This is an extreme disappointment and grief I want to bring into your notice that we are facing each day since we have moved to our new house. There were lot of plumbing/ drainage issues each day at different corners of the house. The delivery of the house came with lot of problems that we did not expect at all with Shea homes. We trusted that home inspections are properly done by Shea at each point especially in plumbing and drainage matters. At this time, in midnight we have called After hour emergencies to get this drainage and plumbing issues resolved. We were at risk of our lives where there was water all over in the jack and Jill bathroom and one of the attached rooms that too underneath the tiles and carpet that we cannot have any control over. In the night, around 11 pm accidentally I went to use the bathroom where I noticed water leaking in jack and Jill bathroom underneath the toilet seat area and bathroom floor tile and it got spread all over underneath the carpet in one of the attached rooms. This was an extremely disastrous for us to have faced such an issue in the middle of the night. It took away my sleep and I woke up my husband to look into it. Our infant sleeps in these rooms, this was not at all okay for us to compromise with the quality and delivery we have got to what we have invested in. Earlier also, we had noticed that bathroom fixtures were not installed properly which we ignored as minor problems and fixed it ourselves but past few days getting each part of the house dismantled and getting it all fixed while residing with an infant is a huge stress for us. I do not know what else to say to show how unhappy we are. We did not expect this kind of work from Shea. We are awake at this time and getting it fixed is so annoying and disturbing for us. I mean do we have to live in fear that something else might come up in future again. Also, there is a structural issue which we have mentioned before closing. The main door is crooked and have gaps which allow the air to pass through. The warranty rep told me to bend your neck and you won’t see the any problem. It all started the day we step into the office to view the models. That day we found our dream home. The ladies in the office are experts and enjoy helping the customer’s. LeAnne, Ramona and Donna go the extra mile to assist, and answer all the questions Once the build process started we were blessed to get Peter as out field manager Peter is excellent and provides exceptional customer service. Currently we are under the warranty process working with Athea She provides superb assistance. When we started our build process, all we heard from others people that previously build home was what a nightmare the build process was, but obviously they did not build with Shea and their amazing staff! Major communication issues from beginning to end, hard to get timely resolution on issues, missing appliances is an ongoing issue. It will be a beautiful house...once all the issues are finally resolved. Plan on managing fixes after you move in like a second job - they always expect you to be home and available and the list of issues to address post move is VERY long.

Overall our experience with Shea was great. The responsiveness of the sales team was a little lacking at times, and they struggled to get timely updates from the construction team and convey that information to us. The close out superintendents were outstanding and very responsive and professional. Our experience at the design center was also outstanding. We were a bit frustrated by certain things being options rather than standard at this price point (i.e. drywalling the garages), and the option pricing for the walk out basement was very misleading in that there is a lot premium for a walkout lot, but then another $48K option that is essentially mandatory for the walkout foundation. The foundation adder really should be rolled into the lot premium to be more transparent about the real cost of a walkout. ... More

Overall my experience was very good. The teams were responsive during the build process. After move-in, I sometimes feel that my warranty rep and I are not communicating the best, but I still have the 5 and 11 month visits to make sure everything gets worked out.

I appreciated the professionalism of the staff throughout our home buying process. I felt comfortable discussing issues that arise and confident that they would be resolved. I did not like that we had to had to do our walkthrough and close on our purchase before everything was completed. There are many issues we found after we’ve moved in that we now have to address through the warranty department. It’s frustrating having to book appointments and take time off work to handle these issues. Additionally, there were minor changes we wished Shea had offered like adding or moving outlets or putting in a regular bathroom door that are difficult and expensive to make after construction. several aspects of the construction as subpar. It seems that a lot of inexperienced sub-contractors used. For example, most doors/frames in my house were not plumbed and leveled properly so they do not close with an even reveal. There is not attention to detail. The subcontractor who installed the kitchen cabinets did a horrible job as the cabinets are not leveled correctly and the crown molding is not even.

I am very happy with my home buying experience with Shea homes. The sales team Mac, Dave and Helen were always professional and helpful. I worked with Mac for the entire 2-year process and he was always helpful and patient. Mindy in the design studio was very knowledgeable and a pleasure to work with, she was truly trying to help rather than sell options (Not the experience I had with a previous builder). VaSean(sp) was helpful during the build phase. Corey was helpful during the acceptance phase. He and his team found more items to correct than I did. They were very thorough and I appreciate that. Connor has been very helpful and responsive during the warranty phase. Logan did a great job setting up the Wi-Fi and smart features in the home. Overall, the Shea team has made this a great buying experience and I am very satisfied with the quality of the house. ... More

So, I wish my house was the exception, but unfortunately it is the rule. My whole block has poor quality finishes and missing items. For example, trade crew installed a tankless water system without a pump. Didn’t figure this out until we complained about not having hot water after the water was running for just under 5 minutes. We and others have extensive lists of things that need to be fixed. I understand that all new construction has some issues, but our lists seem to be much more extensive than is reasonable. Even a neighbor, who is a third time Shea customer, is equally disappointed in the quality of the finish work in the new homes that Shea is currently building. ... More

Overall a good experience. Warranty issues and communication could improve.

Shea is a very organized production builder. We were very pleased throughout the sales and building process. They have excellent follow up through their warranty program as well.

Three items: 1. Our experience to date with SheaConnect has not been pleasant. The WiFi shut down, taking the applications, plus our printer and the WiFi functions on my cell phone with it. 2. We can not add a security front door to our home because there is a beam on the ceiling that prevents a door from opening outward. I consider this a design flaw. 3. There is no electrical outlet on or in the area of the front porch. The steps are shaded and we need electric pads to melt snow and ice on the steps. Another flaw not obvious until winter arrives.

Tina, Travis, Cody, Weston, James, Brooke, Julie and Marci were professional, nice, knowledgeable and very responsive. I have not one complaint. My home is beautiful and actually even better than I imagined. The floor plan is innovative and functions well. The build is sound and the choice of finishes made it difficult to stay on a budget which is very typical for me to struggle to stay within budget. The standard/included features are a cut above what other builders offer. The Canyons is an amazing community and I feel grateful to be able to live in such a great place. I purchased my home from Shea at end of sept 2022. I love my home. Shea made the whole buying process extremely easy and every step of the way each employee was responsive and very kind. Even after my home buying experience the warranty rep has treated me the same way. It has been an effortless process, my hardest experience was staying on the wait list to get my lot and then waiting for my home to be built. This is my second new home in 7 years. I built with another builder for my previous home and my experience buying my first new home was very poor along with their warranty service. My new home with Shea is built as solidly as the model I walked through several times. Highly highly recommend Shea. Overall we are pleased with the price for the quality. We did not like the lack of communication and taking sometimes 2 weeks to get a response to a question. We also only got updates every 2 weeks by email, no calls, no customer service in that regard. Most emails were along the lines of "hey we got your framing done, next is air conditioning" with no timeline, no response to my question on when the hvac crew would be there. They never confirmed anything related to the schedule until it was already completed. I spoke with their Director of Construction Shawn and he was short, wouldn't offer any information on when they were scheduling tasks to be completed and essentially laughed when I asked for a concession because we were told at contract 7-9 months when it took 12 months and 9 days from contract to closing. At the end, we are paying $700 more a month because they could not complete the home in 9 months or less due to interest rates. I have spent 20 years in the residential construction and home building business and this was not the norm even with the supply chain and labor struggles in the market. The super that finished our home didn't complete 75% of the list we made 8 days before closing. On the final sign off the day before closing we noted most of those items and the painters had shown up as we were leaving. Not the way to do business and we spent most of the 12 months frustrated with Shea Homes and there just wasn't much we could do about it. Here we are 2 months post closing and we still are waiting another week to get the items that were supposed to be done prior to closing completed. ... More

The home took a little more time to be built than expected. They did not have framers for 3 months. Shea mortgage did not contact us 90 days out as promised. I had to call them. Brandon was very professional and helpful and continues to be when ever I have questions. Overall, satisfied with product after being in 2 months.

We expected a lot more from Shea Homes, especially in quality of workmanship. The COVID excuse needs to stop, yes supply chain issues still exist but quality of workmanship should still be priority one. Everything was going great right up until 2 months prior to closing when oversight of final build went out the window, When we did a walk through and blue taped everything, hardly anything had been fixed when we closed and moved in, it literally looked like they just went in an removed all the taped items and called it good. The house was filthy with paint and paint can marks on the LVP flooring, dirt on floors and walls etc. We were shocked at how dirty the place felt. In fairness, Shea has been outstanding with our concerns, complaints and trying to make things right, but it has been a tremendous amount of work on our part to schedule all of these trades to come fix everything. ... Loved working with such genuinely awesome people. Very lucky that we got our dream home from Shea. I work for an apartment builder and understand the frustrations in the industry, Shea is truly the best.

From the day we went under contract, Shea has been a great partner as our home builder. Everyone, including sales, construction and warranty, is very responsive, quick to help and extremely pleasant to work with. We love our Shea forever home!

We had a positive buying experience through Shea Homes. In all, it was about a 2 year process (1 year to secure a lot, 1 year to build). Mac and the Shea team were always straightforward, easy to work with, and responsive whenever we had questions. Alex managed the building process well, and was attentive with any building needs. After we moved in, Conor was quick to help with any warranty needs. While the price did increase while we were waiting for the lot, it was still a good value when we closed (especially compared to the market). We would buy with Shea again in the future.

Generally good production build experience. Would have liked more flexibility with options and finishing, such as built-in cabinetry and shelving in the great room and study, or requiring the Shea pre-defined basement finish floor plan to get 10' foundation walls.
