Post closing follow up for issues is terrible

The sales and build process was outstanding. However the process to get construction issues corrected after close has been terrible. Our Customer Care Manager is more interested in making excuses or finding reasons why they should not address the problem than fixing what are overall minor problems.

There are dozens of fit, finish and trim issues. We have been so patient and understanding with our reps, its not their fault, and I am sure they are overwhelmed. But for a $600k house, the workmanship is really terrible. Nothing big (so far) but paint, trim, etc. Oh, and the installers drilled through a main waste line putting in shelves. It’s wonderful to be in a brand new home. Unfortunately, that gets ruined when you spend the first couple months constantly finding all of the poor workmanship that wasn’t caught during your brief final inspections. Walls out of square, sloppy craftsmanship all over the place, broken doors, drawers, and cabinets. Very slow response to get anything taken care of. If you’re thinking of building a new home in the Indianapolis area, go with anyone other than Pulte. You’ll be happy you did.

As a real estate agent who has worked with Many builders this was the worst build process and worst finished product I have ever sold. The contractors rushed through the work. The quality of the finish is DIY quality at best. My home that was 18 years old had better quality finishes in it than this brand new home. I’m scared to see what other issues will arise the longer we live in the home. It’s a shame the process and product were so horrible because we love the floor plan and our home.

Closing with items not finished

We closed with items not finished with their word they would be finished quickly. It’s been 2 months since closing and they still haven’t finished our master bedroom shower. Completely unacceptable and nobody from Pulte cares or wants to help get it finished.

Quality of build wasn’t great. All bottoms of doors were chipped and not fixed before closing. Forgot to caulk to kitchen counter and the bathroom sink didn’t have a vanity. This is just a few things amongst a lot of other finishing touches.

Overall the house is decent but for the price they charge, the quality is just not there. Numerous issues that builder tried to explain away. Also, builders response time is horrible still waiting on items to be fixed from two months ago.

Horrible field manager

Make sure you have a good field manager, basically the General Contractor of the build, that has good communication skills. Ours, no longer with the company, only wanted to communicate through phone calls, didn't reply to emails, deflected responsibility, and gave false timelines. We had our "celebration walk" when the home still didn't have water, pass inspections, and receive certificate of occupancy. Told us the closing date had to be pushed out the day after he told us we were "good" to close.

A great house, but a very poor experience the first 4 months. Our salesperson, Robin, did an outstanding job of communicating and seeking for answers. Additionally, Charlie turned our project around and our neighborhood for that matter. He deserves a raise. That being said, a customer shouldn't have to manage a build, which is what this experience turned into. We are currently dealing with a warranty issue due to poor craftsmanship by the tile layers, but all other trades did a quality job. This house is what we expected and what we were sold.

My project manager had way too many homes. It was evident in the responsiveness and ability to keep up with issues. There were a few hiccups along the way that I had to stay on top off, but the painters are a disaster. It was ridiculous what was missed and how many times they had to come back. By the time we closed, I basically just gave up. I’m also disappointed that the ceiling/attic isn’t strong enough to support any storage. I would like to attach some indoor gym equipment for kids to the walls and ceiling, but Im scared the roof would fall down..even though I was able to put ...

If you start this process with low expectations, it's not bad. Craftsmanship not up to par. Moved in two months ago and there are still fixes taking place on the home and yet to have a yard. Had to get on pulte just to get a rough grade on our yard and after 3 weeks finally happened by getting higher ups at Pulte involved and also getting with the landscape company. Very irritating that when fixes were to take place it would take contractors 2-3 tries to get it right. Be prepared to be a project manager if you decide to build here. We experienced multiple misrepresentations, poor communication, and very little accountability. We fully understand supply shortages and labor issues but the poor communication was fully within the team’s control. We constantly had to request updates and track product delays ourselves. They constantly weaponized our closing date whenever we attempted to hold them accountable for build errors, missing items, and damages to our home. I’m just glad it’s over and can put this experience with Melissa and Matt behind us.

Sales was not polite, push for more option purchase very aggressively. They are obviously short in man power. the field manager was a good man, he tried his best but there is just too much for him to cover. Little issues all around the house, not critical but annoying, especially for house at this time price range. My neighbor had a blocked sump pump the first day he moved in … i am checking mine frequently, my sewer pump beeped crazily one day after the bathroom was used, after a minute it pumped itself then everything went ok, not sure what was going on

Our experience with Pulte had positives and negatives. We chose to build with Pulte because of the lot location and available floor plans, not because of a favorable Pulte reputation. We knew we were taking a chance, but hopeful Pulte would raise their standards with our more expensive home. The beginning of the process was excellent! But, as soon as we signed the contract things started going downhill. Our sales consultant didn't provide clear information and openly lied about some of the house's features. The construction process was a mess, mainly during the time Pulte switched field managers. Signed to build this house in February of 2021. Supposed to be complete in August, 2021. At least a half a dozen delays, 3 Construction Managers turned over. I'd find out at the last minute about delays requiring me and my wife to find another place to live after selling our home. Most of my construction close updates came from Pulte Mortgage. Each department pointed at the other as the arbiter of the decision. CMs were just about silent through the whole process - communicating nothing. Andrew being the one exception. For the price we paid for our home, I would have expected better quality workmanship. We have needed to have several things corrected that resulted from shoddy work, such as crooked mirror, installation of damaged window casing, replacement of damaged or defective cabinet doors. The cabinets are not great quality, and we paid a premium for the convenience package. The touch up paint the painters used (and what was left for us) does not match exactly, so it stands out.
