Such a great experience as my first home

The sales process was quick and easy. Overall the sales team was communicative and transparent. There were typical and atypical bumps and bruises along the way, most of which were resolved in an acceptable timeframe. We were forced into closing before the home was ready, leaving us with three pages of open items and a dirty home to move in to. Richmond and our supervisor Rob did work with us to resolve all of the issues after closing, and relatively quickly too. The warranty process was smooth and Jimmy has taken great care of us since we transitioned. Poor workmanship throughout the house but it's not the most expensive builder so you get what you get. Not the supervisor or sales or warranty teams fault that the contractors don't care to do things the way they should be done. We've been at our New Richmond American Home for about 3 months, and we have come across multiple issues before we've moved in and even before we received our keys to our home, someone kicked in the side garage door and stole our Waterless Water Heater, although it was replaced the door still needs to be looked at, because it does not look like it did before. Also touch-up paint at out address was brought to the attention from the start and still has not been done, there were a few items that were repaired when we put in a Warranty Request or when we talked to Sam the Supervisor, but the workers that came in accidently hit the side of the walls and left marks on them, and the Widow guy that came in was great and did some repairs and added in some stoppers, then told me about the outside of the windows and to let Richmond know that there is stucco that is covering the drain holes and they should have someone come out and scrap out the stucco so it does not damage the windows when the weather gets bad. Later I was going to take a bath and turned the water on, and the knobs came off another item that I need to tell Richmond about, my wife was going to take a walk when the weather got better and noticed small puddles of water on our front porch that could be a safety hazard and was going to notify Richmond about those issues, then I started to notice that our walls in the kitchen were painted with 2 different type of paint flat and glossy white paint, I pointed it out to the guys that we did the walk through with, but they stated it was the reflection, after living here for 3 months though shadow reflections did not go away and noticed that in some areas it was painted with flat and glossy paint... The inside of the house is flat white, and I would like to get that taken care of as well. Another thing is that when they put cement on the side of the house, they left a pile of dirt there, what was I going to with a pile of dirt? I thought they would have it removed after they finished, but it is still there, then the trash they left I had to pick up after we moved in doesn't Richmond workers look around and clean up after themselves after they work and pick up their trash? I would of expected better more from Richmond American to do a better job on house they are building and look at things carefully before selling homes that cost over $700.000. Another thing I noticed that appliances they put in are slightly off and the baseboard is missing from under the microwave and oven, I was cleaning up and picked up what I dropped and noted a gap under there, again areas that are not being looked at carefully. My wife and I love the area, but the house should of been put together like the display house... I hope that in the future that Richmond American will be more attentive to what they do when building homes for future and present buyers. ... More

Seems to be a good amount of problems

We had many issues with our new home. The quality of workmanship was substandard and Richmond should better monitor their contractors/emplyees building homes. Major issues like sewer belly, frozen pipes due to poor insulation, failure to exit the dryer venting on roof, poor installation of front door, gas range pipe leak, and other etc were all move in frustrations that were quickly fixed.

The overall experience is very nice. Our sales agent is great, very responsive even out of working hours! Our superintendent is also great, taking care of any issue at the first moment.

The build is so poor no attention to detail at all. So many mistakes it’s crazy this is a model home. The construction workers blast their music all day from early morning to end of day we can’t sleep from them. Wood delivery dropped off at 5:30 am the other day waking up every one in the house. 5:30am the delivery driver is slamming his flatbed up and down to shake the wood off his truck. They come onto our property many times since we moved in. The construction workers park in front of our house literally taking our sidewalk parking and drinking beer and having lunch right outside our yard. You guys have over stretched your employees it’s hard to get a timely response and so many missed appointments I can’t begin to mention. This all takes time out of my life. There’s so much construction debris in and out the house. The hardwood floors are full of paint marks and paint drips. The windows are damaged and paint stuck on them. The concrete outside my house is so bad everyone who comes to my house mentions how bad it is. I’ve had 2 friends get nails in their tires. ... More

Would not recommend using Richmond American for financing.

We love our home. Our Superintendent Saul was very accommodating and always available. Any major or minor issues we had were resolved with Saul’s empathy and timely response. We always felt like he was our greatest advocate and wanted what was best for us and our new home.

Not too happy with certain problems that I have encountered and still dealing with. I would have hoped for a better experience with the final walkthrough and fewer house problems.

Overall great experience. A few issues with the quality of the build, however the home care specialist so far has been very responsive and extremely helpful with our home warranty repairs.

The builders will address things well and are fairly responsive. The sales team is not responsive and will not do much to keep promises.

Still haven't talked to anyone about warranty issues and have been here 2 months

Repairing is very slow responding back is very slow I have things that are still not fixed from the day one that I moved in very dissatisfied. If I could put a zero instead of one star on response to issues I would very unhappy with things not getting completed just the Highlight one had to slide her door issue it took them coming out four times to complete the issue but did not complete the issue they ended up making another issue with poking holes in my screens put in a work order several and still not done I have been there since December very dissatisfied

We had a great experience working with Brian, Doug, Stephen and the whole staff at Richmond Homes. They were attentive, expedient, and professional. They made sure we were highly satisfied with our new home.

I recently purchased a home built by Richmond American Homes, and my overall experience has been far from satisfactory. Here’s a detailed review highlighting the issues I’ve encountered: Subfloors Bowed: The subfloors in my home were noticeably bowed from the beginning. Unfortunately, this issue requires major repair. Walking across uneven surfaces is frustrating, and I worry about the long-term impact on the structure. Cheap Materials: Richmond American Homes seem to have prioritized cost-cutting over quality. The cabinets, doors, trim, paint all appear to be low quality. For the price I paid, I expected better materials that would stand the test of time. Lack of Attention to Detail: The lack of craftsmanship is evident throughout the house. From crooked trim to mismatched paint, it’s clear that the builders didn’t take pride in their work. Even basic finishing touches were overlooked. Nails Coming Through Carpet: Imagine my surprise when I stepped on a nail poking through the carpet on the stairs! Not only is this uncomfortable, but it’s also a safety hazard. Proper installation procedures were clearly ignored. Curved Walls: Some of the interior walls have noticeable curves, which affects the overall aesthetics of the home. Straight walls are a basic expectation, especially in a new build. The lack of precision is disappointing. Nail Pops: I’ve already had several nail pops in the drywall. These unsightly bumps indicate poor construction practices. It’s frustrating to deal with repairs so soon after moving in. Shingles Not Securely Fastened to Roof: During a recent storm, I noticed loose shingles flapping in the wind. Proper installation and secure fastening are critical for a durable roof. Richmond American Homes clearly fell short in this regard. Holes in Siding Patched with Caulking: Instead of addressing siding issues properly, the builders opted for a quick fix—caulking over holes and gaps. This not only looks unprofessional but also raises concerns about water infiltration and insulation. In summary, my experience with Richmond American Homes has been disappointing. I urge potential buyers to hire a professional inspector to thoroughly inspect the workmanship, materials, and attention to detail before committing to a purchase. First time buying a brand new house, I thought I could customize which wasn’t the case. We start the house from scratch and they told us, they already ordered everything, so no changes. However, we love the house despite some requests that they were not able to adjust. We worked with Steven, the saler, he is very knowledgeable and always available whenever we needed him even now. I will recommend Richmond American Homes. Also they have a great APR that you will never found anywhere. That’s the big reason we chose them. Thank you

Low quality material repair work are to hard to get done bathrooms are ridiculously small very very unsatisfied.
