Took 8 months from contract to move-in due to multiple delays. Simple punch list items and warranty items still outstanding 3 months after move-in. Unable to commit to when included landscaping will be done. Superintendent is overwhelmed. In-house financing was executed poorly and closing was unprofessional.

Overall, I am very happy with the home and with using Fidelity National Title as the title company. They knocked it out the ball park with customer service! I was told by Richmond American that my landscaping would be done in spring time but shortly after closing, landscapers showed up without any notice and I did not appreciate that.

Richmond American has several areas the home buyer has to deal with from sales, design center, electrical company for added options, mortgage company, home insurance company, mortgage department, loan officer, etc. It seems everyone does their own thing and your giving the same information to different people at different times. The process becomes extremely draining. They need one person to gather information who can pass it along. Their computer system constantly sends emails requesting documents to be completed even though the documents were completed and submitted to individuals already. ...

Just "Ok" home buying experience

The sales process was quick and easy. Overall the sales team was communicative and transparent. There were typical and atypical bumps and bruises along the way, most of which were resolved in an acceptable timeframe. We were forced into closing before the home was ready, leaving us with three pages of open items and a dirty home to move in to. Richmond and our supervisor Rob did work with us to resolve all of the issues after closing, and relatively quickly too. The warranty process was smooth and Jimmy has taken great care of us since we transitioned. Poor workmanship throughout the house ...

Frustrating but Fun Process Leads to Beautiful Home

The Richmond-built home that we bought is beautiful and we love it. The struggle was all worth it. The lead-up to closing was stressful because RAH has many rules and restrictions in place that are not buyer-friendly, for example: restriction on pre-closing home inspection, restriction on who can be present during the walkthrough, restricted entry prior to closing. The construction crew were always friendly and helped us with pictures as we planned furniture though! The sales team was great at first, but I can't help but correlate their change in attitude with our desire to not use their ...

Mixed Experience: A Review of Our Home Purchase Journey

We recently went through the process of purchasing a home, and while there were certainly positive aspects, there were also some significant challenges that we encountered along the way. Let's start with the positives. Firstly, the front office sales team was exemplary. They were consistently cordial, communicative, and attentive to our needs throughout the process. Their professionalism made navigating the initial stages of the purchase relatively smooth. Secondly, securing a mortgage through the lender was surprisingly easy. We appreciated the efficiency and clarity they provided, ...

Overall my experience with Richmond American has been alright. In the beginning, my sales associate through Richmond Casey was great. He went down step by step through the process and what I would be needed to do and what I should expect throughout this process. He sold me on being very intuitive and putting a personal touch on all aspects of the home buying process and he'd be there will us every step of the way. Turns out 2 months before closing, Casey just ghosted us basically and left my wife and I to practically fend for ourselves. He should probably change his sales pitch. For all of ...

paint splatter all over the new vinyl floor. garage was used to mix paint without using a drop cloth. i assumed when they turned over the house the garage floor would be cleaned. it was left a mess. 90% of the garage floor covered in paint splatter. customers shouldnt have to point out the obvious mess. workers take no pride in caring for the new home. noticed scratches on counter tops from tools. cabinet drawers misaligned. The electrician on the other hand took pride in his work. noticed all wall outlet screws were all aligned. small things do get noticed.

Our sales person, Dionne was helpful and responsive. Our designer Lisa was great and addressed our issues. Our Super, Mike, awful! Doesn’t know how to talk to customers, was rude and not helpful at all. Lots of issues between construction. Oswaldo from home warranty has been great to work with, but overall the house has a lot of issues that are being addressed and fixed. Just taking a lot of time to get completed.

There were a few things that needed to be fixed. We called but we're not getting anywhere, but finally got someone to respond and they apologized and things went forward. They were very responsive after that . Most of our issues have now been addressed. The home itself is nice and we are happy with it.

I love the openness of the floor in lan I picked. The door knobs will all have to be replaced in the next couple of years because they are probably the cheapest and lowest quality on the market. The sliding glass doors are cheaply made, the front door was installed incorrectly so air and light all around the frame. The concrete is so cracked in the garage I will always have problems. The yard is going to cost a fortune to make it enjoyable because of the sod and sod layers doing such a horrific job. Never again will I buy a ‘new build’.

Overall experience was fine. Like all other homebuilders the craftsmanship of the subcontractors was lacking and we had to call them out on several things. The contractors who come to fix the problems do a good job though. I think there is a lot of pressure put on the subs to work quickly and so at some point they quit caring. Our house is nice and we love the floorplan but I wouldn't say it was an exceptional value.

The one department RA needs major improvement on is the Loan/Mortgage department. I had a very bad experience with them at the closing of escrow. I wish I knew certain things prior to closing. I left $ on the table because I was told I couldn't get the incentives ( closing cost incentive, loan rate credit ) in its entirety because I would make money off that. So they gave me less of what they initially told me they would give me.

We decided to buy from Richmond American because of the sales agent Jessica. She was great through out the whole process. The lender on the other hand gave us a bad experience. We didn’t feel valued at all and we had to proactively call to get things done ourselves to meet timelines. Calling lender was like pulling teeth and couldn’t get a response where we had to result to calling Jessica to hopefully get us a response. If I did not stay on top of the time lines I honestly think they would forget about us. Lender needs to do better.

Our closing date was changed twice due to missing electrical and gas meter. Moving my family from the far side of the state, made our experience even worse on so many levels. After the final walkthrough and after we moved in, we noticed a few items that still have not been addressed. For example, we have a temporary oven. Still waiting for the one we ordered, in the laundry room the wrong fuse amp was installed. Its supposed to be 20 amp instead of 15, therefore we haven't washed our clothes going 2 weeks! The laundry room cabinet is partially installed, front porch light is not ...

Had a lousy time dealing with the underwriters very lengthy plus the loan process equally, the home came with no ceiling fans or garage door openers or outside garage lighting and needed quite a few touch ups. Block wall had a big gap on corner back yard.and they used flat paint on most of the house except bathrooms

I wanted to wait to write this review, after being in the home for a liitle. Overall experience was good, Erik in the office was great no issues, always took our calls and our questions. Our biggest problem is all of the finish work that was completed or not really completed. Alot of stuff was just touched up quickly so that they could close the house. Our baseboards/trim and walls are probably the worst; uneven and rushed. We still have people coming back to fix things; it just takes so long even though we've paid and we are in our home. We are happy in our home now but the buying experience felt unhonest, we requested a home and radon inspection before closing and felt as we got excuses to avoid getting the inspection done that if any issues arises they would be covered after closing was completed, it’s been over a month and we haven’t received a call or text or any type of follow up for things that need to get fixed in the home after closing.
