Our home was built during covid when there was a shortage of construction workers, etc. Very sloppy paint job, carpet job, and quality is very poor. This is our second Shea home. First one out of state no issues. Our warranty care person in this particular community is not very responsive with following up and fixing the issues. Very bad experience with this particular home. Three months into our brand new home we had a master bathroom leak. Shea had to demolition the the whole master bathroom. Leaked into our neighbors ceiling below. Shea refuses to pay for full carpet cleaning that their contractors destroyed and stained. Just awful!!!! ... More

There have been some issues with workmanship and materials but most of these have been taken care of in a reasonable time period. The homeowners association follow through, however, has been extremely poor and we are somewhat concerned about that going forward.

Good buying experience but experiencing consistent issues and a long turn around on service request

Building a new home during a Pandemic has proved challenging as many materials have been a challenge to source. Many shortages which resulted in delays and possibly affected the quality of workmanship and materials resulting in some re-work. Overall, we are happy with our new home.

This is our second Shea home. We love our new house and everything about it, except for the solar system which has been a nightmare since day one. We have been in our home for 10 weeks and are still battling with the solar company to get our system running properly. I have even reached out to Shea for their hope. Truly frustrating.

I think overall builder is good

This has been a frustrating experience with the builder and HOA. My master bathroom marble countertop is flawed. It was not sealed and water spots have marred the countertop. Moved in May 2021 and still waiting for this issue to be resolved by builder. Keep getting excuse of that this particular marble company is short on staff. However, the new home still up for sale, they were able to install an upgraded marble countertop in the master bathroom. Very disappointed in builder and HOA. I thought Toll Brothers was inferior. They are a cut above Shea. Rethink Shea Homes - please. You will put more money into your home once you move-in. Also, beware of ANTS. This is there territory and you they will be in your new home. The initial home-buying process went smoothly, although it took the company a long time to finish building my home. Now that I'm in it, I see issues with some of the workmanship, mostly with what appears to have been touch-up work to finish the job. Some of the painting, cabinetry, and other installations were done very sloppily, as if the workers rushed to finish and get out of here. Dealing with these and other issues with Shea's Customer Service also hasn't been the best experience. The representative I've been working with to fix problems doesn't communicate well at all, and she gets things wrong or forgets things all the time. When I've pointed them out to her, she's gotten rude, defensive, and even accusatory, as if these problems or misunderstandings are my fault. She just doesn't seem to care about my convenience or overall satisfaction. She makes decisions based on what seems satisfactory to her or what she thinks I should just accept, instead of asking me about what I want, including when repair technicians are scheduled. She doesn't apologize for mistakes and miscommunications, and gets upset if I don't just accept her decisions and treatment, to the point where she won't even respond to me. the seller is good

I feel like you were very anxious to pay off my realtor and get her out of the picture leaving me do negotiate with a large corporation without any real representation. Seemed like your attitude was pretty much - "well, we have six units left - take it or leave it." In other words not much accomodation. It's a little early to decide what kind of value we got. Some aspects of our new home I truly love. Others, well, seems like you cheaped out or the at least the jury is still out.

Builder made my lending from builder quite easy and painless.

Sales office and Shea home mortgage personnel are very responsive for questions. The design and layout of the house is very modern. Love the house fill with lights.

I’ve lived in four new builder homes and Shea’s quality and experience has been the best! The construction, customer care and finance team have been very professional! We owe a special thanks to Tracy for her support through the tough pandemic period!

Shea allows a home buyer to work with the teams to answer questions and address issues.

My home buying experience with Shea was great.

We have had a brake down with first review issues being completed.I have to mention outside paint job was not close to your standards.

The pool at Shea Barcelona is too small. If it were 8-10 feet longer and maybe 1/2 foot deeper, it could be adequate. It must be the smallest pool in Calif. Security must be improved! Please finish those gates. Leave them open during daytime construction, but we do not feel as secure as we would like at night. Having raised these issues, you have nevertheless built a wonderful community and we very much look forward to spending our golden years there.

My house was move in ready and could not have added another upgrade to make it perfect. Love the open space, the view and most importantly the quality in a Shea home.

Don’t use Shea mortgage! And upgrade options are very overpriced. Things that can be done later, such as landscaping, are better to do on your own.

I ultimately bought the place for the location and view...but Shea didn’t make it easy. It was a struggle every step of the way. I don’t know if that’s because I had already been working with a lender, and didn’t want to go with Shea Mortgage, (they wouldn’t even quote me ballpark rates), or because that’s just how they work. Getting responses, tracking down information, getting forms completed, it was always chasing after multiple people to get what we needed. Now that I am living in the space, I see a lot of workmanship issues, things that were just lazy/sloppy finishes, where I expect more for the price I paid. Still working with them to take care of some of those issues. That side of customer service seems to be going ok. ... More
