Generally good production build experience. Would have liked more flexibility with options and finishing, such as built-in cabinetry and shelving in the great room and study, or requiring the Shea pre-defined basement finish floor plan to get 10' foundation walls.

garages are extremely small and no 4 car option. Numerous issues in need of correcting after close. Appliance options are poor. Monogram is a terrible product! There's no flexibility in finishes and few options.

Hi there, I am a real estate professional and the purchasing process was average, if not below average. The design center was fun and wish we had more options for things such as solid core doors, different texture, etc. At this price point you would think you’d have the option to select things like this. Onto the post-closing has been excellent and exceptional. Anytime I’ve had a problem, it’s been handled with no push back. This has made up for the upfront disappointment.

Shea Homes responded:
Hi Andrew. Thank you for the feedback. We try to offer buyers options that are current and popular in the market. We appreciate you sharing the specific options you were interested in so we can continue to learn and improve based on what is most important to our customers. We are glad to hear that the warranty process is going well making up for your disappointment. Thank you for purchasing a Shea home. ...

Shea has a reputation for high quality homes, but our experience was different. Their vendors did a poor job on quality control across the board from cabinets to painting to cleanliness. They have been good about getting things fixed and repaired, but the experience has been disappointing.

Three items: 1. Our experience to date with SheaConnect has not been pleasant. The WiFi shut down, taking the applications, plus our printer and the WiFi functions on my cell phone with it. 2. We can not add a security front door to our home because there is a beam on the ceiling that prevents a door from opening outward. I consider this a design flaw. 3. There is no electrical outlet on or in the area of the front porch. The steps are shaded and we need electric pads to melt snow and ice on the steps. Another flaw not obvious until winter arrives.

Expected more from the Shea name

We expected a lot more from Shea Homes, especially in quality of workmanship. The COVID excuse needs to stop, yes supply chain issues still exist but quality of workmanship should still be priority one. Everything was going great right up until 2 months prior to closing when oversight of final build went out the window, When we did a walk through and blue taped everything, hardly anything had been fixed when we closed and moved in, it literally looked like they just went in an removed all the taped items and called it good. The house was filthy with paint and paint can marks on the LVP ...

Shea needs work to be exceptional

Shea is already above the rest of the builders in Colorado. However, they are not fulling living up to their perceived reputation. Communication, communication, communication is big in the world between customers and the business. It is just as important internally in a business. Shea has a lot of work to do with communication. Lastly, I would say Shea could do a regular audit of their employees’ job performances. Of the handful of employees I interacted with, there were a couple that had competency issues with job duties. Aside from the previous faults, I do like my house and quality within.

The buying process was mostly good but at times we found it difficult to collaborate on issues or concerns and are still dealing with a couple of items. We're also very disappointed with the dual metro district situation and that added lifetime cost of ownership.

Good communication and follow up by sales staff, construction supervisors, and warranty rep. Very professional. Homes are very close together, Design Center choices somewhat limited. Quality of workmanship and attention to detail by subcontractors is lacking, especially by painters., GE appliances have many issues, and GE has horrible customer service for warranty repairs.

Overall we are pleased with the price for the quality. We did not like the lack of communication and taking sometimes 2 weeks to get a response to a question. We also only got updates every 2 weeks by email, no calls, no customer service in that regard. Most emails were along the lines of "hey we got your framing done, next is air conditioning" with no timeline, no response to my question on when the hvac crew would be there. They never confirmed anything related to the schedule until it was already completed. I spoke with their Director of Construction Shawn and he was short, wouldn't offer ...

We have been very disappointed on the quality of workmanship on a home from Shea that has been so highly regarded. We have been in our home for almost 5 months and they are still trying to take care of our 1 month warranty work. When a homeowner points out poor quality of work, it should be taken care of, not argued about.

The experience up to the closing was great, but once you sign your name on the dotted line, good luck getting anything done. The warranty department is like pulling your own teeth, they have a lot of excuses for any problems you bring up, after you move in you’ll start finding issues with the poor workmanship.

Promising start, inconsistent finish to our home purchase process.

Sales team was very friendly and knowledgeable. They made the purchasing process fairly easy. Our issues started toward the end of the construction process: inconsistent quality control, pipes that were hanging 12 inches lower than they should have been in the basement, and a water heater that needed to be moved 3 different times. It was difficult to get concerns addressed throughout construction and during the final walkthroughs. We kept being told “well, it was built to our standards.” If that’s truly the case, Shea Homes needs to re-examine its standards. The goal was clearly to build our ...

Major communication issues from beginning to end, hard to get timely resolution on issues, missing appliances is an ongoing issue. It will be a beautiful house...once all the issues are finally resolved. Plan on managing fixes after you move in like a second job - they always expect you to be home and available and the list of issues to address post move is VERY long.

So, I wish my house was the exception, but unfortunately it is the rule. My whole block has poor quality finishes and missing items. For example, trade crew installed a tankless water system without a pump. Didn’t figure this out until we complained about not having hot water after the water was running for just under 5 minutes. We and others have extensive lists of things that need to be fixed. I understand that all new construction has some issues, but our lists seem to be much more extensive than is reasonable. Even a neighbor, who is a third time Shea customer, is equally disappointed in ...

We were huge fans of Shea Homes (repeat buyers), but the quality of workmanship in our new home is extremely disappointing. We were so excited to move into a new Shea home, but have been dealing with frustrating warranty issues since we moved in ten weeks ago (one representative says they will fix it, but the other says they won't), and still are dealing with obvious issues that we assumed would be covered such as dirty carpet from the subs, grout overspray on our brand new tile, an irrigation system which leaks, nicks on our brand new cabinet hardware, cabinet installation issues, shoddy ...
