Our move in was pushed multiple times. We signed early with the promise from Richmond that multiple issues would be fixed after. 2 months after moving in and there’s still things that haven’t been fixed. It is very hard to get ahold of anyone to take care of these issues and having gone through 3 superintendents on a 6 month period seems to cause things to fall through the cracks. The quality of materials is not great considering the cost of the house.

It was awful...if time could go back I would never purchase this house. I moved a month ago and one thing after another doesn't work. I have been promised multiple times that this will be corrected or that.....never happened. I have uneven ceilings, broken cabinet, uneven flooring, chipped wood in stair rail and hundreds of other things.

Workmanship has been a major problem. Still dealing with warranty issues. Unable to get anyone out to come fix it. Items in house that no one can give an answer as to what they are or why they are there. Can’t get in touch with anyone to schedule repairs. Electrical and hvac both with big issues. Cannot get answer as to who installed certain systems so I can get more info from company since richmond American had no clue who did it.

Because it's my first home, I really expected to have a good experience. But it's been terrible. My house came full of defects. And I have to beg for the warranty to be fixed. There were things I asked someone else to do myself because I gave up.

Always, Always have a home inspected prior to purchase. So much wrong with our brand new home before we signed, even more found after close. A 12’ hole had to be dug to fix underground plumbing sewer line belly. We have lived here for 45 days and still have a laundry list of repairs needed. Trades are garbage with zero care for their given trade. We have bad flooring, subfloors, large holes in the walls, exposed copper. Took 45 days post close to get front landscaping. Landscape company is another nightmare. They have delayed, delayed blaming us as homeowners somehow for their delay and crappy work. Richmond builds as fast as possible and hopes the buyer doesn’t care about safety or fit & finish. Zero oversight of trades from the builder during construction and even less after close. Someone needs to be in the Quality Control mindset on the job site, unfortunately this isn’t the builder for that. The contractor who builds metal hand railing for Richmond walked right into our home like he owned the place after we moved in. He was supposed to replace the hand railing leading into the basement. This contractor has known about the faulty handrail for MONTHS. Of course the builder waits until after we have closed to approve the handrail to be replaced. This initial delay has now turned into a 6 week wait with no updates. We have no clue when our documented list of repairs will be completed. We were told that all neighbors had to share the expense of the back yard fencing. Of course my neighbor wants to avoid us like the plague now that we have paid for the entire fence. I urge anyone reading this to do more research on the builder in the area you are considering. Have your new build inspected!! Do not take possession until your list of repairs have been completed. I can tell you after 45 days we still have no end in sight for the easiest of repairs. Lord help us if something really bad happens to this home. Zero faith in this builder and their hired trades. This is a million dollar house Richmond. Do better! Hire better! Have some freaking oversight of your trades. Have some pride in the homes you build!! ... More

If you have to buy a Richmond home make sure to bring an independent company to do inspection for you. the homes are built with all cheap materials and in a mass production manner. If cheap materials are nicely put together i believe it would be a better experience. There were nails poking on the carpet and Joy & Brandon did not see anything wrong with that. Extremely over prized homes based the quality of home/house delivered. Worst exo\perience ever for me personally.

I would like other home buyers to know that agreeing on the price is a choice but not getting a response to an issue from the builder is breach Thank you for ignoring the review

Workmanship is very poor. Quality of products used throughout are less than desirable. Still waiting on repairs from initial walk through and 10 day inspection. Lack of communication post close. They were great to deal with in the beginning to buy the house. Once closed, it’s been complete opposite

There has been a lot of issues since buying and it seems as alll the nice people during the buying process have now disappeared or just send over a warranty link when I ask them to fix something but conveniently enough it seems like almost nothing is covered under warranty

Buying a home with Richmond American was an extremely interesting experience. Initially they drew me in with a promotional 3.99 interest rate which is as good of an interest rate anyone can get in the current climate. Unfortunately, that is about the only upside to buying a house with them. Everyone associated with Richmond American knew little about how the house was set up and worked. The HVAC was zoned incorrectly from how they sold us the house, the sprinkler system misses multiple spots in the front yard, and the upgraded features were installed incorrectly. The actual process of buying the house was also equally difficult and frustrating, on the day of our closing they had secretly moved our closing date. This compiled with both Richmond American’s in-house lender and their preferred title company accusing each other of engaging in mortgage fraud and breaching their obligations did not sit well with me. Ultimately, this has been one of the most interesting, bizarre, and awful experiences I have had and it happened to be with one of the most important and expensive purchases one could make. We bought a model house that was built in year 2020 and seeing a couple of physical problems and signs of usage, instead of being a brand new home.

We recently purchased a new home and unfortunately our experience has been very disappointing. From the moment we moved in, we encountered multiple issues, from the carpet to the paint and even the appliances. The carpeting was poorly installed. The paint job throughout the house is subpar, doors and trim were painted carelessly, with drips and rough edges everywhere. The installed appliances were either low-quality or not properly tested before handover. We’ve already had multiple issues, including a malfunctioning dishwasher and a fridge with cooling problems. Went to the model home about 8 months ago. Told the sales person that we wanted the same paint color inside and out to include the stone work like the model home. Elevation F. She said ok. When our home was built it was the complete opposite. Apparently, everything about our house had already been planned by the builder long before it was built. It seems the sales person told us this just to get a sale in my opinion. Since we were deep in the process of buying our home and it would be hard to get our Earnest money back; we begrudgingly decided to take it. The stone workmanship on the outside looks very poor and hurried. I told Chris the builder it looked like it was done by elementary kids. My friends who drove by said it looked "poor" at best. Chris said that is the way they do it now and nothing could be done about it. The only person I have meet who seems to have any moral integrity is Corey who works on the warranty. He's about the only one I trust. We have several issues that he is working to get corrected. Also, we thought that a couple weeks prior to having the house being finished; we would be called in to see if we wanted upgrades. That never happened. It is very apparent that the cheapest bathroom and sink fixtures were installed to save money. The reason we picked Richmond American is my wife thought they had a fine reputation. I personally don't and feel that way and I'm sure she has changed her opinion as well. After paying half-a-million dollars; sometimes I lies awake at night sorry I bought this place. Oh well, now that I have satisfied your request for my buying experience, you can file it in a black hole somewhere with others who are dissatisfied as well. One last thing; since ours is the only house that is finished and we see a lot of building going on around us; most of the sub-contractors don't even have a company logo on their vehicles. Buying process was okay, build quality is sub-par. Lack of drainage between houses is keeping in between both side our my house swampy, i havent used my sprinkler system since we moved in in December. Tiles in master bathroom cracking, looks like a 3 year old painted the house, these are just some of the extra issues i have found since our mive in walkthrough. Cant get a response for our 30 day warranty check in to address these issues as well.

The sales and management team were supposed to have all issues resolved before closing date on November 27, 2024 and I am still waiting on them to finish everything!

Richmond American have extremely very low craftsmanship, so if i ever had the chance to bit another home, I would not bother looking at them.

Very disappointed with the construction of our home. Absolutely no quality control during the construction process.

We are mixed in how we feel about our journey with Richmond American Homes. On one hand, the home is beautiful and we are enjoying getting settled in (we started moving in 1 month ago). On the other hand, had we known what we know now - we won't have purchased this home. The model home and the sales agent, Taylor, led us to believe that our new home would have features/details that it doesn't have. These details mattered to us greatly and convinced us to go with this builder. We were and still are deeply disappointed with the numerous features/details that we don't have. Experienced a leak from exterior melted snow water into my basement within 2 days of moving in. BRAND NEW HOME Lack of build quality resulted in water damage to the interior window sill, padding, carpet and baseboards. I am not able to get clarity on where issue is coming from so it can be remediated. Weeks later, I am still working to get it resolved.

Our experience buying our first home has been extremely disappointing. We were thrilled initially and didn’t catch every detail, but since moving in, we’ve faced issues daily. From a curved wall and crooked outlets to holes in the walls and sloppy paint with drops all over the parquet, the quality has been dismal. The laundry machine was also damaged. It’s obvious they rushed to finish the build just to get paid, without attention to quality or care. This has turned what should have been a happy milestone into a constant frustration. We wouldn’t recommend Richmond America to anyone.

My experience was terrible. The workmanship was sub par. The appliances were very low quality. The baseboards and door trim was bottom of the barrel. I have had several issues to get items repaired and all I get is grief. My front landscaping is as cheap as can be. Prior to putting a down payment, your website stated you have a design center that is eager to help, but when I asked about upgrades your team told us they decide our upgrades which were basically none. Would never recommend Richmond American to family or friends based on my poor experience.

Don’t buy a Richmond home!!!!!

Cheap doors, throughout. Materials are marginal in the bathrooms. Design is nice , but is overshadowed By Poor paint quality.

We were so excited, when it comes to the size of the home and location. Salesman Mr. Garrett Luther just awesome to work with. Other than that, build quality can be improved. Covered plumbing underneath the sink should have been caulked to cover them properly. Trim under the island just an eye soring--should not have left the way it was from the start. Run off paint, exhaust tubes for water heater all dirty. Broken gate, water flooding water meter from next door, sprinkler heads left exposed. I wish I could give a higher rating. I hope Richmond can make an improvement from my honest review.

To know what I know now I would have made a different choice in purchasing a new home. Quality of materials Craftsmanship Responsiveness to issues Are all the reasons I would have chosen another builder. I do believe the people who work at Richmond (for the most part) want to do the right thing; however, they are hindered by turn over, horrible contractors and bottom of the barrel materials. This isn’t my first new home purchase from Richmond. Maybe it’s just the community I live in that has these issues. However, I shouldn’t have to overcome turn over and bad contractor issues, that is the responsibility of Richmond and its leadership.
