This is my 4th new construction, all with different builders and the quality of the workmanship has been the worst so far. After a month none of the “within 30 day” repairs have been completed. Several rusty nails have been found in the front and back yards. The yard has many low spots in excess of 6”. The sod along the back fence was dead, promised to be fixed and never was. I replaced it myself. Floor boards were replaced once and require continue work due to the replacement damaging adjacent boards. Several area of trim work still need to be fixed. The builder rep makes several promises to ...

These houses scream one thing … CHEAP…. You would think when you pay 300+k for a new construction it would come with little to no problems Right ? WRONG …first off, irrigation was busted when I moved in , 2nd main bathroom had exterior leak… once u buy the house the communication is immediately cut inhalf… this house can’t go a month without an issue.. 3rd problem is floor creeks so badly in 3 different spots can’t use the bathroom without waking up the wife.. I was told this was “NORMAL” thing. LOL WHAT A JOKE… LYING through his teeth (won’t say who)…another thing is lights flicker when ac ...

We've had to gradually accept the sad truth that, in this day and age, you can't find anyone who will deliver an acceptable product. The housing industry is no exception. Over many months, we observed the building of our new house, in addition to multiple homes in our neighborhood and others. What we saw was subpar work, done hurriedly by workers who either A) don't know what they're doing or B) simply don't care. They obviously put quantity over quality, and the proof shows in the final result. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain here in detail Richmond's failings ...

In the race to the bottom for quality of materials and craftsmanship, Richmond is winning. And you can’t get there without a commitment to low standards and blind-eye integrity - those things start at the top.

Not a great experience

It started from the beginning where the sales rep wasn't sure about how to input our info. We ended up having to do these forms about correct names due to her not entering our driver's license correctly and it went down hill from there. The superintendent got fired and there were a lot of things wrong with the build and still are until the warranty person comes. Guest bathroom is a mess and most of the products used were cheaply made. Overall experience was poor.

Richmond American Homes responded:
Hi, George. Thanks for reaching out! I got in touch with your local team and it’s my understanding they’re working with you to schedule your remaining items. They’re in the best position to help you if you need anything else.

Terrible experience

It started with being told Richmond wanted to close at the end of September. I was told at the end of the month they had no intention of doing so and the construction crew had until the end of October to finish. My family moved across country and had to live in hotels and Air BnBs paying out of pocket. The garage flooring was left cracked with nails and glue still on it, ice maker in refrigerator still doesn’t work, home wasn’t pressure washed, yard was trashed during irrigation maintenance which still floods my yard. I had to reschedule movers multiple times due to Richmond’s delays. There ...

The houses are slapped together as fast as possible with multiple serious errors. Much talk, but little action is expended in resolving the issues. I DARE Richmond American to contact me. They won't.

Disappointing to say the least

During our build there was turnover in some key positions which led to delays, poor communication, and ultimately a disappointing final product. The unnecessary delays led to additional storage and alternative living expenses that added up. The poor communication led to a lack of accountability during the building process, and this became evident when the final product was made available. At closing, the house was incomplete and lacked the level of pride and craftsmanship one would expect for a home in this price range. From large, egregious errors (Example: exhaust vent fan falling out of ...

All team members from sales to completion failed to communicate with one another. Poor or NO customer service!

This review is being written jointly by husband & wife but this form only allows for one name. As requested, it is being written as to what we would want a new home owner to know. Don't expect cohesive customer service from any team member from sales thru completion of build. Note: when you do punch list, add a note indicating other things may be discovered after moving in (i.e. plumbers failed to connect dishwasher hose/drain hose up causing flooding of cabinetry under kitchen counter; carpet installers failed to put carpet strips over tacks underneath carpet at entrance ways to tiled ...

Told I could have fence when buying and when I followed procedure through HOA was told fences are not allowed. Covenant 6.15 on page 15 says fences are allowed. My well being and quality of life are diminished and I am sorry I bought here. The 60k I put down could have gone to more suitable place for my family. I am violated here and every time I walk by the model homes with the fence around them, I relive the violation.

I have had to loose four days of work and Im still counting because not all the work was done in a workmanship like manner (it was all subpar). I have photos if you would like. From day one...my yard was completely trashed, I had no hot water, the air was not working, the refrigerator was leaking heavily (they came out twice to fix it). The microwave was installed wrong and it is still not working properly (the vent is not working, this will be the 3rd trip and another day lost at work for me). The materials were bad. My front door had severe damage and had to be replace along with the ...

Worst Experience with Richmond

Not only were there delays along the way, the whole process was extremely unprofessional. Our inspector found two leaks prior to closing and they were less than accommodating. The first walk through was put on us as homeowners to point out deficiencies (which 30 days after closing 90% of the list has not even been discussed). Upon moving in we noticed a THIRD leak which was blamed on everything else and it took 3 plumbers to come in to identify and remedy the problem. Sewage came INTO our house from the toilet they left unattached AND we found roofing screws in our drain. Warranty said they ...
