Overall the home is solid. Sales office was professional and responsive to questions during the purchase and prior to closing. However, the inability to make simple electrical or plumbing change to the interior "cookie cutter" electrical and plumbing design was frustrating! Very surprised at some of the pre-determined choices. It's the "details". Why puts a shingle roofs on an a $700k home in hail country? (We Understand costs...) Why put decor electrical switches throughout the home, but "old style" (round) plugs? They don't match. Upgraded to a tankless water heater, but "recirculation" ...

This was our first experience dealing with a large builder and we were pleasantly surprised. They were very responsive to our questions and concerns and they got the home done on time - even in the middle of a pandemic.

It’s hard for me to accept that when you buy a home the brand new oven trips the breaker. Shea knew before the purchase and said nothing. Now I’m stuck waiting on a part that is three more weeks out to hopefully fix the issue. It’s already been 10’ weeks. I’ve now learned it’s a know issue with many homes in the area. Pretty disappointing for a brand new home:

The home took a little more time to be built than expected. They did not have framers for 3 months. Shea mortgage did not contact us 90 days out as promised. I had to call them. Brandon was very professional and helpful and continues to be when ever I have questions. Overall, satisfied with product after being in 2 months.

Generally good production build experience. Would have liked more flexibility with options and finishing, such as built-in cabinetry and shelving in the great room and study, or requiring the Shea pre-defined basement finish floor plan to get 10' foundation walls.

Most of our house is great. The quality of most of what we have is awesome. But the details do matter and it does feel like we have some issues that Shea just isn't able to resolve -- Starting with the fact that our carpet is ruined after less than 2 months because it's impossible to clean, it pills constantly. And when it pills, it runs and loses its pattern for inches that are very noticeable. Our appliances don't match - for some inexplicable reason. And despite every attempt to get our "smart house" to connect our outlets to the app provided, we still have issues with these light ...

Communication from the Sales Department has been exceptional. Understanding that we purchased our home at the onset of the COVID Pandemic, there have been some challenges; communication from trades & completion of punchlists have been the largest hurdle. Shea has a reputation for high quality homes, but our experience was different. Their vendors did a poor job on quality control across the board from cabinets to painting to cleanliness. They have been good about getting things fixed and repaired, but the experience has been disappointing.

Overall quality of home is very good. Warranty service on construction defects excellent. Value for money in today’s market is questionable, but that is an individual choice. Having owned 8 brand new homes in that last 49 years, Shes is good only disappointment is lack of attention to yards outdoors. Enough said.

Three items: 1. Our experience to date with SheaConnect has not been pleasant. The WiFi shut down, taking the applications, plus our printer and the WiFi functions on my cell phone with it. 2. We can not add a security front door to our home because there is a beam on the ceiling that prevents a door from opening outward. I consider this a design flaw. 3. There is no electrical outlet on or in the area of the front porch. The steps are shaded and we need electric pads to melt snow and ice on the steps. Another flaw not obvious until winter arrives.
