To know what I know now I would have made a different choice in purchasing a new home. Quality of materials Craftsmanship Responsiveness to issues Are all the reasons I would have chosen another builder. I do believe the people who work at Richmond (for the most part) want to do the right thing; however, they are hindered by turn over, horrible contractors and bottom of the barrel materials. Left a lot of open repairs when closing. Multiple electrical issues with no warranty response. Grading & Drainage is insufficient. Not worth the price paid.

My experience has been bad from the start. We originally wanted to design our own house but the lot we wanted “wasn’t available yet” so we decided on a pre approved plan. It was also on a corner and the bedroom and larger side of the yard was on the corner side away from the neighbors. We were assured this is the exact layout of the house we were buying and happy with our purchase. Overall, this was a messy process especially for first time home buyers. The amount of documentation we needed to provide and explained at times seemed very excessive. Just wasn't a smooth or exciting experience. We ended up getting through it and in the end we love the home we bought, but the process overall was not pleasant and at times we felt like quitting. Sales and Finance departments Criminal.

Sales person, not the one we were talking with,made fun of us as we walked out the door after spending a hour going over lot choices, model selection, and down payment. Sales man we worked with lied on several occasions . Financial department wanted us to submit a document that we and they knew was fraudulent at their request. Head of department later said we would have been approved for our loan had we submitted the fraudulent document.

Paperwork was constantly being emailed to us for things that had already been done and when we called about it we were told someone else was reviewing it and send it again and again and again!! Make sure all sales incentives are reflected correctly prior to closing. Sales team is non-responsive even if matters are included and followed up on in writing with the lender, Gallery, escrow and Sales representatives. Throughout the building process we were treated as disposable buyers. Our concerns, questions, requests, all fell by the wayside.
