They are great until you move in

I don’t have time to write some elaborate review, let’s just say make sure everything is perfect before you move in. If there are any issues after the fact they do everything but honor their warranty and workmanship. Things that were identified before we moved in or the week after we moved in have still not been fixed and I am starting to get a feeling that they won’t. Huge disappointment.

When I was shopping for my home I was shown the model homes that were immaculate. The sales representative was cordial and appeared friendly on the surface. After waiting months for my home to be built what I received was far from the immaculate model shown. My home was lacking the basics that should be offered with the purchase of a new home. I really wish I could include pictures. The craftsmanship of my home is embarrassing. Corners are not 90 degrees (I was told this happens in every Pulte home). Front door doesn’t close/latch properly. The ceiling texturing doesn’t do all the way to the wall in some areas. My floors are uneven. None of the molding on the corners are smooth and the wood trim everywhere I looks like I plastered and painted over it. Interior doors are peeling at the top and bottom. Poor communication during buying process. Excellent in on line communication however difficult to talk to a person. Sales staff say No to every request without an explanation. Had to speak to upper management several times for simple requests. Walk through was very unfriendly and so impersonal. Follow thru during first days of moving in was ignored by all. Had a burning smell in Microwave and asked in writing if they could look at it. Wanted them to pull the oven out so it could be unplugged. The home buying experience was straight forward. We worked with Mary at the Laurel office. She was responsive and kind. Prior to closing and right after, during our walk through, we noticed so many issues. The quality of materials and the workmanship is so beyond poor. All our window and staircase /rail moulding/trims are poorly finished with visible discrepancies (patched up and uneven caulking on most edges). Extremely disappointed in our experience here at Pulte. We purchased our home 2+ months ago and still have yet to get dates of when the punch list items will be finished. Very unacceptable as I as a customer have to follow up weekly when we have our first baby on the way due January. Electrical wasn’t hooked up in our overflow tank outside whatsoever - plumber actually caught it when he was snaking all of the construction debris that was carelessly pushed down our pipes in our master bath and we couldn’t our toilet and shower for days. Still many issues not resolved after moving in.

I had many issues still not resolved. My shower door has gaps that allow water to come outside of the shower. They gave me a rusted water heater. Tiles were chipped and grouting not completed. A screen door on the patio was never installed. Stove keeps going out. I think the experience would be better if these issues were resolved before we moved in.

I am extremely sorry to write this review because it won’t be good. I waited - stalked - this location because it’s where I wanted to build my house. I was so excited to get in on the first release and to get my first choice on my lot. I drove by almost weekly when the house was being built. I was so excited to close on May 23, 2022! Prepare to be "sold" on the model homes they show you. Unfortunately, almost nothing resembles the quality of the model. Poor worksmanship plagues this company leading to constant warranty requests. Items that were listed on the documentation at closing will NEVER get done so be prepared to delay closing. Things that were talked about at walk through have not been fixed. Field Manager is unresponsive or promises that someone will be out to fix it but never comes. I have contacted the national office who told me the local office needed to take care of it and I was just circled back to the same Field Manager. Terrible, no non-existent customer care.

Closing with items not finished

We closed with items not finished with their word they would be finished quickly. It’s been 2 months since closing and they still haven’t finished our master bedroom shower. Completely unacceptable and nobody from Pulte cares or wants to help get it finished.

There's a huge disconnect between Pulte and the contractors they hire to install and build the home. The small issues are taken care of in an average time frame, but the big issues, they dance around and make all the excuses in the world why they can't fix it.

Pulte picks such inefficient products to put in these new and costly homes. Items such as the hot water tank, garbage disposal, a/c, etc - they’re an appropriate size for an apartment, not $400k+ homes. It’s obnoxious to spend so much money on a new home only to have to deal with “below grade” products after the fact. Quality of build wasn’t great. All bottoms of doors were chipped and not fixed before closing. Forgot to caulk to kitchen counter and the bathroom sink didn’t have a vanity. This is just a few things amongst a lot of other finishing touches.
