Awful customer service and a whole bunch of issues with the sales team and construction quality control
- Joshua T.
- Verified HomeBuyer
- May 26, 2020
- Westfield, IN
We had many issues throughout the build process, most were due to the incompetence of the sales rep. On several occasions we were told we were getting one product by the sales rep only to find out too late in the build process that those items that heavily swayed our decision to purchase, either 1. Weren't available, or 2. Were only available if we chose a different option or 3. We were mislead on what we were getting. I could go on and on but there's not enough space. We never even got a response from supervisors when we had issues that warranted it. Overall there are so many issues, and ...

Disappointed after moved in

Compare to other new construction houses ,Pulty model house is simple design, not special at all. We found out lot of issues when we walked through the house after it built and the whoever person in charge promised he would fix the problem but which he missed multiple area not fixed at all. We are kind of disappointed. The material they used are super cheap. After we moved in not even a month , the paint on the wall started to peel off. All the material they used my professional friend said it’s the cheapest one can not last longer time. About the house pricing ... I can say the ...

Homes built as cheap as possible

Pulte has some good home designs, but in the end, they fall short because they hire the cheapest labor possible using the cheapest materials possible. Fit and finish is terrible, and there doesn't seem to be any inspection of the work performed. For example, many of the doors inside the house don't close. EVERY window has crooked or wavy framing and drywall work. The floor tiles throughout the house are uneven so furniture wobbles. Any purchased upgrades use the least expensive materials possible. The homes would be much better quality if someone actually followed up on the work ...

Work is not completed 2 months later.

Closed on home in March. Yard has still not been installed - issue is not due to COVID-19. This is a shame as we would not have poorly rated this experience prior to closing. We have been understanding about a window needing to be replaced and workers not being allowed in homes during the pandemic. However, yards are being installed consistently around the neighborhood as we watch and wait for the past 2 months.

Do not recommend purchasing a Pulte Home

We purchased a model home and we were very excited. There were things that needed to be fixed and we were told this would be taken care of so we went ahead and closed. We closed in September and most of what needed fixed still needs fixed. The communication is very slow or non-existent. We just want the things fixed so we do not have to think about it and can enjoy our new home. I know what one of Pulte's answers will be it has been to cold to paint our garage door but there have been several days this could have been done. It is very embarrassing and discouraging every time we pull ...

Poor craftsmanship and lack of support for issues

Very poor craftsmanship overall. The house was not cleaned before closing and there were countless issues, they rushed to complete what they could in the one-hour window while we were at our closing appointment. One-hour was obviously not enough time to do the work that was needed to be done, then they wrote us off once we signed the papers. Countertops were cracked in several places at closing and they won't replace them, they just glued two of the pieces back together but cracks still exist and they will not respond to emails about it. Also there are holes in the drywall, gouges in stairs, ...

Terrible with warranty issues. Sinkholes throughout entire Pulte subdivision. Admission that land was not prepped appropriately. Rather than reach out transparently to homeowners affected, everyone has had to track down people to talk to. Warranty windows set by Pulte and confirmed by homeowner result in trades not showing up as scheduled causing missed work and worse, no repairs being made unless homeowner reschedules. LVP popping up everywhere. Warranty sends one guy with no pics of which boards to replace despite the person who assessed the need for repair taking pictures and ...

I purchased this house because when I came to see the model home, it was elegantly on display without a single defect, so I expected the final home that they will sell me would also be without defects. But the home I walked into has cabinets that are chipped, kitchen island that is not aligned with the center of the kitchen, and molding in the kitchen that is not even painted. The window frames in the kitchen are dented and uneven. Very bad experience after closing with warranty team. Aeron in charge had no interest in following up with issues in regards to our driveway pavers which was stained and broke while we were closing, a claim was filed and no answer received, not even a follow up. Pulte did an okay job for us, but we are not 100% satisfied. Now after living in the home for almost 3 months, we feel we overpaid and got a lesser product than what was advertised. Every team we dealt with tried to shift the blame down to the next team, and would consistently tell you that you can't expect things to be done right. The sales team did an okay job, but there is very little involvement from them. Mostly, it's up to you to just pick the lot and home you want. The design process was ok as well. Every time we submit a claim, we get told “this wasn’t reported during close, so we don’t know who damaged it”. That can be said for anything because it’s such a fine line. Seems a little ridiculous for such an expensive house and things are supposed to be under warranty. I can say the same where they purposely placed things that had flaws where it wouldn’t be obvious without inch by inch inspection.

Within 48 hours of moving in we had to have them come and tear out a shower wall because it was installed improperly. When I went back to the sales office to find out what to do, the sales agent said ‘it’s ok, it’s under warrantee’ like it’s no big deal to have to tear up a bathroom upon moving in to my new home because I don’t have to pay to fix it!!?! Our experience was not the best. We felt pushed and also not heard. We know Pulte is not a custom builder however some of the items we inquired about were brushed aside, not properly addressed and/or we were given wrong information. One of the worst parts of the build was the sloppy nature of the contractors as we pointed out SO many things that needed to get fixed. Since moving into our new home there has been issues with fixing the quality of this home such as the woodwork, paint, and the yard. The HOA is non existent and there is trash, dead bushes and trees and old pine straw. The landscaping is NOT what was shown to us that this community would offer nor is the keep up. The amenities don't all work. This place already looks like rental quality. NOT a Pulte community. I have little hope this place will turn around. The only people that were helpful was Scott at the sales center and Darrin who helps with work requests.

Pulte is a low cost provider of housing and they are trying to be in the luxury segment in a community called ascension. They are out of their league and are not able to meet the expectations of a luxury buyer. The only reason they are getting the prices they are getting is due to the location, not the design or quality of the build. They are so bad with the customer journey and have no business being in this segment of the market. Summerlin (Howard Hughes Corp) is not thinking clearly either. Older Summerlin is so much better. Don’t buy in ascension from pulte if you want to spend $2m+.
