst Experience in My Life

Where to start on how bad of a buying experience this was? I am even shocked I am being sent this considering it was so bad we even tried to reach the CEO about it through LinkedIn. To begin, when we first arrived on the LGI property we were given the typical walk around the office to have LGI read their values and explain it to us. Such a waste of my time and all part of the charade if you ask me, I just wanted to get out and start looking. After their little speech we went to look at a mix of mostly finished homes and lots. After an hour or so we finally found a lot we liked. We went ...

LGI Homes responded:
Hi Joshua, we are sorry to hear about the experience you had. We understand your frustration and disappointment and many of the items you have outlined are very abnormal and not reflective of the experience we pride ourselves on. Our teams stay in communication when a lot or home is sold with the aim to avoid the incident that occurred while signing your contract, and we are disheartened that this situation happened at all. As you mentioned, the delays in construction were largely due to shortages and our teams provide the updates that we have received from our suppliers. We know that it is troubling to not be able to receive solid answers on when you will be able to move into your home. The flooding of the home is unfortunate and an extremely rare situation. We know that it hit even harder after already waiting so long for your home and we apologize that it caused further delay. We appreciate your patience as we fixed the home so you could move in. What you went through is extremely atypical and we are disappointed that we did not deliver the buying experience that we pride ourselves ...

I would not recommend this builder. They were terrible to work with prior to closing, poor communication, continued to provide every excuse as to why the property was not completed within the timelines given, extended out our closing dates as the house did not inspect in time. Any issues found during the walkthrough were to be addressed within 14 days after closing. We are over a month out, and warranty issues have still not been completed.
