Experience with the builder and the finance arm of the builder.

Used their low interest rate as leverage to force closure before all things were finished properly, like painting, 220 circuits, hardware fixtures, working water, etc. Company goal appeared to be build fast, at the expense of quality, and close fast. Then deal with the consequences later. Now we're stuck dealing with the consequences and we're not a priority.

First, for future buyers, read reviews on the builder to know what you’re facing. Next and most important is to have an inspection. There was mold in both the attic and crawlspace and now I cannot get signed documents that remediation was done. I plan to have another inspection done at 10 months. Take several people with you who have great attention to detail capabilities before you buy! The workmanship is substandard! I will have to have the eaves sprayed for mold and the whole house repainted in the next 2-3 years. There is some exposed wood visible on the exterior. At a month now, ...

No issues with Selecting the home, Making upgrades, Getting answers to questions from sales staff on site. Their lending team is not efficient. We have bought multiple properties and have never had so many issues with a Lender. The Lender team would continuously request information that was previously requested Over and over again, we went under contract in July 2023 and my file was still incomplete and unorganized in the last days of closing April 2024. We ended up closing late. It was frustrating to go back-and-forth with the Lender assistant continuously advising documents were already ...

GET EVERYTHING DONE BEFORE CLOSING, even punch list items that they promise will get done asap because even these have been an absolute pain in the rear to get taken care of. And you think that's hard, warranty is absolute garbage, you have to get the top manager involved or you won't be getting a response. I wish we had not rushed final closing, and delayed closing like some of our neighbors did, because we are over a month from when we closed and are still waiting for punch list items to be finished. At this point we're about to start opening up complaints in an effort to get ...

Review of Richmond American Homes: A Disappointing Experience

  • Anonymous

I recently purchased a home built by Richmond American Homes, and my overall experience has been far from satisfactory. Here’s a detailed review highlighting the issues I’ve encountered: Subfloors Bowed: The subfloors in my home were noticeably bowed from the beginning. Unfortunately, this issue requires major repair. Walking across uneven surfaces is frustrating, and I worry about the long-term impact on the structure. Cheap Materials: Richmond American Homes seem to have prioritized cost-cutting over quality. The cabinets, doors, trim, paint all appear to be low quality. For the price ...

Non responsive people. After several calls and emails, nobody answers your concerns. The quality of the brand new building is not as good as you think. Very bad customer service. The offered incentive would be gone in some non sense expenses.

So many things didn’t get done before house as sold. Now we have to be home in order to get repairs done that should have happened before we moved in. Sub contractors trying to get away with mistakes and covering them up, and Richmond is not holding them accountable until after we complain about it. Then we have to take time off of work to be home so they can come back and fix it correctly. Mike treated us like we were idiots and refused to listen to us, even though time and time again we were proven correct. I haven’t met a neighbor yet that is happy with Mike or the process, and we have met ...

A tough experience; most homeowners, including myself, have lost $10k-15k in the process due to lack of information and communication from the Sales department. The company experiences delays and doesn't take responsibility for them. The house has many minor issues; the quality is poor, and every room has some inconvenience, for which the builder is slow to address.

Don’t expect your home to built with the same quality as the model homes

The people they hire to build your house do a terrible job, workmanship is horrible. Their models are built to detail and beautiful! Don’t expect your home will be built that way. Everything they give you has some sort of damage, from doors, door frames, floor molding, kitchen sinks, marble countertops, appliances, etc. Sprinklers they put in your yard are not properly done and they basically sit on top of your lawn. My advice run as fast as you can. Cause you’re going to have to spend thousands of dollars fixing stuff.

The home buying experience with Richmond was not a walk-in-the park. We experienced a lot of miscommunications or lack of communication starting from their office agent, to their preferred lenders, to walk throughs, escrow and immediately after move-in. We constantly have to call, text or email and it takes days to receive an answer or a resolution to our concerns.

Went to the model home about 8 months ago. Told the sales person that we wanted the same paint color inside and out to include the stone work like the model home. Elevation F. She said ok. When our home was built it was the complete opposite. Apparently, everything about our house had already been planned by the builder long before it was built. It seems the sales person told us this just to get a sale in my opinion. Since we were deep in the process of buying our home and it would be hard to get our Earnest money back; we begrudgingly decided to take it. The stone workmanship on the ...

My experience was terrible. The workmanship was sub par. The appliances were very low quality. The baseboards and door trim was bottom of the barrel. I have had several issues to get items repaired and all I get is grief. My front landscaping is as cheap as can be. Prior to putting a down payment, your website stated you have a design center that is eager to help, but when I asked about upgrades your team told us they decide our upgrades which were basically none. Would never recommend Richmond American to family or friends based on my poor experience.

The purchasing experience was pleasant and efficient. The salesman, Rick was very helpful guiding me through the process, which went relatively smoothly. The communications between the financial institution, mortgage company and Richmond was seamless. During that initial process of walking through my future home, I requested and Rick promised a master bathroom cabinet, the 3rd automatic garage door opener and the raising of the block wall between my house and the neighbor to the East since I literally have to look directly into their master bedroom. It started from the beginning where the sales rep wasn't sure about how to input our info. We ended up having to do these forms about correct names due to her not entering our driver's license correctly and it went down hill from there. The superintendent got fired and there were a lot of things wrong with the build and still are until the warranty person comes. Guest bathroom is a mess and most of the products used were cheaply made. Overall experience was poor.
