I recently had the pleasure of working with Shea Homes® Neo at Mission Foothills Builder for the construction of my new home, and I couldn't be more pleased with the experience. From start to finish, they demonstrated a commitment to excellence, delivering my home on time and surpassing my expectations in terms of quality. I would also like to extend my sincere gratitude to Nissrin Musallam, the COMMUNITY's REPRESENTATIVE, and Ryan Aguilar from the Shea Home Finance/Loan Department, both of whom played integral roles in ensuring a smooth and enjoyable process. First and foremost, the construction of my home was completed promptly, which is a testament to the efficiency and professionalism of Shea Homes® Neo at Mission Foothills Builder. Throughout the project, I witnessed the team's meticulous attention to detail, resulting in a home that exudes superb craftsmanship and superior build quality. We can’t give enough praise to the Shea team for their hard work. They were helpful, communicative, and knowledgeable from opening escrow to closing. Nissrin and Ada were excellent in answering all of our questions (even the dumb ones). Chrissy’s guidance with the design helped create a unique and timeless living space, and thankfully prevented my wife, Morgan, from picking a horrendous bright-blue tile in the primary bathroom. Sometimes with all the wonderful options available, some professional guidance is necessary. Roland ensured the finishes were perfectly executed, and Jason made sure our home will stay running smoothly for years to come. Very happy with their quality of work and efficient crew. This is a quality organization with top notch customer service.

First, I would like to focus on the positive aspects of our experience. There are three people who have contributed to making this experience a success. They are Ryan, Kara and Lala. Each has contributed in their own way to help promote a collaborative effort to realize the completion of our home. Our first contact with Shea was Kara. From the start, she was professional, personable and had a great sense of humor. She was tolerant of our many questions, requests and complaints. Her graceful approach helped smooth things out that led to the creation of our home and hopefully a continued relationship. Ryan was with us the most. His generosity and gentle demeanor walked us through the different stages of the building process. He was challenged on many occasions by some of the vendors and then had to work with us to explain why things were not going as planned. There were challenging times, but he stuck with us, much to his credit. Lastly, LaLa has provided us with the follow up of warranty work, questions on how things work or don’t and kindness and humor when dealing with vendors who don’t show up for a service call. LaLa, like Ryan, goes above and beyond to provide us with the information and help we have needed to get this house off to a good start. On more than one occasion, she has made time for us outside of her schedule to help us. She is always positive and a delight to be with. There were a few issues that I would like to bring to your attention. During our buying and building experience, design changes were made but not communicated to us until after the fact. This required time and effort to develop a new design plan and to resolve ourselves that what we thought we could have was not possible. The other change that I would request is that you give your team the authority to make decisions based on their expertise and experience. For example, we have a scratch in one of our windows. An appointment was made for the vendor to address this. We waited an entire day for this gentleman to come out and say “Yes, it’s scratched and should be replaced “. This is a huge waste of our time to sit at home the entire day only to have the vendor confirm what Lala had already determined as a defect. It would save time and money and frustration for your homeowners not to have to go through an inefficient process such as this. Without the help, kindness and support of Kara, Ryan and Lala I would not have bought or continued with building this home. ... More

Love the community. However, for the money spent the lack of quality in all finish work seemed cheap.

My high expectations have been exceeded throughout the entire home buying experience. Alan took are of the pre-sales process flawlessly, Joel was instrumental in getting the last minute details sorted during our walkthrough prior to moving in (and just after), and Tracey ensured that our minor workmanship issues were addressed during our 30 day warranty check-in. My wife and I are so pleased with our decision to purchase a Shea home. After five home-buying experiences (one internationaly), this has - by far - been the best experience to date. Well done Shea.

I have not yet moved in so I can’t give a thorough review. I found Katie and Kirstie in Sales to be attentive and helpful. I found Mike and Rome equally attentive to resolving issues on punch list. After project completion, I feel value for price paid was insufficient. Processes to deal with upgrade installation have been problematic.

Shea has a reputation for high quality homes, but our experience was different. Their vendors did a poor job on quality control across the board from cabinets to painting to cleanliness. They have been good about getting things fixed and repaired, but the experience has been disappointing.

Everything are awesome, my wife and me are very satisfied with the interior design style. I like the new equipment such as the inductive faucet switch, delay light off switch, automatic control of garages with cameras, etc,. Thank you for your professional working. One thing may need improvement The water in the swimming pool is a bit dirty, there are often flies or bugs dead body floating on the water. It would be better if you could clean up in time. The quality of Shea homes is amazing. Feel like I had to always reach out for communication. Follow up on services requests are slow and because my concerns were minor, I felt like I was often dismissed. When we purchased our home I requested a specific lot but was told they couldn’t go out of order and I had to choose from the lots they stated. After we signed our contract, market changed and low and behold they are not going in order and the lot I requested was built immediately.

Closed on our home 2 months ago, was about 1 full year since groundbreaking started. Process was generally smooth, issues with sub-contractors, design team, timing. We had an issue with missing carpet from the design center, was known since pre-drywall and was not resolved till 3-weeks before closing. Communication between sales/construction/design seems non-existent. Any issues we've had, have been addressed. We had an independent inspection done, sloppy work with drywall and stucco. Asked to repair and they will say that's the way it's done. I would say Shea is above average. Have heard many worse stories from other builders. ... More

Dependable service and work done

The experience we had was what I'd call, "just ok". In todays world and economy, striving for "Raving Fans" is critical (google the book RF). It was clear, it's about the money and the customer is simply granted lip service. I don't need to revisit things like construction delays, we all know about those. However, getting the home closed so the money can be put in the bank is way too aggressive and simply a poor way to do business. There were "promises" made and not kept. Thats why people use the term, I was lied to. Sorry, that's just fact. Your VP (Brian) did not like it at all when I used that term. I should have stuck to my guns in that conversation and emphasize my point better. I was lied to on one occasion. It was a big lie and it cost ME money as a result. As well, it's just bad business to complete something like a home which is a big investment for the home buyer, just to have to correct a large list of things after the fact. Clearly 2 different profit and loss centers. As for the good? We worked with a few wonderful people who we believe did their best. Ok, no last names but Deanna, Scott and Richard were wonderful. Hopefully Shea recognizes them as helpful in what were some significant, problematic situation. As for me, I'm going to be all in on this project to the tune of around $1.05M. This is the second home we build and the Shea experience was much better than the previous one. Quality and customer service were exceptional.

This is the third home we purchased from Shea. I really like their team in all departments, exceptional service overall. Quality of the homes are excellent overall. My family love Shea Homes.

People at Shea are great but have had several small issues after purchasing home. Response to resolve have been great.

Great experience, exceeded our expectations.

This is my second Shea home. My last home was built by another local builder and the quality was just not there. I chose to return to a Shea home because they pay attention to every detail during the building process, the interior design selections process and all the way to final closing. Everyone employed at Shea Homes are professional, experienced and welcoming. My home buying experience has been terrific!

Great care and responsiveness to questions

Dishonest sales office and supervisor. Lied about available floor plans in order to up sell. Lied about reasons for extensive delays and failed to take responsibility, simply blaming others for mistakes and problems. Disrespected me as a client. Failed to acknowledge my extreme disappointment with the entire home buying experience.

Very thankful to have found our new home at Trilogy Monarch Dunes. The whole process went by without a hitch. Everyone was a pleasure to work with.

Our overall experience with Shea was very positive! Matt our sales person is a tremendous asset to Shea! We had a wonderful experience with our field supervisor, Jason. AND would build an home with Jason again, should the opportunity present itself!! Our warranty specialist, Lala has been tremendous to work with also. The biggest issues we had was during our design center consultation and issues that arose from that process. Outlets were added when they were not needed for low voltage, tile flooring was not ordered to finish the covered patio space to match the home, bathroom faucets choice was not made originally and our back patio was lowered prior to build to allow for thicker stone when we already had decided to use porcelain tile with the landscaper. I will say that the process at the time was pretty smooth…just did not understand what it meant when our designer was new to Verde River, but not to Shea. Turnover happens and most of our issues have a positive side to them as well. Overall, A+ and we want to thank everyone to make this long distance build possible without many headaches at all!! ... Very happy with the entire experience. Tarry in Sales helped us find the perfect lot and Debbie in the Design Center helped us select finishes that we love even more now that we have moved in. Our construction manager Ryan was awesome to work with from start to finish and kept us updated on progress weekly. Richard has been very helpful with our minor issues after moving in. We absolutely love our new house and our new neighbors. Its a great community to be a part of.

Pros 1.The Hyde floor plan in Luxe at Canyons is great and the main reason we bought the house. Cons in order of priority 1. Final Walkthrough and Handover : We are pretty disappointed with this process. Firstly the house lacked a professional deep cleaning and there was still a lot of dust and dirt from construction. Second about 90% issues we found in final walkthrough were not fixed before closing and these were not handed over to the warranty rep. We pretty much had to do this all over again with warranty rep at 1st month and many of these are still not fixed. Finally I am left chasing individual contractors (through Shea) to schedule, inspect their work and ensure I get all the issues fixed. We expected much more from the handover rep and warranty rep. 2. Quality of Materials and Work: We are extremely disappointed in the quality of work and appliances for the price we paid for the house. Within our first month we had a roof leak and the vent stopped working the first time we used it. The quality of hardwood floors seems sub-par even though we picked the upgraded Elite package. It has a lot of dents and wear off from just a month of normal use. Also very disappointing to learn these are not covered by first year warranty. The list of medium/smaller issues goes on as we discover something new everyday day. Additionally the appliances are not covered by Shea and I was left to call the manufacturer multiple times to get a part shipped, tech come out etc when the appliance stopped working. 3. Design Choices and Value for Money: The design packages are not very buyer friendly and the way these are combined did not make a lot of sense e.g floor and counters are part of the same package. Offering a design plan that is more customizable where we can pick and choose different packages for each room will help customers since most other builders offer that. Also disappointed that Shea is the only builder in Canyons that doesn’t landscape front yard for buyers. 4. Specific to Luxe : Luxe is supposedly the higher end of Shea collection in Canyons. But the lots in Luxe are sub-par to other lower end collections such as Gallery. Also some friends who are in Gallery and other Shea collections seem to have better experiences with warrant etc. We would expect the opposite where Luxe has superior service since our house and lot premiums are much higher. ...
