Pulte’s poor communication and commitment disappoints us so much. They really need complete responsibilities and accountability to listen carefully and timely communicate. Most importantly they have to take action but not simply disregard or inaction. Very disappointed and unpleasant experience.

Surprising Disappointment with Pulte Homes, a Builder with Good Reputation

Pulte Homes has had a good reputation, but unfortunately I am very disappointed in the entire buying/building process. 1. Pulte sales told me the property is not in a flood zoom but actually it is. Two weeks before the closing I was told a flood insurance is required because it is in a flood zoom. 2. The house was built with three car garages but with a narrowed drive way only allowing to access two. This is due a special county regulation about the drive way width, which Pulte does not tell buyers until the house is built. 3. Dry walls were soaked with water due to opened windows on rainy ...

The lack of support from Pulte

I was given a very low grade refrigerator just so they could close and get their money. The frig door doesn’t stay closed, it’s very small, and doesn’t have an ice maker. We live in Florida and have to buy ice every two days. Ive talked to Pulte and their sales manager who doesn’t even call back or follow up. He’s been a total disappointment along with Whirlpool who blames Pulte then Pulte blames Whirlpool. The sad part is I can go out and buy the refrigerator I ordered and paid for but no one will step up and give me a refund to do that!! All I get is excuses and no solutions!!

We always had to initiate communication to find out what was going on. Our house took 2 months longer than expected, but at no point we’re we reached out to to be made aware of this extension our original estimate just came and went. When we did our celebration and pointed out items that needed fixed Steven said he would be “living at our house the next couple of days to get things done.” I’m sure he didn’t do that as many of the items were not completed. We had to close with items not installed and had to wait several days for them to be installed. Then they weren’t installed correctly.

We were very excited to buy a new home from Pulte, but unfortunatelly our experience has not been very pleasant. We had a defective range that leaked gas the first time we cooked. In fact, the range had been fixed for a different defect prior to our close. It has been a lenghty and exhausting process to finally get to the point where it will be replaced. We are waiting for it to arrive. Some issues. Several times we were given financial numbers that were not accurate. Estimated monthly Mortgage numbers were misrepresented (low balled) and our $160 HOA fees became $190 in less than a monthl (with no notification). Cheap materials. Cheapest paint money can buy. Will have to repaint right away. Messy workmanship. Closed in April and 2 months later they still haven’t put our grass and sod in. Several homes here have waited 6 months for their grass& sod. Pulte’s answer to this is: we don’t know... meanwhile our mud has washed down driveways and stained them and sidewalks. Yards are washing out. Poor!

There's no communication between the superintendent and the sales side. Over and over again we were called about setting a closing date when the house wasn't even finished yet. It's 2 months after closing, and we still don't have a replacement garage door panel. This was documented that this still needed to be replaced after closing. We were impressed with the design and spec of the house and decided to go with Pulte vs. other builders during the pandemic. Once we sat down, we recognized several red flags but went ahead because we needed a place. The first one was the premium for the lot. We asked for an estimate of a property next door and the price difference was outrageous. It wasn't a few hundreds but a more than ten thousand with less options than our current lot. Just not what I would have expected from a national builder. The house keeps us dry but that’s about all I can say about it. Very strange building techniques and materials. Very loud with outside noise. Cold and hot spots throughout. Exposed wires, etc. Just very poor effort overall. I would never recommend a Pulte home to anyone.

Different departments had different versions of what is included and what are upgrades. Very confusing buying process especially for new buyers. Found very basic issues (like creaking bathroom floors, kitchen hardwood floors, loose lighting fixtures , electrical wiring issues - dryer wouldnt turn on due to faulty and dangerous wiring mistake) - these should have been taken care of during the quality reviews / inspections.

The attention to detail or lack there of really was disappointing. Lots of bumps in the road and still finding the little things that were sloppy in the craftsmanship. You can tell that everything was done with speed not care. Don’t even get me started with the sales representative.

After moving in we noticed the Drywall texturing on our home was extremely bad. You can see lines, holes, defects, and areas that was not finished or sanded, etc. To date, workers have spent 5 days of re-texturing and sanding. And now, 3 days so far, of painting our home and probably another 2 ti 3 days to finish painting Then, they need to send cleaning crew to clean as well as cleaning the air ducts due to ALL the dust that have accumulated. Pulte's Quality control should have caught this issues prior to move.

We got a good deal our house, but if you're OCD in any way, don't go with Pulte. The longer I've been here the more I've noticed how the air vents, lights, outlets, etc. are not lined up with each other which is shocking. The trim board is literally cardboard and doesn't seem of high quality. Also, we had an issue with a door handle not working within the first 30 days. The builder just dropped the parts off at our door for us to fix it ourselves. He didn't ring the doorbell or anything. That was also shocking to me.
