Lack of Ownership for Defective Workmanship

Wow! Upon receiving possession of our new home we discovered stains in our new granite sink and on our very expensive new floors. Upon request to evaluate, we received insinuations that the issues were caused by us even though we had not even moved into the home. Also, poor workmanship was highlighted upon replacement of front door bell and once again we were told they weren't responsible even though the stucco was not completed correctly under doorbell they installed and the stucco was falling off. Sad.

Rush Job to Close

The initial part of the build process with Pulte was enjoyable and low stress. Our sales and design consultants, as well as our construction field manager were friendly, professional, good communicators and efficient. However, at about the 6 month mark of the build process things started to change. The excuses (mostly blamed on COVID) piled on regarding delays and towards the end we felt like the home was being rushed to completion so that upper management could fill their end of year sales quotas and get their bonuses. Our home was closed incomplete... no screens, missing shelves, hardware ...

Unfortunately we moved it without things being complete. If we didn’t close we could have been pushed out of our home buying due to the equity in the new build that was so high due to the 13 month build time. We are left with appliances that were not selected, tile that is way uneven, no cabinet door, no screen doors, no grout in the pantry, grout in the kitchen that was stained during build by trades, carpet not secure, door hardware not complete or installed incorrectly, windows that were not cleaned and covered in materials, and the list continues. Waiting on a Michelle to call to start ...

One of the worst new home purchases maybe because of Covid-19? I went with Pulte because of the name. We are hoping our Pulte home will be a good one for our Family. Worst thing about this purchase was lack in communication from the builder and feeling pressure for us to meet deadlines Pulte imposed on us.Luckily Nick our contractor smoothed all our worries away helping every step of the way! He was capable, friendly and payed attention to detail. We were also fortunate to have a great team at Pulte mortgage. Sarah and Matt were always polite and professional. They really know their stuff. ...

I signed the contract for our home in Nov 2020, before the madness of the housing market really took off. I also signed just as Pulte started doing lot bidding which was not a fun experience and something I'll be mindful of if I ever purchase a home again. Our sale consultant Peter was always very responsive, Leslie in the sales office was very helpful during the initial tour of the model homes. The build time came in at around 7 months, during the pandemic, which was faster than we thought it was going to be. We didn't get many pictures from our field manager during the build, but ...

I love my new home. The floor plan is amazing. I feel like the crew was rushed to complete by the close date causing things that need work. No one has responded to my home inspection report.

Kitchen cabinet for the waterfall island was misplaced. When i asked why, i was told that's the way the vendor made it..which didn't make sense. A week after moving in, i noticed the island wasn't done properly. I reached out to the field manager. Was told that's the way they did it. This wasn't true as that wasn't the case for another home i saw. Till date the issue has not be fixed. I gave a 3 star overall cos other aspect of the home was average.

Project manager tried very hard to stay on top of crews, but fell short in drywall and paint. Drywall was not installed properly and we tried to hang a ceiling fan only to have 5 nails pop out in the ceiling. Down the hallway you could see the drywall bow and swerve in and out. Paint in carpet, across tiles and in the grout; which was never sealed, not even in the wet rooms.

The sales process went well. The start of the build process also went well. We decided to build with Pulte since we had a great past experience with them. Different area, different people and service I guess. The quality of the workmanship was below average. It looked like they just did the work without any care. It definitely shows that it was just a job and not have any care in what they do. We still are waiting for issues to be fixed after a month and multiple inspections.

I have been in my home for a little over a month. Obviously I am going to find imperfections, but there are far too many things that pop up that just show laziness. Holes in drywall, nicks and dents in drywall, grout splattered and stuck to tiles/walls, chipped grout, cracked paint in almost every ceiling corner. I've had the project manager/customer service come out to inspect some of the issues, said they would have it taken care of in a couple weeks. it's been over 3 weeks and there is still no update.

Sloppy work/ poor craftsmanship. It feels and looks very rushed. There are holes in walls that we are finding in random places that were missed during walk through, globs of paint everywhere on the walls even after pointing out and fixing over 50 during walk through, uneven cabinets etc. They also have an awful warranty. Flooring isn't even covered! We have only been in our home 2 months and the floor is already coming up and they are saying it’s not covered under warranty.

Pulte needs to step up their game for quality control on the use of their sub-contractors. It seemed at the tail end of the build they incurred all kinds of inferior quality workmanship and follow-up. Very disappointed. They did their best to fix the issues, but it was a head ache getting there.

We were rushed into our new home without many things being completed first. We have had various issues with the finishing stages of the home and the exterior of the home. Paint was not and is not completed to match colors, holes in cabinets, cracked cabinets, dents on facia of appliances, stucco cracks on most exterior walls, and many other little things that add up to a move in ready home, which this was not. They are fixing things as we go but that's not good business practices if you want to continue business. Would be nice to pay for a home that is move in ready, cleaned, not construction ...

Workmanship with the Contractor - trade companies.

During the final walk thru we found problem with, cabinets, flooring, tile and roofing. Numerous work orders were put in but either trade people did not show up or they did not attempt to fix the problems. When you pay 1/2 million for a home we would expect quality workmanship. I believe builders are pressured to get homes built. Our Project Manager tried the best of his ability, but if the Contractors don’t Care then there is not a whole lot he can do on his own.

I bought a model. I realize my home was not under warranty or that they werent going to do anything major to fix issues. However, even something basic- for example, as you go up the stairs, there is a big chunk out of the wall. How hard would it have been to fix it? Our fireplace doesn't work. A simple visit from the super would probably take care of it but no one would respond. Very disappointing. The toilet flushes can be heard downstairs like someone is hitting a sledgehammer. The sales office reps were great. That's why they get a better rating.

There are good things about this home but too many little problems and some bigger ones. Hardwood floors had a lot of glue on them, island outlets had no electricity for a month, overflow in bathroom tub was not installed correctly so water flooded, paint was on floors from touch up etc. Chips in doors, tile cracked

Covid has delayed everything in my experience with Pulte (is what I'm told) this year. I've lived in my home for 3 months & still have several workmanship issues that were notified by my overworked field manager & still haven't received notice from another rep whose supposed to schedule our appts to get these items fixed. It's caused significant delay in being able to unpack & things which need fixed after getting worse.

Pulte Homes - The sales process was smooth.

The sales process was smooth. The quality of the finishing, (trim work, tile installation, painting) was low in my opinion. The superintendent for my build came across as helpful but his follow through has been poor as far as making sure the finishing issues are resolved. Unfortunately some of the repair work has resulted in more damage/poor workmanship than before the repair. The house closing was moved up 3 weeks from its original date and the quality of the final product seems to have be sacrificed to make this happen.
