Working with Shea on this build was great. Obviously a lot of moving parts and decisions to be made. We felt supported the entire way and the professionalism demonstrated by all involved provided confidence and comfort. Many thanks to Kara, Bryan, Theresa, Steve and all others behind the scenes. We really appreciate your help and support along the way.

After going through the entire experience, we’ve realized very quickly that if it wasn’t for the sales staff, we would have walked away. It started with the design studio session, we were told to be prepared which meant going through Shea design studio software (via computer) which had a 3D model of our home and allowed us to select our materials (flooring/ countertops/ cabinets etc.). My wife and I spent 2 weekends going through software and designing what we felt was our perfect house, only to show up to our design studio (in person) session to find out our Shea representative didn’t even review prior to our appointment. Thankfully my wife brought her computer which we had to get out and open up the Shea design studio software to show the Shea representative our selections. After spending an hour or so going through the model we spent hours building, we were told that 90% of our selections are no longer available - Are you kidding me? The design studio session was a one time only, 4hr block, and we just wasted an hour or so of our 4hr block to learn all the pre-work we’ve done was completely useless. Since we had to start from scratch, I advised the Shea representative to get comfy because we will be there until closing time only to be told that we only had less then 3hrs to make our choices. I immediately requested to speak to a supervisor, after a few minutes of going back and fourth, the Shea representative called her supervisor and got approvals to spend and extra hour with us but also allow us to have a second 4hr session. This was great news, however the dog fight to get to that point was complete nonsense. To add to a day that was supposed to be fun, during our design studio session, the Shea representative thought it was ok to show us examples on her computer (flooring, countertops, cabinets) vs product examples I could see and touch in person. We were told by the Shea representative that she hurt her back and was moving slowly, which I sympathize, but I told her to show me where the product is and I will carry it all but without seeing it in person we’re not making any decisions. During the final walk through, my wife and I were talked down to and belittled from the construction superintendent and we were told countless times - ‘trust us, warranties team has a huge bucket of money and will take care of everything’. The issue with this, during our final walk through, which was specifically scheduled +2 weeks before final signing/ closing, it was explained to my wife and I that we are there to point out any inefficiencies and that we wanted to identify now so it can be fixed for the final signing/ closing. Well, during this walk, we were repeatedly told to not worry about inefficiencies we’ve identified and constantly told we’re being too picky and this isn’t a ‘custom home’. Fast forward 2 weeks to final signing/ closing and wouldn’t you know it, not 1 issue we identified was addressed. Not only were the issues not addressed, as I walked in I was immediately given an iPad to sign stating all issues have been resolved. I asked to walk the house prior to signing and was greeted with attitude by the field superintendent, which immediately changed my attitude. After reluctantly walking the house with me, I pointed out inefficiencies we had reviewed 2 weeks prior and asked why these weren’t taken care of, only to be given attitude and told ‘this is no longer a conversation, your to needy/ picky and we’re not fixing and this is warranties issue now’. WHY would you not want to address all and any issues prior to the home owner moving in??? After I move in, I don’t want you back as much as you don’t want to have to return to fix an issue that was clearly identified in a timely manner. During the entire build process, I can’t begin to count the amount of times we were told about the warranties team and their responsibility and that Shea wants a happy home buyer. This was great until we actually have to go through the process now, again I go back to final walk through and taken 4hrs out of my day to walk our house to help review the build and support identifying inefficiencies only to learn none were taken care of prior to closing. Now we have to go back and walk our entire house again with warranties and do it all over again? But now warranties team tells us about all these ‘rules’ that must be followed in order to identify if Shea is responsible of fixing or if it’s on us. ARE YOU SERIOUS? Top it off, as we point out the exact same inefficiencies with the warranties team, we are now questioned if we created the issue or if it was actually during construction. As if things couldn’t get worse, the title company that is Shea preferred, had a security breach the Friday before the week of our closing. Outside of our bank reaching out, the only person who stepped up to let us know what was happening was a Shea sales representative and continued to support us by keeping us informed. Meanwhile, we still had our final/ closing scheduled which we proceeded with. Outside of the other issues that transpired during the closing walk, I was also treated like I was the reason there was a security breach at sheas preferred title company and told by the field superintendent that he wasn’t obligated to give me my keys. Seriously? Again, I had nothing to do with the security breach and my wife and I were the only ones reaching out to all parties to get updates and asking for next steps and out our entire lives on hold to make sure we were available only to be treated like that. We spent a lot of money on this home, we’ve done a lot of research on builders and truly believed Shea was the right fit for us but we question if we made the right decision spending the extra money for the customer service that doesn’t seem to line up and was preached to us constantly. Again, the sales team was top notch and seemed to be the only Shea team members who actually had our backs as the home buyers. ... More

We were very pleased with the entire process with Shea Homes from initial site selection through to closing. Shea homes is a top notch builder.

So the worst part of our experience was the design center. Shea only offered packages for designs. We have built numerous homes, and this was the worst experience. There were things we didn't want that came with the package. Home could have been cleaned a bit better. Painters were terrible with not using drop clothes, so LOTS and LOTS of white paint specs all over the wood floors.

Overall experience from home purchasing to move was great.

The quality of work and attention to detail is seriously lacking. For a nearly 1,000,000 dollar home you’d expect a lot more in terms of finishing. The baseboards bow inward in some areas, the staircase where the dry wall meets the flooring is atrocious, and nearly all the downstairs light dimmers are making a buzzing noise. There are multiple areas where the drywall seams are noticeable and even lumpy. The tile work in the bathrooms is horrible in some areas and the master bath shower glass is scratched. Also there is unique touch at the top of the stairs beneath the newel post where the 3/4 inch trim, baseboard, and newel post corners all point in different directions. We have been delighted with the Shea experience. Our sales representative,Matt is the most honorable, thorough and responsive person we have ever experienced. Shea makes the home building process seamless with no stress.

This is more for the false advertising of our home. We bought our home because I loved the outdoor paint and all the detail. Well our house looks nothing like the picture of what it was sold to us as . Very disappointing. When asked they said oh ya those pictures are wrong . Well, that should have been told to us when we bought the house !!!!

This is my first time building a home in a new location. It will be a main residence soon. From start to finish, Shea was wonderful. Kara in sales office called us about a lot, set us up with the design and build team, and answered all questions honestly and quickly. Jason, the GC for the build, kept me informed, sent progress photos, and held my hand the entire way through. What could’ve been very stressful became very simple.

Remarkable construction quality. My condo has appreciative privacy and the space has been very well designed providing plenty of storage. The ventilation is awesome with lots of sunlight and efficient dual panel windows.

Quality employees are the best part.

We had our house built during Covid and while were living in Illinois. We felt the communication with Mike, who was general superintendent for the project, was great. He kept us informed, answered the phone and our questions and always had a terrific attitude. When we got into finishes and punch list items, Conner was fantastic to work with. He was there almost immediately with the normal day to day issues that we asked to deal with and like Mike, always had a great attitude and a smile. This home is amazing and we couldn't be happier.

Great, professional, and friendly customer service

The feeling is like buying an unfinished home. A linen closet, but no shelves or doors, a kitchen sink is only included if you select from the chepest counter top, pay additional for light wiring in the ceiling but no light bulb is included, etc. The backyard is not your choice but the HOA approved choice. Like it or not.

This is our first Shea home and we are very happy with the experience. Starting with Michael in Sales, our field managers Will and Alexis were all engaged and ensured we have a smooth build and move-in experience. We are pleased with the quality and workmanship of our home and extremely happy with the warranty support offered by Rob.

We had a great experience buying our first home with Shea! From the design team working with Lorri, to working with Tom and Victor, they are always responsive and here to help! Victor stops by often if we have a question and to check on us and we really appreciate that. We feel cared for and everyone we've worked with has felt like a friend!

Shea builds a beautiful home with thoughtful layouts. Let me start with Kara. She was incredible to work with throughout the process. She always went above and beyond for us and helped us during the difficult emotional times of building a home. She is the gold standard for representing Shea Homes!!! Scott was out Field Manager. Like Kara, Scott was a G-d send. He was extremely communicative throughout the build. He always took our calls and responded to our texts. No ask was unimportant to Scott. If it was important to us, he looked into it and responded quickly. Scott had zero black holes. I never had to remind him a second time about anything throughout the 12 month build. His attention to detail was incredible. He would notice various things (ie tile not level, master bath accent tile appearance, and so many other details),that quite honestly, we may have missed, and he would proactively get them corrected until it met his high standards of workmanship. He always explained every detail of the house build so that we understood why certain aspects of the home are built the way they are (ie the attic insulation methodology). As I mentioned, no ask was too much for Scott. We had heard horror stories about other Site Directors which made us feel so incredibly fortunate to have Scott on our home. Like Kara, Scott is the Gold Standard and represents the Shea product to its highest level!!! We are also very thankful to have Steve as our Post-Close Warranty Specialist. Like Kara and Scott, Steve responds very quickly to anything we have and no ask is too big for Steve to handle. We look forward to working with Steve throughout our first year. Design was a total mess!!! The selection offerings were not up to par with the cost of the home and the designer we were assigned to had no idea of what options were truly available and made minimal suggestions. She also struggled immensely with using the design system and selection tools. She made numerous mistakes, that we had to fix after the close, that cost us over $10,000! She even got downright rude at times. The entire design process is extremely rushed and high pressure. They need to completely revamp their Design portion of the build. As a side note, I rated responsiveness to issues a 3 because of the design process not the warranty service. I would actually rate the Design responsiveness a 1 and the Sales, Construction and Warranty responsiveness a 5. Shea Homes did not seem to care, or be willing to assume any responsibility for what happened during design. Our designer was fired, but that does not help us in any way. ... More

Beautiful area of the state with expensive, nicely designed homes. Sizes and color schemes are great. Some things in the home could have been done better. The HOA is strict and not quick to respond. Looking forward to the clubhouse being built. Glad we have a Lifestyle Manager already in place.

This was my first new construction purchase. It was a mix of experiences. My initial sales person disappeared. I learned she was gone via email and never felt that I had a single person that I could direct questions to after that. The most responsive person I dealt with was my Field Manager.

My experience with the builder could have been better. The house is okay... Because of when I purchased the home, I was not able to choose any options/ upgrades. Therefore, there are many materials use in the house I do not like. I will now have to spend a lot of money upgrading my house....

Our sales people Kris and Mike were so inviting and knowledgeable about the product while our super’s Jason and Joe were incredibly responsive and willing to accommodate our concerns. House is a 10/10 and somewhere we can see ourselves for the rest of our lives. So happy.

My trust was broken when I was pressured to close versus what needed to be fixed and repaired on buyin a new product. Sad that a Superintendant tells me this is a production home. When I spent $750,000 in upgrades. Not a happy buyer

Way too many problems with the home. Poor workmanship overall.
