everyone was friendly and personable, however the building process was rough. There was poor craftmanship that we had issues with, and the issues were slow to be resolved before closing and now that we closed nothing has been resolved. Some of the craftmanship is questionable quality especially for the price being charged. things like gas leaks, broken doors, dryer vent being installed smashed to the point that it is not possible to hook a dryer up to it. missing lights, gas line being cut too short and instead of cutting a new pipe they just glued on a bunch of couplings to make the short ...

The Craftsmanship of the homes in Timber Crest is worse than any other builder I have ever encountered. I'd take D.R. Horton over the garbage Richmond American had produced. The President of the TN operations is a lifelong salesman with no construction or development experience and it shows. EVERY SINGLE HOME in Timber Crest has issues. Everything from concerning drainage for water runoff in the neighborhood to forgetting to install insulation in homes (yes, forgetting to install insulation!!) has resulted in nightmares for all the residents in our community. Our experience buying our first home has been extremely disappointing. We were thrilled initially and didn’t catch every detail, but since moving in, we’ve faced issues daily. From a curved wall and crooked outlets to holes in the walls and sloppy paint with drops all over the parquet, the quality has been dismal. The laundry machine was also damaged. It’s obvious they rushed to finish the build just to get paid, without attention to quality or care. This has turned what should have been a happy milestone into a constant frustration. We wouldn’t recommend Richmond America to anyone.

To know what I know now I would have made a different choice in purchasing a new home. Quality of materials Craftsmanship Responsiveness to issues Are all the reasons I would have chosen another builder. I do believe the people who work at Richmond (for the most part) want to do the right thing; however, they are hindered by turn over, horrible contractors and bottom of the barrel materials. My experience has been bad from the start. We originally wanted to design our own house but the lot we wanted “wasn’t available yet” so we decided on a pre approved plan. It was also on a corner and the bedroom and larger side of the yard was on the corner side away from the neighbors. We were assured this is the exact layout of the house we were buying and happy with our purchase. Overall, this was a messy process especially for first time home buyers. The amount of documentation we needed to provide and explained at times seemed very excessive. We love the house we purchased and everything about it seems to be built extremely well. 30 days in, the afters sales support is extremely through and helpful as well. But that leaves the mortgage side. They have special breaks for you if you use their mortgage company, which we chose to do. I have extremely excellent credit and easily qualify for the house, but the mortgage company treated me like complete trash. Sales person, not the one we were talking with,made fun of us as we walked out the door after spending a hour going over lot choices, model selection, and down payment. Sales man we worked with lied on several occasions . Financial department wanted us to submit a document that we and they knew was fraudulent at their request. Head of department later said we would have been approved for our loan had we submitted the fraudulent document.
