Beautiful home with a bad buying experience

Overall I can say we love our Richmond American home. However the buying experience did not go as smoothly as I imagined it to be when it came down to closing. Our house was definitely not ready to close on our closing date. I was pushed back once already for a stairwell railing replacement due to the wrong railing installed. I wish I could of delayed our closing again due to the fact our house was very dirty on our closing date. My first 2 days of owning the house was spent cleaning the entirety of the house from dust and dirt. It took several repeats of deep cleaning to remove dirt and ...

Our closing date was changed twice due to missing electrical and gas meter. Moving my family from the far side of the state, made our experience even worse on so many levels. After the final walkthrough and after we moved in, we noticed a few items that still have not been addressed. For example, we have a temporary oven. Still waiting for the one we ordered, in the laundry room the wrong fuse amp was installed. Its supposed to be 20 amp instead of 15, therefore we haven't washed our clothes going 2 weeks! The laundry room cabinet is partially installed, front porch light is not ...

Had a lousy time dealing with the underwriters very lengthy plus the loan process equally, the home came with no ceiling fans or garage door openers or outside garage lighting and needed quite a few touch ups. Block wall had a big gap on corner back yard.and they used flat paint on most of the house except bathrooms

Happy in home now buy buying experience felt dishonest

We are happy in our home now but the buying experience felt unhonest, we requested a home and radon inspection before closing and felt as we got excuses to avoid getting the inspection done that if any issues arises they would be covered after closing was completed, it’s been over a month and we haven’t received a call or text or any type of follow up for things that need to get fixed in the home after closing. Inspections was completed after closing and it felt as after. Losing all communication stopped in regards to getting our issues fixed we got the run around that we have to go through ...

Overall we love our new home, the design , space and flooring are the best. We did not like the fact the loan company did 3 separate credit inquires within 6 months. This greatly decreased my credit score. I did not also like the fact that we had to call several times for your company to fix a broken tile and fill up a hole next the water and gas meters.

Nice home, nice lot. Craftsmanship could be a little better but not bad. Beware of an annual ($1,200) Silverleaf Master Owners Association due that is NOT included with the quarterly HOA dues. Evidently I am not the only one that was not told about this additional cost to live in this development according to a representative that collects these dues.

The whole process of loan approval was a mess. It was very disorganized, bad communication, time management, last minute work (Mike the loan officer did not have a good communication and I felt was very behind and disorganized) the whole process was very stressful, not a good experience. On the other hand Rene was awesome, great person and experienced.

The building process was very good. The follow up after has not been as good. We did not receive any training on how to operate our appliances. Now that we are here, we are unable to register with the home warrantee company, and are having an issue with at least one appliance.

Purchased the home last year, purchase was not very efficient because there was to many people involved. A lot of moving parts in the purchase, which was ok but person helping with purchase did not communicate with us. I had to do a lot of follow up calls to find out delays and problems with build. We initially put down 1000 dollars and told we would get the money back, at the end we did not get it back. It was applied to the purchase price which was not part of the purchase. There was so many problems with the in house lender, starting from problems with uploading documents to the ...

We had a good experience with our sales rep Betty from when we first met her. This made us proceed with the purchase of our home. We were told from the start that it would take 6-8 months to build & complete our home to which we were okay with. We finally moved into our home & after a few days of unpacking, decorating our new home, & having to finally get familiarized with everything, we noticed many things to which it looked like the builder/contractors rushed on installing. We have submitted a few warranty tickets already (Paul has been fantastic) but it is upsetting & ridiculous. I ...

Frustrating but Fun Process Leads to Beautiful Home

The Richmond-built home that we bought is beautiful and we love it. The struggle was all worth it. The lead-up to closing was stressful because RAH has many rules and restrictions in place that are not buyer-friendly, for example: restriction on pre-closing home inspection, restriction on who can be present during the walkthrough, restricted entry prior to closing. The construction crew were always friendly and helped us with pictures as we planned furniture though! The sales team was great at first, but I can't help but correlate their change in attitude with our desire to not use their ...

Overall my experience with Richmond American has been alright. In the beginning, my sales associate through Richmond Casey was great. He went down step by step through the process and what I would be needed to do and what I should expect throughout this process. He sold me on being very intuitive and putting a personal touch on all aspects of the home buying process and he'd be there will us every step of the way. Turns out 2 months before closing, Casey just ghosted us basically and left my wife and I to practically fend for ourselves. He should probably change his sales pitch. For all of ...

paint splatter all over the new vinyl floor. garage was used to mix paint without using a drop cloth. i assumed when they turned over the house the garage floor would be cleaned. it was left a mess. 90% of the garage floor covered in paint splatter. customers shouldnt have to point out the obvious mess. workers take no pride in caring for the new home. noticed scratches on counter tops from tools. cabinet drawers misaligned. The electrician on the other hand took pride in his work. noticed all wall outlet screws were all aligned. small things do get noticed.

We had an ok buying experience. Our sales agent was great and super responsive. The main issue we had was with the loan processor Alyssa. She was horrible. Asking for things multiple times, asking for things then letting them expire, asking for uncessary items. She seemed very new and that she had no experience with VA loan requirements. Even after closing we were asked to send back the closing check because they dispersed the wrong amount and had us sign more papers because they were missed. 10/10 would NOT recommend using Richmond American Financing.
