We've had to gradually accept the sad truth that, in this day and age, you can't find anyone who will deliver an acceptable product. The housing industry is no exception. Over many months, we observed the building of our new house, in addition to multiple homes in our neighborhood and others. What we saw was subpar work, done hurriedly by workers who either A) don't know what they're doing or B) simply don't care. They obviously put quantity over quality, and the proof shows in the final result. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain here in detail Richmond's failings ...

I’ve experienced the home buying process 5 other times before working with Richmond. This is by far the worst experience I’ve had from beginning to end and even after buying the house. The Lender could not give me firm or confident answers to my questions. I go the run around many times from the sales person and the construction person in charge while the home was being built in regards to things the home came with and what, how and when it was going to be finished out with. The underwriter and the lender were not on the same page even after I provided the same documentation to them multiple ...

progress on the house was pushed back 2 times and then when it came to the end of the month they pushed us in due to rate locks even though the house was not finished to our liking. We went to 3 separate walk throughs and items on our punch list were not taken care of and a month into living here have still not been taken care of or even discussed when the work would be done. They contract out all the finishing work and this was not up to par by far! Base boards have paint run and over spray all over them. nail holes are still exposed and not covered up. corners of the baseboards are not ...

I'll start by saying this was the worst 1st time home buying experience for me and my wife. I feel completely misled from the get go when looking at the model home. I was told my home would look exactly like the model, when come to find out this was completely untrue. There were upgrades in the model home that cost additional and weren't mentioned to us until after we left a deposit. When we found out we weren't getting certain features we tried to back out and get our deposit back, the sales lady gladly mentioned if you back out, we keep your 11,000 deposit. Now would you feel trapped, who ...

With any new build it’s common advice to be involved in the building process as much as possible. The sales representative was awesome and ensured I had ample walk through given the lead time to closing. In said walk throughs, I listed items that were below the standard or in need of repair months before closing. The week of the final walk through many items had not been resolved and new items came up. The construction team was not aware that my closing was the next morning even though the final walk through and closing had been scheduled and I had come back from out of town. Initially there ...

Chuck was exceptional, professional and very very responsive. If it wasn’t for him I wouldn’t have bought the home. He went above and beyond the call of duty to get things done and address issues that wasn’t even in his job description. Scott has been great in addressing repair/missing item issues. Quite a gentleman and knowledgeable. Your mortgage side is horrible except for Khrista. She was wonderful. The underwriter was totally absurd. Kept asking for information previously submitted. She aggravated me to the point of me calling the deal off and Chuck actually intervened to help. Wrt ...

This has been quite the journey. I tried buying a house with Richmond for nearly ten months. Once I got the approval, they rushed through the process. I was railroaded on almost every front while trying to acquire an independent inspection. My experience with McKenna hasn't been ideal either. When we did my walk through, she tried to make some of the issues I noticed small. She also didn't write down all of the issues I mentioned, so she thought I believed her when she said she had mentioned it to the builder and the builder said it wasn't an issue. There were clear issues. What I didn't ...

Riley at first seems to be an engaged construction super, but it is only superficial. There are so many things wrong with this house, and you soon learn that it's because Riley does not lead by example and hold his workers accountable. Tiled backslash with glazing worn off--rather than use a handful of new tiles, just slap them up on the wall. Plumbing fixtures that aren't quite tight and leak. Mis-wired switches. Scratched windows, with damaged frames and broken locks. Mis-cut trim around most doors. So many things to fix, we filled more than a page prior to closing, and it continued even ...

Our move in was pushed multiple times. We signed early with the promise from Richmond that multiple issues would be fixed after. 2 months after moving in and there’s still things that haven’t been fixed. It is very hard to get ahold of anyone to take care of these issues and having gone through 3 superintendents on a 6 month period seems to cause things to fall through the cracks. The quality of materials is not great considering the cost of the house.

Workmanship has been a major problem. Still dealing with warranty issues. Unable to get anyone out to come fix it. Items in house that no one can give an answer as to what they are or why they are there. Can’t get in touch with anyone to schedule repairs. Electrical and hvac both with big issues. Always, Always have a home inspected prior to purchase. So much wrong with our brand new home before we signed, even more found after close. A 12’ hole had to be dug to fix underground plumbing sewer line belly. We have lived here for 45 days and still have a laundry list of repairs needed. Trades are garbage with zero care for their given trade. We have bad flooring, subfloors, large holes in the walls, exposed copper. Took 45 days post close to get front landscaping. If you have to buy a Richmond home make sure to bring an independent company to do inspection for you. the homes are built with all cheap materials and in a mass production manner. If cheap materials are nicely put together i believe it would be a better experience. There were nails poking on the carpet and Joy & Brandon did not see anything wrong with that. Extremely over prized homes based the quality of home/house delivered. Worst exo\perience ever for me personally.

Buying a home with Richmond American was an extremely interesting experience. Initially they drew me in with a promotional 3.99 interest rate which is as good of an interest rate anyone can get in the current climate. Unfortunately, that is about the only upside to buying a house with them. Everyone associated with Richmond American knew little about how the house was set up and worked. The HVAC was zoned incorrectly from how they sold us the house, the sprinkler system misses multiple spots in the front yard, and the upgraded features were installed incorrectly. We recently purchased a new home and unfortunately our experience has been very disappointing. From the moment we moved in, we encountered multiple issues, from the carpet to the paint and even the appliances. The carpeting was poorly installed. The paint job throughout the house is subpar, doors and trim were painted carelessly, with drips and rough edges everywhere. The installed appliances were either low-quality or not properly tested before handover. We’ve already had multiple issues, including a malfunctioning dishwasher and a fridge with cooling problems. Went to the model home about 8 months ago. Told the sales person that we wanted the same paint color inside and out to include the stone work like the model home. Elevation F. She said ok. When our home was built it was the complete opposite. Apparently, everything about our house had already been planned by the builder long before it was built. It seems the sales person told us this just to get a sale in my opinion. Since we were deep in the process of buying our home and it would be hard to get our Earnest money back; we begrudgingly decided to take it. The stone workmanship on the ...
