I had a deeply disappointing experience working with Richmond American Homes and their mortgage services(Home American Mortgage). As a first time homebuyer, I expected guidance and support throughout the process instead, I felt completely abandoned. Calls went unanswered, my questions were ignored, and I was left to navigate complex and stressful decisions entirely on my own. This was supposed to be an exciting milestone, but instead, it became a source of anxiety and frustration. I would not recommend Richmond American to anyone, especially first time buyers who need responsiveness and transparency. They not give you clear information and last minutes asking million questions you not expecting. Their house is not good quality any more after 2019

This Home Buying Experience was As horrible as I think they come. This is Due to a failure at the lowest level to the Supers inability to follow through on their own check list, To the sales agent who has never contacted me after the purchase date/ To the Contractors and Subs who completed the shotty work. The first issue came when winter came and tried to blow out the sprinklers the home builders excavators did not properly install my shut off valve and in order to turn that off and on I have to call the county/ Refused to fix. My shingles were not connected to roof and had no paper flew off in a small windstorm, repair was completed by their repair guys who also inspected their own work and said no other issues and as i soon learned after the 8 inch snow storm and a new leak at covered sliding patio door that was not the case, as i am not a roof guy I hired an inspector who discovered it was improperly installed- Refusing to repair warranty is., Had a inspector to verify and of course out of 203 inspected items 30 items who discovered. Subfloors have holes in them after carpet was took out by their own floor guys I was advised not covered by warranty, but they would fix it - After over $3000/00 for supplies and install the floor doesn't have holes but the slope is still there also detected by home inspector. The furnace has a condensation leak, Things were not secured properly, Warranty advised do not fill out warranty request online just tell the warranty rep and she would fix it. Was not given second garage remote, garage was not pressure washed, house was dirty. Someone was supposed to reach out to get this scheduled and I have not heard from anyone.

Since the beginning of the purchase was not clear and the communication not at all. For approval of purchase took to long to said not approved and in the between of the process they always ask for documents that was already upload in the portal meaning they never look the docs provide. After purchase of the house I am still waiting to solve or repair the issues that was address.

Likely the worst home buying experience I have had which includes 13 purchases, four of which were new builds. I thought I was moving into a move-in ready home -as that is what was advertised - and it was so very far from that. The issues that I have experienced have been blown off as things that I should expect in buying a house, but I really don’t expect so many significant defects and poor workmanship.

The house was purchased under the assumption that it is new and will be covered under warranty if something is not right. That was a big mistake. The house was not ready on the date of closing with plenty of outstanding defects identified during pre-closing walk-through. The builder was not willing to fix them all before closing and forced us into closing or lose the deposit. The construction crew were working on the house even on the revised closing date. Then the repairs just stopped after closing and we have to chase down the superintendent constantly to work on the promised repairs. A lot of defects were still not fixed and now we deal with warranty team and it tried to exclude many defects that have been identified. Very Poor experience. They have yet to fix the issues with the home. They give an excuse for everything and push back on fixing items that need to be repaired or replaced. Very poor workmanship. Sliding door is broken, basement floor and carpet are poorly installed, plumbing, foundational issues etc. Buyer Beware!

If I had it to do over I’d never buy a house from them. Do yourself a favor and run as fast as you can in the other direction.
