Overall this has been an exhausting process. There were so many issues wrong with the house. You would think paying over $700K for a home would get you more. Materials are cheap. I will never buy another RA home, and I will not be recommending your homes to anyone looking to purchase.

I recently purchased a home from Richmond American Homes (RAH), and while the overall experience had some positive aspects, there were significant issues that need to be addressed. **Quality of Construction**: While the materials used are good, I was disappointed with the craftsmanship. There were noticeable flaws in the finishing touches, indicating a lack of attention to detail. Additionally, throughout the construction process, the workers left the property extremely dirty and even buried trash in the yard, which was unprofessional and frustrating to deal with. **Design and Layout**: ...

I would be willing to give perfect score and advise all to work with Richmond Homes if only my overall experience was better. For the price paid, I would expect better after closing customer service, better home/site engineering with less errors and a company that is willing to make customer happy with little effort. Unfortunately, as a buyer, at this stage, I can not recommend this builder due to after closing findings/issues they are unwilling to help. Sales people are helpful and good but it doesn't help much. I really hope they get better in the future, USA needs good and trustworthy home ...

Substandard product at a premium price.

The construction superintendent does not have any control over the subcontractors resulting in shoddy work and a frustrating purchase process. Finishes and materials are less than mediocre. Responsiveness from the builder is below standard.

A tough experience; most homeowners, including myself, have lost $10k-15k in the process due to lack of information and communication from the Sales department. The company experiences delays and doesn't take responsibility for them. The house has many minor issues; the quality is poor, and every room has some inconvenience, for which the builder is slow to address.

Good experience with sales person and design person. After construction started and during construction, things started to go south. Good materials, but poor workmanship. When I raised concerns about errors, I was being convinced that those were "industry standard." You are paying people to work and should expect them to deliver QUALITY workmanship. A recommendation will be to have a quality control person with good customer service to help!

Horrible experience with these people! Paperwork was constantly being emailed to us for things that had already been done and when we called about it we were told someone else was reviewing it and send it again and again and again!! As for quality of work. Non of my windows are level which makes purchasing window coverings a nightmare. They promise that if there’s problems that you find after move in we should let them know at the 1 month post inspection. That was six weeks ago and when you ask about it no one seems to have an answer as to when it will be done. As far as I’m concerned they’re ...

This was perhaps the worst home buying experience I’ve ever had, and now that I’m in the home getting warranty/crafting items taken care of has been a nightmare. There simply is no communication with Richmond American Homes.

If you enjoy being overpromised, undelivered, completely ignored and overall frustrated for over 6 months straight to only find yourself living in an unfinished, overpriced, cheaply built home… then you’ll LOVE Richmond American Homes. I cannot say enough terrible things about this company, and they have managed to make an experience that should be one of the most exciting and happy experiences for you and your family into a dumpster fire.
Richmond American Homes responded:

Construction Mgr would not answer calls or texts. Would ask where I’d like certain items placed and he had it put where he wanted it to go. Sales person did not know his product and provide a lot of bad info. Failed to provide accurate info. Total disapp.

Don’t believe a word they tell you. Had many issues from sales person all the way up the management ladder. Upper management was not in anyway helpful. This builder does just what they want and don’t care about your needs.

For any new buyer, please make sure every conversation you have had to put it in writing, monitor and follow up. We were given the key of the house, that was not fully ready, filthy and missing items ( mirror, bathroom glass, window glass - FILTHY FLOORS). We had owned three houses, and this by far was the worst transition ever. PM on the community needs to learn how to communicate with owners on status of request.

Horrible Communication, Lack of Quality, Dishonest

I had an extremely disappointing experience working with Richmond Homes. While exploring a new development in Winchester, Virginia to be closer to family, we were initially drawn to Richmond Homes due to a lower discounted interest rate offered through a preferred lender and what seemed like a decent price for the home, along with a $10,000 closing incentive. Despite flying out from California to check out the property, we encountered numerous issues throughout the home, which we flagged with blue tape during our walkthrough. As we progressed towards closing, just two weeks before the ...
