My experience wasn't a good one.

Michelle was Richmond Americans sales rep and I was her first sell and you could tell. Anytime we asked to see the house she would schedule an appointment get to the house and give us a 5 minute time limit say she needs to get on to her next appointment and did the exact same thing day of closing. Day of tape walk through it went good lots of paint and drywall errors Mike was great, the final walk through a week later come back and the paint is done but with different paint ex. the walls that are flat paint were touched up with satin, they painters got paint all along the carpet and were supposed to return and a month later still haven’t. Mike had said he was going to finish working on unfinished items and then never got around to it. Electricity is messed up that when fans where installed in front bedroom and bedrooms up stairs it will turn 1 on up stairs and 1 downstairs the either both work or both don’t. Outlets are crap the majority your unable to plug anything into them. In one of the rooms up stairs if you plug anything in the outlet all the electricity goes out up stairs. ... More

First time buying a house and it's been quite the experience. Not all the things were done that were supposed to be prior to settlement. Never got everything I was promised in the deal. I feel like after everything was signed I became chop liver. I regret buying this house.

Great financing and shopping experience. Warranty is slacking on coming out and getting in contact with me. Submitted a water damage request over two weeks ago and have yet to hear back.

This is difficult because not every team should be grouped into a rating whereby their performance and responsiveness is tallied with other groups that do not meet a certain standard. The volume that each team has to handle and move production through the process should not be measured collectively nor grouped with another team whose standards fall short of client expectations. Ratings above need to be grouped into the different teams so each team can be rated accordingly. Overall the Sales team, Design Center, and Finance Teams met our expectations and were an absolute pleasure to work with but once production began, Line Production fell short. Knowing that the vendor / contractors in which Richmond contracts with are an absolute representation of the workmanship and quality standards I hold Richmond to, make your vendor / contractors accountable. If I have an issue with quality and craftsmanship so should Richmond. I shouldn’t have to concede to and/or lower my standards because it is a burden to a Richmond representative or that he/she is just Reluctant to Resolve in managing the quality issues I have with the final product. Defend your clients, not your contractors. Hold them to the same standards of quality and craftsmanship I bought into during the initial purchase phase, especially when thousands of dollars are invested in with upgrades and higher quality materials. ... We purchased our first homes from Richmond. The long and stressful process was marred by the sales associate, as she was inattentive and careless. She failed to order the appliances, so we had to remind her of them. They were delayed and arrived late, so we had to discard all of our refrigerated groceries upon move-in. We explained the situation to her, and she simply ignored our calls and emails. We still have not received an apology from her. Overall, we are happy with our home, and we love its design and layout. The paint job was done poorly, as it will take a while for us to remove all the pain splattered on all outlet covers, stove, baseboards, and doors. ... More

Bought a new house on a new subdivision, as many other houses are getting built, lots of trash blows all over the place and most to the park and driveways. HOA just sends letters to all home owners, to tell us to clean after ourselves, knowing that 98% of trash is from construction trades .

I purchased my first home in Dec 2023. There were pending things to get fixed at the last walkthrough; however, as of today's date, we continue waiting for the builder to complete this. No one has contacted me to follow up but only after me reaching out. It has been a very disappointing experience. We bought this home with a lot of time and effort. Staff responsiveness and attention to this matter has been very poor.

Make sure all sales incentives are reflected correctly prior to closing. Sales team is non-responsive even if matters are included and followed up on in writing with the lender, Gallery, escrow and Sales representatives. This is my second Home with Richmond American and this item has ruined the experience.

Richmond American has several areas the home buyer has to deal with from sales, design center, electrical company for added options, mortgage company, home insurance company, mortgage department, loan officer, etc. It seems everyone does their own thing and your giving the same information to different people at different times. The process becomes extremely draining. They need one person to gather information who can pass it along. Their computer system constantly sends emails requesting documents to be completed even though the documents were completed and submitted to individuals already. Last but not least, we selected the deluxe upgraded shower in the master bathroom only to find out during the walkthrough that the glass shower door was not installed. We were told it was the responsibility of three different people and then it was put on the buyer that it was not selected in the design center. The assumption was that if you selected the deluxe upgraded shower and you picked the upgraded tile the door would be there. Obviously it was not so now we will have to hire a company to make the door and install it at our expense. Moral of the story, CHECK OUT EVERY DETAIL BEFORE YOU SIGN ON THE DOTTED LINE. I wish I would bought somewhere else

I came into the sales office, but my Real Estate Agent had a family emergency, and I went by myself as I didn't want to reschedule. I provided the Richmond American Rep with all his information. When we confirmed that I qualified for the Trade Discount we had to remove my agent (who fortunately was ok with it) from the contract. Despite signing all the Richmond American Finance paperwork identifying this home as a primary residence they would only approve me as an investment. When I asked for the Real Estate Agent to be reinstated on my contract Richmond American Refused. This could possibly be illegal. Upon doing my first walk thru there were several issues, missing appliances, etc. Jesse the builder rep for American Richmond assured me they would get done by closing. Due to the missing components such as the stove, and other items I had to pay an extra fee of $450 to the appraiser to come back out once the house was completed. Richmond American should pay this fee and I'm sure they are legally bound to. Upon my final walk there was still many items not completed, the soft water system wasn't installed yet, and the osmosis system is still not installed to date. The house was dirty, all kinds of paint etc. on windows of the French doors and front door of which i spent a lot of money to upgrade. Jesse assured me he would get it all done asap after close. It's been over a month and still not completed. To top it off your sales agent Chad purchased a new home only two houses down as a PRIMARY receiving the trade discount that was taken away from me and literally within a week of its completion is renting it out. Furthermore, everyone in the office knows about it. I was told by one of your reps that he has a 3-year agreement for $2100 a month. This is truly unethical!!!! I am still considering legal action as a result of being discriminated where you allow your own employee to violate company policy, lie on a legal finance form subject to penalty of perjury as he stated it was a primary residence, and never lived in it for one day. You did not allow me to do the same. Why? Cause I have Hispanic heritage? Not Sure. My house is still not fixed, still missing major components, and has held up the process for me to occupy this home. ... More

Such a great experience as my first home

Seems to be a good amount of problems

The builders will address things well and are fairly responsive. The sales team is not responsive and will not do much to keep promises.

Overall I had a moderately good experience. I do feel like I had to stay on top of the builder to make sure most of the outstanding items were followed up on before the closing date which I didn't expect with such a short closing period before the holidays. There were also a lot of nails and materials left in the backyard which I didn't anticipate. In general the sales office was helpful and my builder contacts were mostly responsive. I do feel they would of been more attentive if I was able to review their work more often but unfortunately I don't live in the state so that wasn't an option. ... More

Sooo happy with Richmond home from day one till close.

This was our first home purchase but not the first exposure to the home buying experience. A family member recently closed on a new construction from a different builder and it was a headache and total mess for them. We all know about the horror stories. Our expectations were low and we figured it’d be like pulling teeth to have any concerns addressed. This was not the case! We couldn’t be happier with our home. Jesse, Rex, and Chad at Desert Oasis II truly deserve to be recognized. Thank you gentlemen for our forever home. We will raise a family in our house and make lasting memories. This wouldn’t be possible if it wasn’t for the care and attention from start to finish. I am a detailed oriented person and was floored by the quality of craftsmanship that Jesse and Rex turned out on our home. We have had nothing but great things to say about Richmond American to our family and friends. Good plans! Workmanship is poor. And supervision of construction. Very poor. I still have issues that I need to now try to get fixed on my time. I’ll be by the grace of God to get these things done. Not to mention some of the main construction there’s issues. I still may have to take things up to the Better Business Bureau.

I just liked the way I was treated by everyone I came in contact with. So far so good. Thx Marco

Overall my experience with Richmond American has been alright. In the beginning, my sales associate through Richmond Casey was great. He went down step by step through the process and what I would be needed to do and what I should expect throughout this process. He sold me on being very intuitive and putting a personal touch on all aspects of the home buying process and he'd be there will us every step of the way. Turns out 2 months before closing, Casey just ghosted us basically and left my wife and I to practically fend for ourselves. He should probably change his sales pitch. For all of our walk through, he no showed, no email, no text, no nothing about him not being there. When it came to closing, he never communicated to us via email. He'd call me and tell me he was working on things on the back end but nothing he was working on can true and when I asked him to email me everything we talked about so I had it in writing, he never sent it. I think my realtor and I asked Casey to put these things in writing 6-7 times and he never did. The only bright spot of things was the superintendent Justin. Justin was there for us during the walk throughs and closing period when Casey was not. Justin made sure any issues that we saw were taken care of or he scheduled someone to come out to fix those issues as soon as possible. He has communicated great and overall has been Richmond Americans saving grace for this review not being vastly worse. We love our home; we love the community and quality of the home with the materials it was used to build it. It was our experience during the last couple months with the sales associate Casey that left us with a beyond sour taste in our mouths. We are glad Justin was able to help us in the end! ... More

Probably the worst experience dealing with them to call back or follow up on items that need repairing. Would never buy a house from them. I moved in 3 months ago never got my repairs done from the first initial walk through. They said they where going to do a 30 follow I called them after 2 1/2 months. They came out and looked at the items from the first walk through and crickets again. Still waiting sucks when you spend 1/2 of million on a house and customer service sucks.

Sales people were somewhat helpful. Did not disclose some issues specific to lot. Home office was no help. Switched superintendents during construction. Pushed for an early close prior to year end yet haven't completed all punch items so can't use part of house

We did not go through the customizing so cannot speak to that. However, our experience throughout the purchase and after has been sad. We paid for an outside inspection, highly recommended, and had a huge report on a new home. The first site guy was terrible to work with then we got Chad. He helped move the process along but there were still a bunch of items that were never done properly before our close. Still waiting on cabinet repairs (3 months later) and it took a full on fight to use our "warranty" to fix a gas leak at the range. I would not recommend friends or family to use this builder at this time. ... More

Jim at sales was very friendly and answered all the questions we had during our purchase.Jose the field supervisor was very helpful during the building process,noteverything was perfect but the response team was responsive
