We’ve had a lot of issues after buying the home. A lot of poor quality work done on the home. Many things not put together well, the upstairs bathroom flooded after a storm because there is an issue with the roof or the pipes and now we’re worried about mold and water damage from every storm before that. We’ve appreciated quick responses to our warentee requests to address these issues. And that we are under warentee, but very disappointed in how poorly the condition of our new home was in.

The sales process was very efficient and pleasant. After moving in we found several issues with the house itself. We made a list and were instructed to communicate with their representative to get these resolved. Almost a month and a half later and all communication is one way - me to them. I don’t even get a thanks for the text I am working on it. Nothing. It is very frustrating.

We had a new sales agent that didn’t know much. We mentioned things to him about the house and they were never shared with the builder. He quit prior to our closing only to our surprise and that was not communicated. Our new home orientation was done with someone that had never been to the house prior. So it was not that helpful. Many items from our blue tape walk through were not addressed prior to final walk through. The same person that did our orientation said he was never back at the property since that day so he didn’t even know what has done prior to final walkthrough. Some of ...

The overall process was good, using their finance company was ok, but got a great rate. The Site Supe is not up to the task of making sure all punch list items are completed before closing, or even addressed in a timely manner after closing. There is a lack of ownership of the issues that remain open but all parties with Richmond American Homes. The house is nice, it is just all the little things that should have been taken care of; paint on the carpet, ships in the walls, pink "paint fix here" marks were missed, miss matched fixtures. All easy to fix, just were not done.

The beginning of the process was very smooth but by the end was a disaster, disappointment. I think the loan processor and the underwriter didn’t use the information they have for weeks prior to the closing with excellency. They was required information, transactions and payoff the day before closing, and also the closing day they was very late on everything. After we finally close I didn’t have the key for my new house and let me in shame in front of my family and friends, specially my wife, to me was a disaster.

I came into the sales office, but my Real Estate Agent had a family emergency, and I went by myself as I didn't want to reschedule. I provided the Richmond American Rep with all his information. When we confirmed that I qualified for the Trade Discount we had to remove my agent (who fortunately was ok with it) from the contract. Despite signing all the Richmond American Finance paperwork identifying this home as a primary residence they would only approve me as an investment. When I asked for the Real Estate Agent to be reinstated on my contract Richmond American Refused. This could ...

The build is so poor no attention to detail at all. So many mistakes it’s crazy this is a model home. The construction workers blast their music all day from early morning to end of day we can’t sleep from them. Wood delivery dropped off at 5:30 am the other day waking up every one in the house. 5:30am the delivery driver is slamming his flatbed up and down to shake the wood off his truck. They come onto our property many times since we moved in. The construction workers park in front of our house literally taking our sidewalk parking and drinking beer and having lunch right outside our yard. ...

I bought the home December of last year. Inspection had minor issues. Afterward, the second walkthrough also had not fixed issues. They asked me to waived inspection because it was a new house. Maybe I should not have agreed. In addition, even though I paid 20%, they didn't go over that I could opt out of paying taxes every month. I also submitted a request to fix more minor issues. It was hard to get the issues resolved.

Overall this has been an exhausting process. There were so many issues wrong with the house. You would think paying over $700K for a home would get you more. Materials are cheap. I will never buy another RA home, and I will not be recommending your homes to anyone looking to purchase.

The view is nice, the house looks nice but the quality of work suck! Would I buy another Richmond home? Not in a million years unless it’s been some miracle they actually took their time to build a quality home and not quantity. They give you a 6 month warranty but it takes them almost the same amount of time to fix the issues. No thanks!

We've had to gradually accept the sad truth that, in this day and age, you can't find anyone who will deliver an acceptable product. The housing industry is no exception. Over many months, we observed the building of our new house, in addition to multiple homes in our neighborhood and others. What we saw was subpar work, done hurriedly by workers who either A) don't know what they're doing or B) simply don't care. They obviously put quantity over quality, and the proof shows in the final result. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain here in detail Richmond's failings ...

I’ve experienced the home buying process 5 other times before working with Richmond. This is by far the worst experience I’ve had from beginning to end and even after buying the house. The Lender could not give me firm or confident answers to my questions. I go the run around many times from the sales person and the construction person in charge while the home was being built in regards to things the home came with and what, how and when it was going to be finished out with. The underwriter and the lender were not on the same page even after I provided the same documentation to them multiple ...

progress on the house was pushed back 2 times and then when it came to the end of the month they pushed us in due to rate locks even though the house was not finished to our liking. We went to 3 separate walk throughs and items on our punch list were not taken care of and a month into living here have still not been taken care of or even discussed when the work would be done. I'll start by saying this was the worst 1st time home buying experience for me and my wife. I feel completely misled from the get go when looking at the model home. With any new build it’s common advice to be involved in the building process as much as possible. The sales representative was awesome and ensured I had ample walk through given the lead time to closing. In said walk throughs, I listed items that were below the standard or in need of repair months before closing. The week of the final walk through many items had not been resolved and new items came up. The construction team was not aware that my closing was the next morning even though the final walk through and closing had been scheduled and I had come back from out of town. Initially there ...

Overall home buying process was not bad at all. However, the quality of house has been very disappointing so far. I have had some sagging floor. And fortunately I could still use the warranty service which Richmond home provides us. However, I am doubting the quality of the framers who work under Richmond home. They lifted up the floor, and this issue has not been solved for a few weeks now. So overall, it is quite disappointing.
