Toward the end of our build process we encountered a few problems with about a month or more to go til closing. When brought to the attention of our construction manager they were either down played or we were told it was suppose to be that way. When asked for things to be fixed we were given alternate methods to fix the issue instead of just fixing it the right way the first time. These issues led to moving our closing date multiple times and at the end still had many unfinished problems. These problems were suppose to be fixed immediately after closing in mid March and here we are mid May ...

Do not assume that everything that is installed is done correctly. Make sure that you inspect everything before you close and have all the information that you need, Some things that you find were done incorrectly after closing, you may have to fix yourself. We found some damaged wall tiles, missing tiles, outdoor paint chipped, ceiling speakers not connected, extra electrical switches that arent connect, after we moved in and were left with resolving the issues.

With the reputation of Pulte we expected a much better experience. Throughout the build process there was minimal communication and when there was, the information was not correct or trustworthy. Our home was delayed several times due to "Covid" when really the builder had issues they were not upfront about. Our home was broken into the day before closing, which delayed us 3 more days. Anyone considering building with Pulte needs to know right away, that the craftsmanship, and attention to detail are not at all what you would expect from a new built house. Paint, trim, fixtures, and cabinets are thrown together with no real care or precision and some details are not finished. At first, the construction manager(s) are responsive and assuring that everything will be taken care of, but often disappear and become disinterested in the latter stages of the build. Punch list items noted on inspection and final walk thru still not resolved after 2 months of being in the home. Awful experience with Pulte. Really bad workmanship. 5 field managers through our build process because Pulte treats their employees so poorly that they all quit. It took 14 months from contract to close on a 4 story townhouse. Promises not kept. I will never buy a Pulte home again and will be deterring others from doing so.

Very Poor Building Experience

We recently purchased a home at the Bald Mountain community in Michigan. This is our second home that we were building so we had past experiences to compare. (1) The quality of workmanship has been horrible - architecturally and aesthetically. (2) The clarity on timelines was poorly managed - something that I had expected to be a well oiled machine given the quantity of homes that Pulte builds. (3) The quality of the home does not show for the amount that we paid.

Terrible experience!

We are so frustrated with Pulte. We have leaking doors, an upgraded electrical package that was installed incorrectly, missing fixtures, a beautiful but faulty sliding glass door that needs repair, sticky paint, a leaking shower and the list goes on and on. Communication is terrible. I receive work orders for things to be repaired and then no one shows up. None of these issues have been addressed and we have been in the house for over a month. If you buy from Pulte be prepared for a long list of issues and top dollar for shotty work. It’s no wonder they have pending lawsuits.

Communication is terrible. While not a custom builder (and they are quick to tell you so) quality of workmanship is awful. So many unfinished issues even a month after closing.

Quality of work is okay, not great. Sloppy, no pride in workmanship. 50/50 on materials. Many were very cheap for the price we paid. Quality Control was basically none. Terrible. Responsiveness to issues, basically we got "ghosted". At 2 months from move-in, still many issues were not addressed. Word of trust to take care of things, doesn't exist. Please be very careful when deciding a Pulte home. Your first experience at the model, just like with any other builder, will be a great one and you will see the potential for your home. First piece of advice, I would ensure you have a good sales consultant that knows what they are doing and is knowledgeable. Ours was the opposite of that and essentially ruined the home buying experience for us. From the very beginning, whenever we expressed a concern it was dismissed as just being part of the process and that it would be taken care of later, but that wasn't the case. So now we have a fireplace that is crooked, a recycle drawer that isn't soft close and paint-splattered stonework.

This is our 2nd home that we purchased from a builder. The first one was from brookfield, and had ZERO issues with them. And they where way more modern with all the minor things in the home, white cabinets weren’t upgrades... they where included, the minor accents and door knobs where way more modern then the ones pulte has to offer. There are sooooo many obvious problems with pulte home, we moved in and right away noticed the craftsmanship and detail to work is wayyyyy off. They cut a lot of corners and nobody from pulte was overseeing the contracted work that they hired to build our home. ...

I bought a brand new house from Pulte Homes in October 2020. I closed on the house & began moving in. However, there are a SIGNIFICANT # of problems w/ the house. One of the closet door knobs is missing. I have a water leak. One of the toilets was not properly installed. The carpet had a large # of nails sticking up. There was a lot of construction debris in the backyard. The garage door is really loud while opening or closing. There are at least 1 dozen other issues. These things should not be happening, especially w/ a brand new house.

Every time we visited the job site it was filthy. No one watched the contractors that were "working" at our home. Beer bottles on site, bathroom plumbing not complete in one of the bathrooms, heater not set up. Even at our walk through the house was not clean and it doesn't seem to bother our "Construction Supervisor". We are sorry we didn't buy from a different builder.

Do not close on your house until you have had several “final” walkthroughs. I have been in my house a month now, and every day I am finding a new issue. They cut corners, their attention detail is horrible, the craftsmanship for every aspect of my house is subpar. I was told to expect the quality work done on the mode home, what I received is far from that. I wish I never would have closed on the home with Pulte. Get all Fixed Before Closing in the House

The process of building the house was somehow smooth. Some of the materials used were not best quality (ie. wood for wall studs, gypsum boards). Even the carpenter confirmed this. The field managers relies on the contractors for supervision. The construction is in autopilot, little supervision from field managers. If you see issues during inspection make sure they are taken care before closing. After closing you have to request warranty service which will cause lots of headaches.
