We love the community. Throughout the building process the communication could have been improved. As an example, we were given a closing date and then two days before the close were told it was not going to happen. Despite the fact that the Shea representative knew we were in a rental and had given notice. One issue that may contribute to communication issues is the staff turnover seems very high. Additionally while some of the subcontractors did stellar work others are not as diligent. At the end we are happy with our home despite some repair issues that are under way

Overall, experience was pretty good.

Overall decent for the price but 2 major issues. - The walls thickness are probably at minimum allowed by the state law, according to another Builder that I have asked. Apparently some builders are trying to save money on materials so they cut back on building homes the proper way. The sound travels easily through the Walls, I mean literally any sound. I could be in the master bedroom brushing my teeth and someone in the kitchen can hear my electric toothbrush!!I can even hear my Neighbors talking at night from inside their house. No, they’re not being loud typical conversation, cuz I can literally tell. - They claim their homes are energy efficient and windows are sealed pretty tight. Definitely neither are true. Yes they have led lights for all their light bulbs, but that’s about it. If I can smell my neighbors bbq with my windows and doors closed that’s not air tight nor energy efficient. ... More

The Shea team was great. I felt the communicated throughout the process and I always knew what was happening with the construction of my home. Everyone was extremely friendly and knowledgeable. it was an easy, stress-free and enjoyable experience. Love the quality and workmanship of my home.

We love our house & lot.

This is our second Shea home. We have built custom homes for ourselves in the past, but nothing beats the quality and workmanship of a Shea home. I also really appreciate how fast all the superintendents have responded to questions and concerns. They were simply great! Shea is the best!

Good value for the dollar.

From the time I purchased the home to the time I moved in, every time I wanted to see the progress of the build, Alan found a few minutes to walk me through the house, and explained what was going on and what the time table was. He was busy and did not have to be so kind.

Shea seems to build a very good home, but time will tell. One of the challenging issues for some of us has been we were told during the sales process that we would have 12 opportunities each to play the golf course a year, and you can't get a straight answer out of the Golf Course or the Verde River Management team. They all just say it will be determined in the future?

The open communication with all the team members made it easy for us to have our questions answered. They anticipated our concerns and made sure our needs were met. Everyone was professional and compassionate which was especially helpful during Covid. Thanks Shea

The fallow up after move in with Annie our customer field rep was excellent on issues that needed to be corrected. The one thing that wasn't a good experience was with TLB landscaping not doing what they said they would do, and getting them to agree they were wrong and coming back to correct was like pulling teeth, and we are still waiting on a correction 3 months later. If I was to do over again I would use a different landscaping co TLB was tied in with Shea homes, we were unable to use anyone else if we wanted to put into the mortgage. They also are over priced and poor customer service.

From day one we were kept up to date on the build. Our design center appointment was fantastic and the representative really helped us with out interior selections. Love our cabinets, floors and all appointments. We couldn't have done it this well without her help. Our delivery with Joe was great, very few items that were fixed immediately and were done when we took possession. Two minor items we found after move in were addressed at the one month review. Michael was our construction supervisor and he kept us updated along the way. Did a great job. Over the years have purchased 8 new homes, this is the best one yet! ... More

The concern I had was with the disclosure or lack thereof regarding the surround sound system for the house. We had it installed by the builders subcontractor Adobe, but were never advised that they did not hook the speakers up to the owners receivers and equipment as part of the process. This should have been disclosed by Adobe and/or Shea as part of the build process.

We got off to a rough start with Shea. We selected the Latigo model at original document signing, only to find out 4 weeks afterward that Shea did not include cabinets in the Casita nor would Shea install cabinetry in the Casita. No one ever said a word about this, not our sales rep or any of the staff in the model home. And the models had no signage indicating such. We felt that was very misleading. When I tried to reason with Melissa T. about this issue, she gave me a car purchasing analogy that I found a bit insulting considering the amount of money we were spending. When Shea started the build, the foundation was put in the wrong place and our friends noticed the placement and contacted us. Fortunately, I had the correct plot plan and was able to get it to Abbey and Shea before the concrete was poured. This delayed our build 6 weeks and there was no apology, no compensation, nothing from Shea except an "Oops". Strike 2. That was souring. Working with the designers was unusual since we had to make all the aesthetic selections on line due to the quarantine, but we were able to finish. Angela was excellent. Shea built our home with all the correct selections. We will have to see how it fares living in it. I have already noticed some sloppy craftsmanship around the window installs. Large gaps between the stucco were filled in with caulking. Definitely not fine home building there. I will address this on our 6 month walk through (or whatever the month walk through coming up). This is my second time with Shea and again, the whole process was a great experience as before. Their house is really in great quality and the customer service is so good. Our dedicated customer service rep is very helpful and responsive. Overall, a trustworthy builder.

Good company for first time home.

I could not have asked for a more smooth and better experience from start to finish. I kept waiting for something to go wrong, but nothing ever did! I would highly recommend Shea Homes to anyone.

Being a first time home buyer I didn’t know what to expect, there are so many steps and things needed it can be overwhelming at times. Shea Holmes and my Relator guided me through the whole process. Building the home was supper fast! Started the process in October moved in in March! Half the home (bones) was already built when we started in oct so it just needed to be customized. During the appointment to customize your home I would highly recommend writing down the names of the tiles and paint colors you pick out as I did not and was given the wrong kitchen backsplash. Since I signed off on the paperwork assuming i had trust that my choices were correct nothing had pictures of the tiles just names when I signed and I couldn’t change it once it was done now I’ll have to pay for it to be redone. Going through the process, from start to finish, with Shea Homes was extremely simple for us as first time homebuyers. They did a great job of keeping us updated along the way so we knew what to expect and when.

The quality control and attention to detail was very poor on our new home. The entire house has flaws and sloppy work through and we were very disappointed with the quality of labor that was put into the finishes. We paid extra for two tone paint and could have had a far better job done elsewhere, paint is sloppy and not even through the entire house and now we are stuck with a subpar job that we paid thousands for and extremely unhappy with the paint and baseboards. They really let us down with all of the finish work and is not what we would have expected when spending this type of money on a new build. We are also very concerned and upset that are lot has no full dirt and is solid rock. We are unable to plant any live trees, bushes, grass, or plants because there is no dirt and just solid rock that is exposed in the backyard. I am having to spend tens of thousands of dollars to hire excavation teams to come in and jackhammer the back yard to level it to have any landscape done and to finish the yard which is beyond frustrating and not ok. Alison with quality control has been out several times now and great but we are really hoping that Shea homes steps in and makes this right. We are very disappointed with the build and the lot. ...
