This is our first home in USA and we could not ask for better!! From day 1 which is visiting the sales office our experience has been amazing. The support and professionalism shown by Shea staff stands out than any other we have heard or seen. The crew (sales, construction, mortgage etc.) have been really helpful. House is build to meet all the regulatory requirements and codes so one can sleep peacefully. I am really grateful to Shea team as even with the issues faced due to pandemic and winter storm they managed to get the house ready before estimated time. customer service is good, as I move here, if I have any issue, customer service response quickly and do it fast

I enjoyed my home buying experience. With so many builders in Houston we chose Shea partially because of their sales rep. She made us feel at home as soon as we stepped through the model home’s door. My home is beautiful. Every morning walking out of my bedroom I feel like I’m at a resort.

Love the design and the location of the development so close to Chatfield is awesome

Easy process and good quality home

The home is great, however little things are not been completed right, I think that really brings Shea home over all experience with some dissatisfaction. The escrow was lack of communication( someone on vacation) no one followed up. The front door lock not working when we supposed to ( get the key) the solar was a nightmare. And the location actually does not have a statable internet, I think as a large community, shea home should connect with city and other services provider better that will help with over experience:

Shea Homes did a great job with the sales process, most but not all of their employees were great and accommodating. This being a starter home I was not expecting everything to be amazing but it was not bad. There are definitely some areas where they could have done better such as having gutters over the rear patio door to keep rain from splashing into the home if your door was open. Better quality control for, paint,(there are paint drops on the floor, towel bars, island etc), cabinet install (drawers do not slide well, and the blemishes and wrong install inside the boxes were just covered with stickers), the sound transmission across floors and bedrooms is disappointing (can hear someone showering upstairs and water draining in the kitchen from downstairs). Lastly the community planning for the driveways and alleyways is not the best, it is difficult to park into your own garage if you have a car parked on the driveway and your neighbor has one on theirs (no backing space or wide enough turn radius) Other than these items the house layout is great and the features provided are an upgrade ... The house is great and they built it pretty quickly. But as with any multiunit that supposed by the deadline to please buyers the workmanship suffers and the result shows it. The warranty is great but certain things can’t be fixed since you already live in the house and it is hard to get people to come out to fix things.

Overall our experience with Shea was great. The responsiveness of the sales team was a little lacking at times, and they struggled to get timely updates from the construction team and convey that information to us. The close out superintendents were outstanding and very responsive and professional. Our experience at the design center was also outstanding. We were a bit frustrated by certain things being options rather than standard at this price point (i.e. drywalling the garages), and the option pricing for the walk out basement was very misleading in that there is a lot premium for a walkout lot, but then another $48K option that is essentially mandatory for the walkout foundation. The foundation adder really should be rolled into the lot premium to be more transparent about the real cost of a walkout. ... More

Second home from Shea. Very professional, helpful, pleasant and always available to answer questions or concerns.

Although our experience with Shea Builders has been, for the most part, very positive, there are some issues that still require attention. For example: We were promised that the exterior paint problems would be addressed prior to closing. Two months, the area outside our front door remains unpainted, although it has been scheduled on at least three different times. I don’t understand why the painter has been unresponsive. Ryan has certainly gone out of his way to get this done! Shea needs to pay more attention to the quality of work that some of the subcontractors are performing. Cabinet doors still do not work or fit properly, even though an Oak Craft person has been here to correct the problems. Interior doors don’t close properly, not because of settling or expansion, but due to hinges or plates not being installed properly. Finally, our range hood vent cover is sitting in boxes in our garage, uninstalled, because the installers didn’t know what to do when they came to install it (twice). Items being on back order is one thing. Not being able to install them when they arrive is another. Ryan has scheduled a date in September to get most of the work completed, and I commend him for his responsiveness!! ... More

I would have given 5 stars for all of the above, but two things need to be improved: 1) The warranty specialist is too busy. He does not respond to requests in a timely manner. Even the appointments for urgent things are two weeks out (or more). 2) It appears that Shea Homes contracted some other company to do the tiles and then seal the tile grout. That company either forgot to seal the grout or didn't do a good job. We have grout coming out even with a sponge and water. The good part is that Shea Homes is responding, but still no resolution after 2 weeks+

Buying experience with the Sales staff was great. Post-closing not as good. I found a box of nails on my roof two months after closing. 30-day review did not go smoothly. Multiple trades for touch-up issues were scheduled without letting us know. Also, our backyard gate/fence was installed the wrong way and, 9 weeks after closing, it still has not been remedied. Multiple issues with post-closing items still remain pending.

The sales team, Marci and Eric were amazing to work with. Work around our schedules and always made us feel excited. My only knock is that many things are not complete in our home, due to back ordering, which I understand but the communication (or lack there of) has been disappointing. We have no idea of when we will have these items installed.

Excellent home buying experience but when it comes to after sales service we are very disappointed

Overall decent for the price but 2 major issues. - The walls thickness are probably at minimum allowed by the state law, according to another Builder that I have asked. Apparently some builders are trying to save money on materials so they cut back on building homes the proper way. The sound travels easily through the Walls, I mean literally any sound. I could be in the master bedroom brushing my teeth and someone in the kitchen can hear my electric toothbrush!!I can even hear my Neighbors talking at night from inside their house. No, they’re not being loud typical conversation, cuz I can literally tell. - They claim their homes are energy efficient and windows are sealed pretty tight. Definitely neither are true. Yes they have led lights for all their light bulbs, but that’s about it. If I can smell my neighbors bbq with my windows and doors closed that’s not air tight nor energy efficient. ... More

I love my home. I know covid didn’t help with seeing it built as much as I wanted to but overall home and price is amazing. Can’t wait to buy more homes in the future. Easy process.
