To sum this up: the field people are terrible at quality control! Going back and forth 3-5 times for the same issue is poor management.

Hard to communicate with builder ….only text messages his phone mailbox always full. I understand delays but communication important! He was better toward end of construction _ mind you a year and half! I had one month appointment and still two issues not resolved? I’ve called twice - no call back? It’s been a month - I’ll have these two issues on the 5 month appointment- a few other things are needing attention as well! I get new homes always have issues - usually simple but would be nice for at least a call back.

It started out great and then was just average overall. I would most likely not purchase through Shea if I were to do it all over again.

Stay on top of each phase with the length of time it takes now to build a home and the number of homes each building director has to oversee!

Shea Homes built a beautiful home and we are very happy with overall appearance and design. There were minor things that needed to be fixed upon closing but they have or are in the process of being addressed. Everyone has been very friendly throughout the whole process.

My after action review will be forthcoming as there are many facets in grading this experience. Major issue is that it took way too long to complete construction from out Aug 2021 purchase date (we moved in May 2023) and that Shea did not accept that we were not available the last 2 weeks of Apr 2023 per my Jan 6, 2023 telcon with project mgr #2…always a moving completion date. Finally, when inspected after completion, it was not cleaned per Shea model…it was a rush job to get to close escrow date. Disappointing.

Our homebuilding experience was great! They kept us informed and was very prompt with any responses to our concerns! The quality of craftsmanship of the build is hands down the best we have ever experienced! The attention to detail and quality of work is top tier! I would build 3 more homes with Shea!

We had a great experience with our builder and the home buying process with Shea was so slick and smooth. They are responsive, attentive and their team will come out to help in any way, shape or form. In our house delivery day, we had the warranty team, and the builders with us, it was an experience like no other.

The home is great. But but you really want to make Trilogy exceptional add more amenities. Restaurants, pools (only a 4lane 4ft deep pool), activities. A community of 1,500 homes in a small town needs to be inclusive. Without the Amenities needed you will never meet your potential. It can't be all about more homes. It has to be about Lifestyle. The clientele you deal with has many options and the ability to afford it.

Need to be more responsive and follow up doing/completing what is supposed to be done

Shea did not meet our expectations at all due to so many open issues. They close our house in April of this year and mostly cabinets are having issues. Supervisor from cabinet company was surprised that how come they gave you keys with so much unfinished work. Baseboards in the house are installed so badly. I am not sure how shea builder can deliver such bad quality work for an expensive house? After closing the house priority of unfinished is not treated properly. so much frustration.

Over all my experience was pretty good. The home looks very nice, and most everything is in place. Some expected issues with a new construction are fine, but there are some more than I would have expected for the price paid, and some of the issues I pointed out were ignored, denied, or called normal when they should have been taken care of. Otherwise, quick to respond and set up trade calls, but it often takes a long time to get the trades to show up.

We closed and moved into our new home in April and have been pleased with the warranty follow up, general quality of the workmanship and the responsiveness of the entire sales and service team at Shea homes in Wickenburg.

Issues after delivery take too long to get resolved. We have 2 broken windows that were supposedly ordered before the house was finished. Been in house now 2 months, still have broken windows. Other issues same problem. Not responsive at all.

Staff was very friendly, but sometimes did not come through with requests. East to contact but not always responsive. If I needed an immediate response I had to go through my sales person even though I was told by project manage I could contact him.

Overall a great experience. The team was generally responsive and accommodating. One of the trades cost us an additional $2K because of a lack of communication, but that's a trade, not Shea directly. If we were to build another home from scratch again, I would use Shea as we feel the build quality and materials used are very good.

Buying was the east part, getting things fixed has been challenging. Both due to availability and half baked solutions, appointments are rescheduled without any communication, contractors refusing to fix things and blaming the issue on another team (plumber refusing to fix water pressure and passes blame to appliance installer when the issue is the water pressure from the wall, at another appointment scheduled for two window issues and contractor refused to fix one issue saying one window would be fixed by another team from the same company only to come back with the same team at another time to fix it). Some appointments are scheduled months out, haven’t been able to use the oven since purchasing the home 2 months ago for example. Had an issue with a door frame being crooked so they adjusted the door but the frame is still crooked to the naked eye. Definitely would’ve reconsidered a new build or the builder if I had known how difficult the warranty process would be. ... More

First, I would like to focus on the positive aspects of our experience. There are three people who have contributed to making this experience a success. They are Ryan, Kara and Lala. Each has contributed in their own way to help promote a collaborative effort to realize the completion of our home. Our first contact with Shea was Kara. From the start, she was professional, personable and had a great sense of humor. She was tolerant of our many questions, requests and complaints. Her graceful approach helped smooth things out that led to the creation of our home and hopefully a continued relationship. Ryan was with us the most. His generosity and gentle demeanor walked us through the different stages of the building process. He was challenged on many occasions by some of the vendors and then had to work with us to explain why things were not going as planned. There were challenging times, but he stuck with us, much to his credit. Lastly, LaLa has provided us with the follow up of warranty work, questions on how things work or don’t and kindness and humor when dealing with vendors who don’t show up for a service call. LaLa, like Ryan, goes above and beyond to provide us with the information and help we have needed to get this house off to a good start. On more than one occasion, she has made time for us outside of her schedule to help us. She is always positive and a delight to be with. There were a few issues that I would like to bring to your attention. During our buying and building experience, design changes were made but not communicated to us until after the fact. This required time and effort to develop a new design plan and to resolve ourselves that what we thought we could have was not possible. The other change that I would request is that you give your team the authority to make decisions based on their expertise and experience. For example, we have a scratch in one of our windows. An appointment was made for the vendor to address this. We waited an entire day for this gentleman to come out and say “Yes, it’s scratched and should be replaced “. This is a huge waste of our time to sit at home the entire day only to have the vendor confirm what Lala had already determined as a defect. It would save time and money and frustration for your homeowners not to have to go through an inefficient process such as this. Without the help, kindness and support of Kara, Ryan and Lala I would not have bought or continued with building this home. ... More

Closed on our home 2 months ago, was about 1 full year since groundbreaking started. Process was generally smooth, issues with sub-contractors, design team, timing. We had an issue with missing carpet from the design center, was known since pre-drywall and was not resolved till 3-weeks before closing. Communication between sales/construction/design seems non-existent. Any issues we've had, have been addressed. We had an independent inspection done, sloppy work with drywall and stucco. Asked to repair and they will say that's the way it's done. I would say Shea is above average. Have heard many worse stories from other builders. ... More

The experience we had was what I'd call, "just ok". In todays world and economy, striving for "Raving Fans" is critical (google the book RF). It was clear, it's about the money and the customer is simply granted lip service. I don't need to revisit things like construction delays, we all know about those. However, getting the home closed so the money can be put in the bank is way too aggressive and simply a poor way to do business. There were "promises" made and not kept. Thats why people use the term, I was lied to. Sorry, that's just fact. Your VP (Brian) did not like it at all when I used that term. I should have stuck to my guns in that conversation and emphasize my point better. I was lied to on one occasion. It was a big lie and it cost ME money as a result. As well, it's just bad business to complete something like a home which is a big investment for the home buyer, just to have to correct a large list of things after the fact. Clearly 2 different profit and loss centers. As for the good? We worked with a few wonderful people who we believe did their best. Ok, no last names but Deanna, Scott and Richard were wonderful. Hopefully Shea recognizes them as helpful in what were some significant, problematic situation. As for me, I'm going to be all in on this project to the tune of around $1.05M. Great care and responsiveness to questions

Our overall experience with Shea was very positive! Matt our sales person is a tremendous asset to Shea! We had a wonderful experience with our field supervisor, Jason. AND would build an home with Jason again, should the opportunity present itself!! Our warranty specialist, Lala has been tremendous to work with also. The biggest issues we had was during our design center consultation and issues that arose from that process. Outlets were added when they were not needed for low voltage, tile flooring was not ordered to finish the covered patio space to match the home, bathroom faucets choice was not made originally and our back patio was lowered prior to build to allow for thicker stone when we already had decided to use porcelain tile with the landscaper. I will say that the process at the time was pretty smooth…just did not understand what it meant when our designer was new to Verde River, but not to Shea. Turnover happens and most of our issues have a positive side to them as well. Overall, A+ and we want to thank everyone to make this long distance build possible without many headaches at all!! ... Shea Homes purchased a superior parcel at The Phoenician and the subdivision design is spectacular! I wish I could continue with positive praise but I can’t. The lack of integrity from day 1, the poor quality of workmanship, and the ongoing lack of transparency is just the beginning. Building a home should be a happy time, but Shea Homes destroyed that dream.

The Trilogy community is great although Shea was not transparent about the community restaurant and Spa being open to the public. Unfortunately the public depletes availability of these amenities for the members that pay for them. The standard finishes are very outdated which means you have to pay for tons of upgrades just to get finishes that don’t come from the 90’s. When you purchase a home you will have to put in about 30% of the purchase price in upgrades to get to current acceptable finishes. Love the community. Need more people in their 50’s so we have more ACTIVE adults.
