House is okay, contractors are rude.

The house is decent, even though there are some finishing touches that need to be resolved. There seems to be no policing of the contractors that are still building homes right across from us. We expected noise, that’s part of building new houses, however the constant music and the trash everywhere is ridiculous. The contractors also park wherever they want, including in front of our driveway. We have to abide by the HOA rules, but the contractors can do whatever they want, and it’s very frustrating to live next to!

My Richmond American Home Building Experience - its not about relationships

We just purchased an Idaho Richmond American spec home. Although it was a spec home, we entered into a purchase contract just as the build began. The Richmond sales team was very friendly and reachable in those early days. We signed their contract and completed their down payment early. After that though, everything changed. Now the salesperson and project manager seemed to avoid us. Their prior promises really didn't seem to matter anymore. For example, one promise they made was that the build could be prioritized and the completion date advanced if we needed it. We needed it. Now though, ...

Not a good experience

Unfortunately, our experience with Richmond American Homes was not a pleasant one. Poor communication, very slow to respond to questions and concerns, and was told false information about some of the items we chose. Financing was also not trust worthy. We found equal to better financing with outside financial institutions that didn't charge for items to make up the "discounts" Richmond American offered. We just can't recommend Richmond American because of our experience.

Richmond American Homes responded:
Hi Michael, thank you for reaching out. I conveyed your concerns to our local team and they are working on getting in contact with you. They are in the best position to assist you moving forward. Thank you for giving us a chance to help!

Terrible home buying experience

This was a terrible home buying experience. Terrible communication from Dan. Did walk through and most items were not completed at closing. Back yard landscape is extremely poor workmanship. No attention to detail in house. Dark cabinets and they install a white vent cover. No drawers in second bedroom. No place to put a towel bar. In master bathroom. The list goes on. . Hid the fact that we had a 12’ deep easement at the rear yard so back yard is much smaller than expected.

Richmond American Homes responded:
Hi, Scot. I reached out to your local team and they let me know they’re in contact with you regarding your outstanding work request. They are your best point of contact if you have further questions. Thanks for giving us a chance to help!

Worst Experience out of 6 new home purchases in my lifetime.

I would not recommend Richmond to anyone. This was the worst home buying experience of my life. I have purchased 11 homes (6 of them new) in 4 different states. Richmond was by far the worst company to deal with. The sales associate was so short handed and over-worked that he could not get back to us regarding issues. They also changed the agreed upon price after I signed all of the paperwork. Then they tried to change it one more time and they relented when I threatened to back out of the purchase. At closing, it happened one more time. They gave all of the final closing numbers to the title ...

Richmond American Homes responded:
Hello, Michael. I'm sorry to hear that it was a frustrating experience. If you'd like me to contact our team on your behalf, please email jeff.jenkins@mdch.com and I'd be happy to reach out to them.
