Purchasing/ management side was fantastic! The only downside is the builders. When I pointed things out to fix, the builders would cut corners ie. Asked for large rocks & trash removed from crawlspace. Later found out they moved it into a dark corner and put plastic on it to hide the issue... be sure to check EVERYTHING you point out to fix because if they think they'll get away with it they'll try to... their manager was good though I blame the workers.

We have been in the house for a little over a month and items are still not complete. In fairness, it is the holiday season and there is a lot going on but some of the items that could have been easily fixed or completed have not been completed. We have a good relatioinship with the team and they have been available for any 'must fix now' items. Looking forward to completing the warrenty work.

The home buying experience was pretty decent, however I didn't like how I was expected to read all my paperwork and understand all the terminology used, without anyone going over it with me. Being a first time home buyer it would have been nice if someone took the time to go over things with me. I couldn't share my documents with my realtor either. Responsiveness to issues is very poor, it took 3 weeks to address my garage door opener issue, and nearly 2 months to obtain a working set of keys to my home.

Honestly the quality of the home mostly seems to be poor. The craftsmanship shows plenty of cut corners. We were lied about a free fence being installed in our backyard and then were quoted over $1000 by Richmond’s fence contractor. The air conditioner has yet to be installed 2 months after moving in and the installers of the HVAC system did a pathetic job. There are some nice features of the home but for the most part it’s clear this company is only after money and have no regard for the homeowner. Fortunately the superintendent of our community has always been helpful.

Our experience with Richmond American was mixed. The trust level and interaction with a offsite sales representative was poor, but the follow up with the construction supervisor was excellent. The quality is what is to be expected with a starter type home.

Still waiting

The homes are nice. Still waiting on the 30-day inspection and I’ve been living here for almost four months now. My home was kind of a rush job so things still need fixing.

Poor Craftsmanship throughout the home

Overall, it’s clear that Richmond American used the cheapest materials and cheapest workers to put up the home as quick as possible. The community roads are terrible with the asphalt having huge dips likely due to unsettled ground or the ground not being compacted correctly. I highly recommend getting a inspection from a quality person prior to closing. Our inspector found a multitude of small issues that quite frankly shouldn’t have happened in a brand new 2024 build. Richmond did correct the issues but they shouldn’t have been present the first time. Because we are military and ...

Brandon, Loan

Brandon was harder to get ahold of than the president of the United States. I felt that when myself or my wife would reach out, it was an inconvenience to him. Really made the process difficult and not enjoyable especially it being our first home. Shirley is an absolute angel. Very helpful and easy to talk to!

They haven't followed through on anything

Bought in April 2024, It was great at first, I loved how fast everyone answered and responded. After it closed, suddenly no one responds anymore (see below). Completely shattered my trust in this company. We reported an issue with our showers (not heating up properly), were advised we would get a call back within 24 hours, and weeks later we haven't received any sort of further communication from Richmond. Floor is deeply scuffed in multiple places, something that wasn't present during our initial walkthrough, and one drywall supposed to be fixed(which was reported) was done improperly ...

Our buying experience with Richmond American Homes
- Thomas Lee N.

We are mixed in how we feel about our journey with Richmond American Homes. On one hand, the home is beautiful and we are enjoying getting settled in (we started moving in 1 month ago). On the other hand, had we known what we know now - we won't have purchased this home. The model home and the sales agent, Taylor, led us to believe that our new home would have features/details that it doesn't have. These details mattered to us greatly and convinced us to go with this builder. We were and still are deeply disappointed with the numerous features/details that we don't have. We still have ...

Several construction delays, quality control issues, cheap materials used, and rushing to complete the house while skimping on quality made this experience a terrible experience for us.

Asked Eric to check my roof several times through texting because of a loose shingle. He advised me several times that he would do so. Never got around to it. Finally set an appointment through the home warranty program with Corey have it done on the 18

Went to the model home about 8 months ago. Told the sales person that we wanted the same paint color inside and out to include the stone work like the model home. Elevation F. She said ok. When our home was built it was the complete opposite. Apparently, everything about our house had already been planned by the builder long before it was built. It seems the sales person told us this just to get a sale in my opinion. Since we were deep in the process of buying our home and it would be hard to get our Earnest money back; we begrudgingly decided to take it. The stone workmanship on the ...

Undervalued Customer Experience

I have never felt so undervalued as a customer. We sought out this home in March of last year before construction had even started and attempted to make the whole process as easy as possible. We were flexible with all date changes and issues that came up, and throughout the entire time, we never felt like we were a priority. It was extremely disheartening as a military family who had to move across the country for our dream home to face many hurdles and issues in this home-buying process, along with the extreme rudeness and lack of help by the closing director (Amy) who seemed like we were ...

The main waterline broke three days after moving in

Stuff breaks and I get it but when you’re told this has happened repeatedly as you’re watching your brand new home being filled with water it’s devastating. But the true anger started after that with a horrible response that I’ve had from Richmond since the flood.
