Overall a great experience, great quality and great service.

This Shea process is very well orchestrated but a few years behind in human needs and construction techniques and interior design and lighting opportunities. Most mechanical aspects are good but instant hot water is too far away from the delivery points and runs wasted water. Water lines in attic causing hot water rather than cold in hot weather. In interior design very little flexibility in choices and options along with vendors and time with designer. No options for lighting and wall plug locations. Landscape palette is not appropriate in many areas of varieties not regionally real in the setting. Sales not clear on interior color options and fron/side street frontage and rear yard setbacks for pools and equipment and landscape. Policy on two trees per rear yard is not enforced. Astroturfing or other fake grass should be outlawed as to heat gain and burning feet. Trash enclosure should be mandatory and areas between homes have tree requirements assisting in reflecting heat and producing shade and oxygen. Policy on maintenance of property line block walls and steel picket fencing need to be maintained by the Association. ... More

Everyone involved has been great to work with.

Mike was great to work with and very responsive thru out the entire Sales process. .Debbie in the Design Center was also the same and our only complaint was that the price of upgrades seemed very high and their lack of flexibility in making simple changes ie deleting a medicine cabinet before the house was even framed. The superintendent, Ryan was fantastic and extremely proud of the work that he and the crew did! Lastly Richard in customer service could not be nicer and extremely responsive and professional. A very good team!!

We love our new home, but defenitley were surprised at the items we needed to do when moving in. When designing your home, be aware of upgrades that don't include basic items like towel bars in the bathroom, tile & granite not sealed by builder. We expect some items needing attention, but did not expect to have to do projects the week we arrived.

90% of everything in our new home went well. The tile and closets subs should have done a better job.

Senior Sales agent Tarry is worth her weight in gold as is Field supervisor Armando. If I was still a general contractor, he would be my first hire!

Shea assigns you a person who does your walkthrough and is available for problems that come up. Each week they sent me a picture of the building progress of my home.

Would have like to see better quality windows. The closing experience was not good at all. Overall happy though.

The overall experience was very good. As to quality: the windows offer much worse sound insulation compared to the replacement Windows we put into our other residence; the interior walls are paper thin; they saved a bit of money by not putting any natural light in the master bath and poorly placed the shower door to it is hard to get out. Still, while not perfect it is a lovely home and Shea is a professional machine which builds lots of homes on time.

Poor communication and follow up on repair issues at 1 month check.

Shea homes have a reputation for building a well constructed home and that’s why I chose them over other developers in the area. Great club house with many classes to choose from.

Shea has done an admirable job navigating the current supply chain problems plaguing most industries.

Our brand new fridge did not work, four rooms of our home only had primer on walls and was not painted until two months after we moved in. We had to move all furniture and walk hangings again. Many other issues. Very unhappy with how all of this was taken care of.

Ongoing construction around me is difficult. The construction fence pushing people to walk thru my yard and smashing my plants is distressing. The loud music is annoying. Better design would include a solar tube in the dark master bath, counter garbage disposal button instead of under sink and thin grout lines (instead of 1/2inch white) in the floor. No real designer would put wide white grout in the floor.

Recently I took delivery of a new home build by Shea. The design fit my needs and the home is nicely laid out. After some annoying delays with the city power, I tool delivery in the fall of 2022. On the whole the home turned out well, but there were areas of quality control that got missed or were ignored. I encountered some poor stain work and finishing on the cabinets, damage to appliances, interior and exterior paint and finishing issues and some electrical issues. The repair service is coming along and some items, I feel, will be pushed to the side. I am going to begin with the positives. I am very pleased with the results of our home. I was very pleased with the responsiveness of the construction manager, Ryan. Ryan was also dedicated; however I feel the crew’s were spread too thin with over 30 new builds going at the same time. This resulted in multiple details being overlooked. Our punch list at the time of our walkthrough prior to closing was extensive with more than a dozen items. The most serious items were three separate previously undetected gas leaks. The connection to the swimming pool heater was not connected properly. There was leaking gas from the cooktop burners even when they were turned off. There was also later found a gas leak from the fireplace where a flexible pipe was mistakenly used instead of hardline pipe. The flexible pipe eroded where it was bent. This one was discovered 2 days after we moved in and could have been deadly. I give kudos to Ryan for staying with us at the house for six hours while the problem was repaired and the gas company could return to turn the gas back on and retest for further leaks. It has been over 2 months since we had our closing and we still have 4 unrepaired items from the punch list. These include a cracked window, an area of drywall in garage, garbage disposal dysfunction and an area of grouting. This seems excessive in its delay. I am very disappointed with the landscaping bushes. Other older areas of Shea homes in our development have much more extensive and colorful bushes. Lastly, it is my opinion that Shea’s policy of not providing visual documentation of the building process is outrageous. Shea did a great job of overpromising and under delivering. I’ve asked for 10 to 15 items to be fixed. A couple have been and haven’t heard from anybody in three weeks. Pretty pathetic.

Do not use Shea Mortgage. We dealt with many mess ups and rudeness like they were doing us a favor. No customer service. And no continuity or communication between the sales team, closing team, finance team, customer representative teams. You need to be the project manager for all of them which is surprising given the size of the company.

It was a terrible home-buying experience in every way, from beginning to end and even beyond. More than 2 months after closing, items that needed correcting and were brought up during our final walk-through have still not been corrected.
