Shea Homes-Trilogy Reviews in San Luis Obispo, CA

Shea is a quality builder. Subcontractors are "iffy". Had some major plumbing issues that were resolved. Contractors leaving garbage strewn outside construction sites that happen to be in the middle of our neighborhood. HOA dues to cover all amenities but majority of amenities are closed. ADJUSTMENT TO DUES SHOULD HAVE BEEN OFFERED

Shea handled the current material supply chain problems pretty well and delivered a very nice home to us. We love this area and feel safe here.

Stucco not cured properly on sunny side of house. Lots of cracking in the finish. Integral dark color finish installed. Where patches have been made, the color varies and photographs issues. Color missing in some locations. Stone veneer is sloped. Drywall nail heads are visible with some heads popping through. Tape joints are exposed. Cornerbead flanges are visible. 1/2" wide tiles installed from a 12x24 tile. Instead of recutting a larger tile to fit the space, a sliver was cut to make up the incorrectly cut tile. The sales and design process were excellent. Shellie and Tedi were outstanding, kind, helpful and responsive. Once escrow closed things turned very quickly. We have been in our home for 60 days and punchlist items from prior to close have not yet been addressed. Several appointments with the Shea Team have been missed without a call or email. It took me over two weeks to find a person who would take accountability. Froy was not only NOT helpful but was also rude and disrespectful to my wife. He acted as a roadblock not a facilitator. The sales force was very good and responsive. After we moved in and through the 4 week walk through the response has been very poor. One person has the responsibility and he is overwhelmed. The communication from Shea Homes office where you submit an issues request is non-existent.

Do not trust the sales department

We moved from our previous home in Trilogy to our current house which has more defects and lesser quality materials. There are plenty of signs that speed of building was preferred over attention to detail. We paid more money (> $1M) and ended up with less quality.
