The process was smooth and easy. Everyone that we talked to that was with Shea Homes was so professional. And they really do love working with Shea. Service is phenomenal and they respond so quickly to anything.

Shea and everyone we encountered in the organization made an effort to make us feel important and listened to.

After previously buying 2 new homes over many years, this was by far the best experience with Shea Homes. Everyone we came into contact with was highly professional and respectful. Every detail was documented. There were minimal issues when we took delivery of our home. Very high quality materials and workmanship. Would highly recommend buying a home from Shea.

Communication with the Shea Rep, field manager and warranty manager was very good. The Adobe systems were not transparent during the options/design decisions. For example, they didn't say that there were 3 places installed for the alarm keypad. Instead they waited until I was doing the set up after close to tell me that there was an extra charge per extra keypad. I found out through a friend it was wired for extra keypads. Dimmers on some low voltage lights under the counter but not under the bathroom toe kick. Not until I asked after closing did I get that. It is hard enough to move into a new house without having constant workmen coming and going. I opted for a light on the back of my house but that didn't include the fixture. Really? Couldhave said that. I had to buy it online and pay an electrician to install it. More prompts from the design center saying "do you want this?" Can't think of everything in those 2.5 days of design options. Two months after closing I'm still dealing with contractors. The sloppiness of the painters getting specks of paint on the tile wverywhere could have been avoided if they used a drop cloth. Now I have to mark all the spots and have them remove them. It should be a requirement "enforced" to wear booties to avoid concrete footprints on the tile. No one paid attention to the signs on the doors. Cleaning in preparation for my move in could have been better especially the glue on the tub, shower door and the windows. I was never asked where I wanted my dining room fixture so I had to pay an electrician to move and center it along with a can that was in the wrong place. I was never asked if I wanted a 20 amp in my garage. Again had to hire an electrician to put that in and pay for drywall repair on that and the light fixture positioning. Glue on the granite should have been cleaned off when installed. Being a detail person makes it hard to miss or ignore all of this. Overall I am very happy with my experience with Shea. Nothings perfect but the added stress would have been nice to avoid after closing. I really love all my options and my home is beautiful. ... More

The responsible service and high quality of home materials

I don't know what I was expecting but the craftmanship and quality of the materials is pretty poor. If I had to do it over again I probably wouldn't go with a new build. I basically paid a premium for the community, not the house.

I appreciated the professionalism of the staff throughout our home buying process. I felt comfortable discussing issues that arise and confident that they would be resolved. I did not like that we had to had to do our walkthrough and close on our purchase before everything was completed. There are many issues we found after we’ve moved in that we now have to address through the warranty department. It’s frustrating having to book appointments and take time off work to handle these issues. Additionally, there were minor changes we wished Shea had offered like adding or moving outlets or putting in a regular bathroom door that are difficult and expensive to make after construction. Considering how much this house cost, this makes the value for the price paid significantly lower. ... More

Many large problems with construction of workmanship both large and small issues. Priority to resolve is treated as secondary once closed. Concerned these issues will ever get resolved

Having prior experience with a new home purchase through another builder, we were pleasantly surprised with working with Shea Homes. Quality craftsmanship, seamless transition through the home purchase steps, and on-time delivery of new home.

Overall the experience was a very good one. Due to the pandemic, it has been hard to get repairs done in a timely fashion but my Trilogy team has been responsive to other smaller issues. I do appreciate the coordination between Trilogy and the HOA.

We came across the Dunes several times and it was a decision between The Dunes and Sea Haven. Between The Dunes and Sea Haven, Sea Haven offered more details in their constructions and the price was comparatively the same. We finally decided on The Dunes due to several things: 1) Closeness to the ocean, 2) Lower HOA cost, 3) What you see is what you get (on the model homes as we were told) so we did not have to worry to much on the final cost of the house, 4) We were given the impression that we could customize our house as it was being built (not true!!!). Unfortunately the only thing that was true was the closeness to the ocean. The HOA turned out to be more expensive, no customization was allowed (looks like we missed the part of AS-IS). We could not even get an extra outlet installed during framing (completely doable). We were even willing to pay for it, but no. Overall, I would greatly reconsider if I had to redo it again. ... Great floor plans. Great pre and post sales. Building felt rushed. Could’ve used more quality contractors with less mistakes.

It took too long to receive the unit, if shea home had told us estimated waiting period we would’ve made better decision

Shea was very responsive at every step of the way. We are very happy with our home. In full transparency, there were a few workmanship issues with the house (expected for houses being built at this scale), but Shea's customer service and warranty quickly addressed any issues and continue to follow up proactively.

They are very responsable. Aways very receptive to fix any detail in the house. Easy to communicate with.

We had a great experience with Shea homes. From the very beginning we felt part of the process, and enjoyed watching our home come to life. From the lot pick, to the upgrades and the design process we were walked thru with ease. The office representatives Bernadette and Josh were there to answer questions, and alot of them. The builders were very attentive to our concerns. Joe made sure to follow thru on our concerns through the entire process. The final walk thru, and monthly was also made very easy with Gary. We would highly recommend buying through shae homes, and would do the process again in the future! ... More

Beautiful exterior design and plan layout suitable for work from home & family life style.

We're SO happy that Shea built our home in 3 Roots! Shea faced many challenges given the labor shortage and supply market and still managed to complete our home in less than a year. Everything was executed fantastically. Coming from a construction family, I can truly say they built a solid home. I'm very impressed. The Shea team – everyone including the construction crew, realtors, and design center – were terrific to work with: polite, professional, quick to respond, and empathetic. Our closing date got pushed out because SDG&E didn't have our gas/electric setup, so every day from the original closing date to the new/future closing date Shea covered our hotel and meals ($40pp/day)! Once we closed, they included a housewarming gift of wine glasses from William Sonoma! It was such a nice surprise.
