Interior craftsmanship not the greatest. Unfinished areas remained dirty despite repeated attempts to have them cleaned.

The response by Shea Homes to the leak of the dishwasher was horrible. Additionally, the lack of detail to the overall build of the house is unacceptable.

The company and its representatives were available at every turn, whether it be in clarity of financial concerns, delivering on its promises quality upgrade decisions, or communicating clearly throughout the process. Our closing was smooth and easy, and the resulting move-in was not only ahead of schedule, but seamless.

My experience with my new construction home has been disappointing. I have not even been in the home for two months, yet I have already encountered several issues that have caused significant concern. At my one-month warranty walkthrough, the only issue I identified was the bathtub in the secondary bathroom. The tub did not appear to be new and appeared to have been resurfaced. That issue was reported and has been in the warranty process for approximately two months, and it is still not resolved. Since the one-month walkthrough, after actually living in the home, I have discovered additional problems. These include black mold around the toilet in the primary bathroom, broken tile in the primary bathroom, a dishwasher with rust and a door that is coming apart, a light fixture in the secondary bathroom that continues to go out, and a cabinet door in the secondary bathroom with a hinge that is coming off and will need to be replaced. These newer issues were not identified during the initial walkthrough because they became apparent after living in the home. I will now need to submit additional warranty claims for these items. I understand that owning a new home can come with minor adjustments and warranty items. However, I purchased a new construction home with the expectation that the home and its components would be new, properly installed, and thoroughly inspected before closing. Discovering this many issues within the first two months has been frustrating and has made me question the quality-control and final-inspection process. I am sharing this feedback because I hope Shea Homes takes these concerns seriously and improves its quality-control process. I would encourage future buyers to thoroughly inspect every part of the home, document everything, and not assume that something is new or in perfect condition simply because the home is new construction. ... Moving twice was very expensive for me and Shea did not have any houses that they offer for rentals we had to do it privately

Open communication between builder and buyer from start to finish is key. Ensure all levels of departments are on the same page. Know what is occurring and what planned. My foreman was excellent. Knew what needed to be done, had great knowledge, experience and recommendations. A few items have been addressed and fixed. My warranty specialist is fantastic. Will see how things play during first year of warranty.

Our experience has been very good. From having Troy as our Project Manager to Laura who is our warranty representative- they both have and are doing a stellar job. Our private inspector we hired to check the home before we closed was so impressed with the workmanship of the home. Said it was one of the best ever in his 15 years of experience. We are very pleased with the workmanship and any issues we might have had Laura took care of us promptly. We love living here.

The entire Shea team experience, beginning with the sales team through closing and into customer service, was highly professional, friendly and a rewarding experience.

I am giving Shae a 5 star review because they have been on top of everything from pre home delivery to completing 1 month check in with a few more phased out over the year. We are very happy with the home & Art our warranty guy who helped with everything post close.

This house is beautiful and well made. Any concerns we've had have been resolved swiftly and efficiently. I trust that this builder has built a quality home that will last.

lights flicker. bathroom fans don't work, some walls have thin 1/4 " drywall. skimping on construction. not good

All Shea associates were great to work with! Sales, Design and Construction were all very professional and were fantastic to work with every step of the way. We are very happy with our home!

I'm very happy with my home; however, one suggestion: prior to moving in, I was given a list of the utility (gas, electric, cable etc) companies to contact, which I did. This list needs to be updated to include the ***** company. After living here a couple of months, I noticed a QR code on my solar box. I scanned it and it told me how to contact the solar company to get my service ACTIVATED. I contacted the ***** company, *****, and they said that Shea had not made my address available. I contacted my Shea rep and he told me that Shea was now working with Cooper and gave me Cooper's number. I contacted Cooper and they got my service activated. Having to do this legwork was not obvious to me (and don't tell me to read thru 4 inches of manuals to find it). Our sales manager, project manager, design manager and warranty manager are top notch. They've kept us well informed throughout the process, and we end up with exactly what we wanted and needed.

This was our first experience with an over 55 community. The process was a bit confusing at first, as we were in early and trying to make a decision and a purchase before the ***** was officially approved or models were available to see, and the contract incorporated documents that didn't exist. This has all since been straightened out. Everything regarding the construction and follow up, and really everything involving staff from Shea and its Blue Star partner have been great. We love our home and appreciate the quality of the construction very much. The ***** contractor staff have not been as helpful and responsive (or even friendly) as expected, but hopefully that will get better over time. ... More

Love my house and the quality of the structure is excellent! Some of the finish work needs attention but I am working through it with my warranty specialist. The sod used in the yard is very disappointing and needs attention.

We were very happy with our sales associate, Natalia. She made the whole process very easy for us. One of the reasons I gave my home buying experience Four stars is because there was only one lot that was an option to buy. In a sea of home lots, we were wound down to one lot because they wanted to build the houses on our street in succession. However, we did fall in love with ***** area and that is what swayed us to just settle for what they had available. The construction was very fast and efficient! My only complaint was having access to my house while it was under construction. We came out two times to walk the house during construction, with notice to the superintendent, who said "fine no problem". Both times, we were given the bum-rush to hurry and get out. We had out hardhats on, but we had exactly 10 minutes the first time. The second time we were given permission after drywall to meet with our closet contractor, so they could measure the space. After about 15 minutes, we were told "you need to hurry up and leave". I said I was given permission, but the superintendent didn't care and said we had to get out. When I blew him off, he just paced the floor and looked like he was not happy with me. That's the other reason I lowered my homebuying experience. Since moving in, we are very happy with our decision to move to *****. We have the best neighbors and new friends that we were hoping for. ... More

Overall, we love it here. Our experience was not perfect, however. To begin with, I was sold a corner lot based on the size of the lot AND the ***** of the hills. After I made an offer on my home and it was in escrow, my next door neighbors put in a gazego and arbor, basically blocking our lovely ***** of the hills. The ***** approved everything for them before we came along. We like these neighbors and they even decreased the approved height of the gazebo and moved the kitchen at their expense. However, since our experience, we have seen other similar intrusions permitted by the *****. Second, when we moved in on April 1 we had electrical issues in the kitchen, and our refrigerator did not ever work (it never got cold) for 3 weeks. We had a refrigerator repair tech out here 3 times unitl the 4th tech finally diagnosed the problem and the refrigerator as unrepairable. In the interim, we were given a small refrigerator that we kept in the garage until finally I'd had enough waiting for KitchenAid to bring us a new refrig and insisted Shea replace it with a new one, which they did. Bottom line, it had never been checked to verify it actually worked before we moved in. Third, the electrical problems in the kitchen required 3 trips here by the electrical contractor until a knowledgeable employee discovered the issues and fixed the problems. Since these experiences, we have moved on and really appreciate and love living here in a Shea community. ... More

I really love living here on the ranch but wish I had spent a little more time here prior to our commitment on the house.

By default, they used high quality build practices, like spray foam insulation. Our sales representative was very responsive to questions we had and good to work with. The building manager was incredibly kind and patient and kept us looped in to everything going on with the home. He made us feel extremely comfortable with an unfamiliar process.
