Had a major water leak first week of moving in, had to have whole ceiling replaced in kitchen and living room

I would advise you get a third party inspector to ensure the roof won't leak. I'm also unimpressed with the quality of materials used for the cabinets - no slow close hinges or higher quality wood. Be careful to not be fooled by the "design package" document which shows just SOME of the design elements that will be included in your house. We were showed a design package with hexagonal tiling for the master bath, but instead, we have a cheap plastic master shower.

During our final walk through we identified many things that needed to be addressed or fixed. We have been in our new home for well over a month and several of those issues have yet to be resolved. I have heard many times, from multiple people that "we will take care of it", yet we continue to wait. They did take care of certain issues, but others are still incomplete.

When I was placed on contract for my home, the building process moved very slowly. After some adjustments, things seemed to get back on track. However, I am not pleased with the limited customization, such as adding additional speakers, a swimming pool, a fence, etc., to the mortgage. During inspections and closing, the enthusiasm to make the necessary fixes was apparent, but some things did not get done. I'm still waiting for my driveway to be cleaned because my final walk-thru was on a rainy day.

My only issue is repairs that promise to be fixed have not been fixed or partially fixed. And every home in my subdivision foundation isn’t showing like it is on my home. It seems like another piece of siding should go there. So unfortunately I’m not happy until this matter is taking care of.

The overall purchasing experience with Richmond homes was good. The responsiveness to the issues we’ve had was delayed or still ongoing. Some items from our final walk through were not corrected. Having a leaking sink the second week living here and water damage has taken place. It took Richmond a week to respond and resolve. Very beautiful homes. Very poor service.

Paul the 'forman' ? Is unfit for employment with any company that needs and desires a capable, clean, responsible person

He was evasive, loud mouthed, disrespectful to me on multiple occasions. I do not want him on my property. I note Paul has a visual deficit, he 'cannot see ' the simple and obvious items that need repair and attention. Sales by Jill was fabulous. Very kind , knowledgeable and professional, attentive to all my new home questions. Paul is a down size to Richmond homes. He is not welcome on my property after his aggressive behavior. I have neighbors here that have expressed the same. Sincerely, Rita A

Our first time purchasing a brand new home and it was an okay experience the sales guy was not much help he mislead us in a few ways not very helpful. The head builder guy you contact for issues superintendent was completely worthless and he would ignore our issues had to get the higher ups involved!. Finally they are coming out to fix some issues but still waiting on others to get resolved.

Richmond overall is a great company and builder. Jim and Angie were wonderful to work with with the process. I am impressed Richmond honored our earnest money thru our unfortunate uncontrollable process. Our first home build was amazing. The one we finally purchased was a disaster from workmanship perspective. A 4 hour walk thru with all the issues, we weren’t able to go over the important things most people do during a walk thru. We paid for an inspection and when we brought that up, the general don’t remember his name, answered oh that’s just how it is? Why waste money for an inspection if ...

The builders’ representatives are little concerned with pleasing or helping potential buyers, except as it gets a sale made. Different areas of the company don’t even know each other, much less communicate or work together. Someone in the higher leadership in this company could make a BIG difference by having serving others well the cultural foundation value.

We have owned the house five weeks and only one thing has been completed from the final walk thru list. It is hard to find a wall in the house that is straight. The framing crew did a poor job or the framing material was of poor quality. The dishwasher is poor quality.

Very disappointing to call for a warranty after we moved, lots things are not working as expected. Emergency calls are not properly addressed until we resolve it on our own. We have to call an electrician and paid out of pocket just to resolve the issues we moved 3 weeks ago and most of the issues we submitted are still pending. I never heard any reply from anybody.

We've been at our New Richmond American Home for about 3 months, and we have come across multiple issues before we've moved in and even before we received our keys to our home, someone kicked in the side garage door and stole our Waterless Water Heater, although it was replaced the door still needs to be looked at, because it does not look like it did before. Also touch-up paint at out address was brought to the attention from the start and still has not been done, there were a few items that were repaired when we put in a Warranty Request or when we talked to Sam the Supervisor, but the ...

Definitely a rush job to complete as many homes as possible. Kind of sad companies get away with this stuff. Most of the contractors in the neighborhood dont have company cars, no company outfits.. Literally just dudes off the street. I can go on and on as to the problems we've experience but I dont want to write an essay here. Most of our problems would have been resolved if whoever is reviewing the work of others wasn't content with mediocrity.

Disappointing Experience with Richmond American Homes: Quality and Service Fall Short

Our experience with Richmond American Homes has been disappointing from the beginning. Upon purchasing our home, we discovered several issues that needed attention. Unfortunately, the response time to address these concerns was unacceptably slow, and commitments to fix them were often delayed or missed entirely. It took countless follow-up conversations to see any progress. Contractors claimed they attempted repairs but couldn’t access the home, despite no arrangements for entry being made. As a result, many fixes only occurred after we moved in, forcing us to repeatedly rearrange ...

Bought a brand new home with Richmond Homes via our own realtor and mortgage broker. Whole process was smooth, minus our first original interested house being sold beneath us the day we said we will put in an offer. We lucked out though and got a better lot anyway. The disappointment lays within the craftsmanship. We had paint run off on the roofs, blue tape from BOTH inspections not taken care of until we pushed and pushed and pushed for a fix but the pre inspection lady just brushed it off and said “that’s just a smudge, it will wipe off”, when clearly it was not. We have lived in our ...

Warranty issues and fear that I made a mistake buying this home

I have been in my home for one month and have multiple issues. I had a major roof leak, which has been a fight and has not been complete. The soil surrounding the home is so bad and was not compacted that every estimate for landscaping has mentioned to complete the yard adequately, that I would need to put in about 15k worth of dirt before doing any landscaping. The recent rains have caused major movement in cement and my driveway is already heaving. The cement in my backyard cracks more and more every day. Walk through items on day of closing are yet to be looked at. Carpet is coming ...

Wonderful builder that cares about the small details. Quality materials. Stay away from their recommended Lender. Will cause headaches at best, delays and penalties and risks loss of deposit. Because of the Lenders experience, I took away some stars. Imagine the feeling of unable to close due to Lender wanting proof that something that was NOT done, waiting for IRS response, and delay penalties accruing daily for weeks and to the point of forfeiting the down payment deposit.
