Overall, it's been a terrific experience contracting with Shea for our new home in North Scottsdale. New to AZ from the East Coast, the Shea team made the process relatively simple, efficient and comprehensive, with great communication and caring teams. The Sales team of Lynda and Paula made our transition easy to understand and complete. The construction supervisors, Todd and Kory, are absolutely terrific. Their communication and attention to detail made it unnecessary to visit the house during construction, using Teams and FaceTime to view progress and make decisions. The final hand-over of the house and subsequent follow up has been well-handled and efficient. Shea did very well ! My only suggestion to Shea is to include more "upgrades" as standard or provide an allowance for items that most everyone will want and ultimately order. However, the vendors and design team of Shea was incredible to work with and made the selection process smooth and efficient. All choices were included in our home as ordered. House was not delivered even close to on time. Workmanship was average. Lots of small details not dealt with.

We love the community and people here at Shea Ranch. The quality of of home builder was not to our expectations. We felt nickel and dimed with upgrades which are not that impressive. It’s been 2 months since we closed on the house and still no upgraded stove top. Our three slider door is poorly made and not to Shea quality. Gutters should be included in house price. Why isn’t it??? It’s been a very dissatisfying journey with Shea home builder considering they are such a well known trusted builder. Sincerely Diana

The home buying experience was overall good, but felt rushed before closing due to our agent being moved to another project a few weeks before closing. We were not able to work on a few changes and we were told it was not allowed. Our agent was excellent to work with but pulled off for another project before our close. In addition, the sub contractors that need to fix problems after the 1 month walk through are not very reliable, especially with window replacements, and other documented areas of the house.

The build took so long. We were one of the first to buy yet other houses were started and completed before ours. For some reason we had to pick everything up front within a week of signing and earnest. Then Shea didnt do anything for almost 3 months. Even then it was mostly foundational. We could have taken more time and not felt so rushed. The trades did an okay job but not great. I would've expected more consistency and quicker turnaroundwhen we brought things to Shea's. The attention to detail is where each of the trades lacks. Shea should have caught the things we found. I think the price I paid is not what the house is worth having seen and lived in the quality that the trades Shea uses. It's very clear the trades used for the model homes are not the same ones used for the community. Grouting, caulking, squaring of floors and walls, paint finishes, stucco, roofing. Lots of help from Donnie, Andrew, and Adam. Great to work with. It took a lot longer than we thought, but now that we have moved in we are very happy with the house and the community.

MY SALESPERSON, CONSTRUCTION MANAGER AND WARRANTIES MANAGER ARE TOP NOTCHED, EXPERIENCED, PROFESSIONALS WITH WHOM I ENJOYED WORKING VERY MUCH. I got very, very lucky having Matt, Eric R. and Lala assigned to my lot. Each one responded to my questions and concerns quickly and thoroughly. Shea's quality control processes are awesome.

All Shea employees are great to work with

I have built four homes with three different builders. My first home was with a very low end builder and was a much better experience than this. Working with Shea Homes has been by far the worst building experience I have ever had when building a home. I have had a real estate investment company for over 15 years. I have renovated sixplexes , triplexes, townhouses, and condos. Therefore, this is not my first rodeo however, it has been the worst rodeo I have ever had. The team were professinal.

We have been a months after our close, never should have closed, to address many defects noted in the pre-close walk through. Ordered and paid for specific appliances (paid for options) that we did not get, they substituted inferior appliances and so far have refused to replace them. Trades show up and have no idea what they are repairing.

We have several safety issues that Shea doesn’t appear to care about We went over these issues with our warranty specialist a month ago We no longer get responses from any representatives We have major gaps in our $17k sliders that rattlesnakes and scorpions can easily access We now have spider infestation due to this unresolved issue Furthermore we have uneven tiles that we have tripped over multiple times These are just two major issues whereas there are many more that Shea has ignored The quality of the home is not near the exaggeration we were given by the sales office Worst customer service possible for such an enormous company ... The Shea team is the best in the industry

The sales representative was transparent, knowledgeable and most professional. From the beginning of the process to the end, the experience was indeed a pleasure.

Field manager was outstanding! Plumber utilized was average at best! It is deceiving to see a model home nicely decorated and not having same or similar options when building a new house( very disappointing no alternatives were available). Very pretty house and development!

The process from start to finish was smooth I LOVE our new home !

Design center and landscaping were truly both lacking!

Been here 3 months and Shea has not resolved my issue.

Terrible lot. Since all I saw were dirt lots when I purchased, I didn't know that the air conditioning units would be placed right outside my bedroom window! Both my neighbors and mine are there. On the other side, my neighbor's unit is right in front of my living room. Houses are squeezed together. I'm still waiting for them to put the cabinet door on. It's been sitting here for 3 months. I had to have the electrician out 3 times to correct things. Bathroom was mis-wired and the Ring doorbell has been serviced twice. Doesn't seem like sturdy construction. I though Shea was a good builder but I guess things have changed. Would not recommend a Shea home. ... More

Things really happened slowly, without much help.

Unfortunately it took 19 months for home to be completed for a variety of reasons some avoidable and some unavoidable delays. The field personnel at Shea are customer focused, knowledgeable , and competent. Sales staff not so great. Completed home is actually very high quality.

This is a quality builder. Good sales person.

We were delayed over and over. The house sat completely still at frame for 5 1/2 months waited for HVAC. It took ONE day to do the HVAC when they finally showed up. 21 month build time. Then closed the house with items not completed. Every neighbor we have talked to had items not completed when they closed. Not a quality home. This is our third new build and by far the worst one. We are very disappointed.
