My experience with American Richmond is overall neutral after my horrible experience with one of their sales representatives named Victoria. She at first was polite and responsive, however after I entered in contract her behavior changed and I wrote her a polite email asking a question to which she responded extremely rudely and dismissively to my inquiries. I made a complaint and sent the email evident to corporate American Richmond. Victoria’s manager also reached out at one point and instead of apologizing for Victoria behavior she began to answer the questions I had originally inquired to Victoria in the original email. When I explained to her the actual issue is Victoria rude behavior she then apologized but it just further proved that they don’t care about the customer experience. After that Victoria then later went behind my back told my realtor, the lender, the title company that I am trying to get her fired and everyone behavior toward me became cold. We had an amazing purchase experience until it came to financing with RA. The contractors interest was attractive but the amount of red tape we had to cross to get to YES was not worth the wait so we sought financing elsewhere Dana appeared to not go that extra mile to assist us but at the end of it all we got the home we wanted!

Moving from Maryland was an adventure. We weren't looking for a new build but this house checked all our boxes. The buying process was good as any house buying process could be. The quality of the house is A++. We couldn't be happier with our new home. The builder notated 98% of deficiencies and had them repaired before closing. Can't say enough about the warranty process too. Very responsive and fantastic customer service.

Our community sales representative Mary was amazing, but our recommend lender was a complete nightmare, if it wasn’t for me being a person that stands on business and did not want to lose a great deal, I would have gone with another lender or just gone somewhere else.

The process from beginning to end was great. Sales office was very communicative and upfront. The fixes requested were done in a timely and effective manner..

I like my home, but I almost backed out over struggles with financing. The portal would allow multiple page uploads on pages that didn't need them, but would not allow on pages that needed them. I had to supply the same paperwork several times...4 times on one issue. I was living in a motel and didn't have access to a desktop or laptop. I would receive alerts that I would need to supply something "immediately" that I had already supplied or my financing was going to be delayed and I would loose my buyer's incentives. As a real estate agent I’ve had many interactions with RAH. As a buyer I was disappointed RAH has stopped allowing buyers to select their upgrades and designs. This made our purchase a bit hard and honestly more expensive on the back end in order for us to get what we wanted. Do better Richmond. For the people giving you business. Your design teams don’t know it all and at times make errors and bad decisions ( like not putting windows on a wall with a MOUNTAIN VIEW). It’s not that important to build homes as fast as you can. People are willing to wait for what they want. On the more personal side, Anne and Mike were amazing and made our experience pleasant and low stress. ... More

Poor communication and information

The beginning was rough. But Jeremy ( RH )and Steve (loan officer)Jennifer (loan processor)step in where my own realtor fell out. The team that does the walk though was amazing!! If not for tough start due to someone leaving and pass-off of clients & miscommunication. I would've marked higher for overall experience. I would recommend.

She is awesome to work with. Extremely thorough, attentive, and follows through. She's communicative, and a problem solver.

I live my new house, layout and design. Wish they could have added installation throughout the whole house. Carpet could have been better. Overall I am happy with the house.

Our agent for Richmond was not the best. The home has been great thus far. The mortgage company Richmond uses is horrible. The first and final walk through was lazy

Our experience with Jee and our building superintendent, Ruben, has been outstanding. Jee has consistently been available to address our questions and provide assistance, while Ruben’s extensive knowledge and helpfulness throughout the entire process have been invaluable. However, I would strongly recommend reconsidering any future transactions with Richmond’s Mortgage team. We found their lack of expertise, failure to review documents promptly, and inability to adhere to a timeline conducive to closing on time both disappointing and surprising. It is concerning that, despite the high standards evident in other areas of their business, their mortgage division fell significantly short, displaying a troubling lack of organization and professionalism. ... Amazing home! Very helpful and a smooth process.

Greg, my sales person was always available and willing to help with all my questions/concerns from start to finish. Superintendent was always communicating with me on a weekly basis and willing to help me understand the construction process. The time line for closing changed 3 times. That cost me extra money for temporary housing.

We love our home. The preferred lender was really great. I feel like the builder agent could have communicated a bit better. It caused a delay of a few months and we had to spend several thousand on an apartment. They wouldn't sell us the lot we wanted because our down payment was contingent on selling our house. We went under contract for a different lot being very clear we intended to transfer to the lot we wanted if it was still available. The home we wanted was supposed to be finished late September/early Oct. But once we went under contract for the lot we didn't want, they stopped working on the house we wanted and rushed to finish the house we put a deposit on. We sold our house, did everything to transfer the paperwork to the original lot we wanted only to find out that now it wouldn't be done until mid December. Kind of threw a wrench in Christmas. The builder also didn't notify us that the house was built 10' further back than the plot map showed until we were under contract. This makes the backyard very small, but we've come to appreciate that we have a view out our side windows whereas everyone else has a view of their neighbors' windows. That's all just some feedback. All of the above will be just a silly memory in a few years. Just odd that they'd stop construction on a house that had a buyer to focus on building a house we told them we weren't interested in. We moved in the new house about 45 days ago and I still have blue tapes everywhere and things that have not been fixed or done from the final walkthrough. Everyday I am discovering new things and the response takes a while to get things fixed here.

After the final walk thru we had 8 items to fix. No one came back to do the work. We had to fix the items ourselves.

Sales people were great…ever other part of the buying experience was not good.

Josh was fantastic. There were a few hiccups. It wasn't a great experience but it wasn't bad. House is great. Process felt really pushy so it was annoying to have to sort of block that off a bit. Overall Josh was great. Process was mediocre from a customer service perspective. Our home is awesome.

Most of the actual buying facts that we responded to were not correct or they were altered to fit Richmond Homes. We were told we were purchasing our home at 2.99 3.99 4.99, never happened. We put an additional $15,000 dollars down to qualify for all the great rates, but that dismal a difference either. We. Were quoted a price, and interest rate and payment from our sales person. They were not accurate and when we went back to question him he left quite. We had know one to help. Even though it was quoted in print it didn’t seem to matter. Then there is the flooding and poor excavation of our property. If it rains we are flooded out on two sides and our back yard. ... More

Overall the experience was good for the situation we found ourselves in (military moving under tight timeline). Shania in sales was great, and really helped us find the best deal and perfect home. This was complicated by being remote movers, operating in a different timezone. Everything went smooth up until closing/final walkthroughs (really first walkthrough for us). Shania got those appointments sorted and it mostly worked out. Found out during final walkthroughs that inspections were still needed before turning keys over, that left some work to do before moving in (still waiting on it to be done). Being so rushed during the process really feels like we missed stuff and has us worried Richmond is going to ignore us now that we are in the home. Originally we worked with Joe, builder superintendent, he has been great running down issues and getting trades to make repairs. Anytime it's been serious i.e leaking water, inop A/C, no dishwasher, etc, Joe has been responsive and immediate. Seems like after we moved in and request went through warranty department everything stopped. We still have issues waiting to be addressed from the initial walkthrough. I feel like if we just kept the relationship with Joe and not gone through warranty, everything would be completed. During the buying and initial move in process, Joe was super helpful and seemed to generally care about us and our home, look forward to working with him again. We were told there would be another walk through at the 30 day mark. We would really appreciate more info on that and love to schedule it. Jessi was the our sales rep. She was fantastic. She answered all of our questions and concerns quickly and responsively, both with sub contractors and our loan reps. James was a great help as a project manager. He took care of seeing that all our concerns regarding the structure were handled quickly and correctly.
