Overpriced, multitude of issues, sloppy workmanship, slow fix times.

Home was delivered with a lot of visual imperfections (chips, dings, dents, etc) and things that were not fixed depsite notating them in the pre-close walk through. The superintendent called "Shorty" is incredibly rude and incompetent and less than helpful.

Would be a good home if they actually finished the fine details and had quality sub trades.

Thus far we are mostly enjoying our new home. However, the punch list and warranty process is terrible. They push you to close on your home but it is only 90% complete. There are many small details that are not complete and the fine details are of poor quality. Floor creaks, paint issues, exterior issues, door issues etc. They try to get things taken care of but just can't seem to get them resolved. They need to at least double if not triple the number of people they have for their construction punch list and warranty issues. We were only allowed in our home on Sunday's to inspect as the ...

The floor plans are great, everything else not so much

Pros 1.The Hyde floor plan in Luxe at Canyons is great and the main reason we bought the house. Cons in order of priority 1. Final Walkthrough and Handover : We are pretty disappointed with this process. Firstly the house lacked a professional deep cleaning and there was still a lot of dust and dirt from construction. Second about 90% issues we found in final walkthrough were not fixed before closing and these were not handed over to the warranty rep. We pretty much had to do this all over again with warranty rep at 1st month and many of these are still not fixed. Finally I am left ...

Three months later still dozens of items not fixed

  • Dima Z.

Shea sales proudly proclaims their commitment to quality since 1800s. But that's where it stops. Three months after closing, dozens of items still aren't fixed, including some requested to be fixed prior to closing during the final walkthrough. Service appointments are often cancelled at the last minute (or just a no-shows). Those that do show up often don't actually fix what they were there to fix (but still close the tickets). Extremely poor workmanship throughout the house - pretty much every single wall and ceiling have dents, bumps, and mismatched/uneven paint. Just some of the bigger, ...

Poor quality work on things like paint, cabinets, doors, flooring. In general workers don't seem to care and things are done poorly. Very poor communication from the construction team, and after closing we have long list of issues that we have no communication about, and have not gotten addressed.

There were children of the laborers at our home site while the home was being built-we have photos of them! We had multiple labor and material concerns ALL ALONG during the build, horrible workmanship, lack of quality, lack of caring. The painters were the worst, we continue to find more and more problems as we live in the house and the light shines on painted surfaces. Our framing wood quality throughout our home is bad, we had to fight so Shea didn't' use particle board pieces (7 on one) on our interior door frames. We sent multiple emails with legitimate concerns, most of which went ...

Shea Homes-Family - Shea limited site visits to only once per month, seemingly to

  • Anonymous

Shea limited site visits to only once per month, seemingly to avoid us (and others) from pointing out various issues, like missing insulation, or missing options, or incorrect placement of options. They like to blame the trades for these issues, but they don't seem to manage their trades very well, and are more concerned about meeting schedule than delivering quality.

Shea Homes - Made a mistake of buying a model home and paying for all those

Made a mistake of buying a model home and paying for all those upgrades at high prices. Being a model home, the builder only kept up with the house to make sure the lights and AC were working for other to see. There were so many issues with the house like appliances not work, missing parts, lack of explanation/manuals for the options included in the home price, etc. Getting things reported and being taken care of is another stressful process that no homeowner should go through. Shea home should have been more responsible to ensure that a decent and working home is sold and delivered to ...

The construction team did very little quality assurance of the tradesmen that build our house. As a result we have a laundry list of items that have to be addressed. Shea seems willing to address issues, hoping that it will get done right. The whole process is quite frustrating. If you buy from Shea I would recommend being all over them during the construction process.

There are way too many issues with the quality and workmanship of the house. Very disappointed with the builder. I'm spending hundreds of hours that the builder should have spent in the first place to quality check their production and fix the issues. They shouldn't fall on the shoulders of home owners.

Horrible experience from the loan process until today 2 months after move in. The quality of the home is not worth the price. Everyday we have at least 2 repair men coming in to fix problems. The house we paid for is not what we got. We have spent the last two months putting money into the house to get the options that we wanted and some we paid for and did not receive. Even the Home Pro products are not good quality to include the door bell. Every disappointed.

Catherine in sales is very courteous, professional and very responsive. The builder Matt, was generally not receptive to patent errors and in some instances expressed irritation when it was pointed out e.g. unlevelled flooring, narrow doorway where a person could barely fit through (eventually fixed) , framed out closets (eventually fixed) etc. Currently the soil around the walkway is greatly eroded due to a couple of rains exposing the cement underneath. Oven doesn't turn on. Broken diswasher installed at closing and was replaced after closing. Roof on walkway needs the flushing to be ...

We worked with Shea in the Littleton area for a new home build, and the purchase, design, and build were amazing!! The sales team was great in answering questions, providing info, and generally making the whole process feel smooth, but after they delivered the house we got to see the other side of Shea, and it has left us with buyer's remorse. Do not be the first in new phase - many issues

We were the first house to be delivered in a new phase and very openly felt like Shea delivered us the home too early. There were many issues with the house that we are still working on fixing over a month later. We don't even have a mailbox yet and have to pick up our mail from the post office! The home was not setup with usps so we could not get internet service until after we moved in. The OneTouch experience to setup all our home was difficult to coordinate and we still don't have everything setup. Overall we have not been pleased with the experience we sold vs. what Shea delivered.

Electronic devices and software don't function properly at The Grove, making it frustrating and wasting time, especially for a 55+ Active Adult community. Numerous repeat requests to customer service and numerous repeat visits by the trades to repair or replace defective equipment. Rinnai tankless water heater, canned lights, smart light switches, and Eero wifi are among the major problems.

Regret buying a Shea Home

Our Shea home in the Canyons has not been good. First, the salesperson Abbe who sold us the house told us that if we acted quickly we'd get a $50k credit. She didn't explain that $30k of that would only apply if we used Shea Mortgages. Now she's gone to fleece some other people at a different homebuilder. The craftmanship of the house is less than ideal. Our lights keep flickering, appliances don't work correctly, and many of the materials and craftsmanship that they used were less than standard in what I would assume is an effort to maximize their profit. The service folks we've dealt ...

The quality of work and attention to detail is seriously lacking. For a nearly 1,000,000 dollar home you’d expect a lot more in terms of finishing. The baseboards bow inward in some areas, the staircase where the dry wall meets the flooring is atrocious, and nearly all the downstairs light dimmers are making a buzzing noise. There are multiple areas where the drywall seams are noticeable and even lumpy. The tile work in the bathrooms is horrible in some areas and the master bath shower glass is scratched. Also there is unique touch at the top of the stairs beneath the newel post where the 3/4 ...

Keys were handed over to me before a thorough inspection of the home was done. During the final walkthrough, appliances were not run. Move in day, There was no water whatsoever in the washing machine, so I was unable to wash work clothes. The ice maker also had no ice/water hooked up. When I called to get help, they said I was out of luck because it was a weekend! I couldn’t get a single person to come out to address the problem, each one emphasizing that it was a Saturday. Sales lady was not helpful and was rude during closing, created so much confusion between the loan lender and us. The warranty guy sucks, doesn't even respond to emails, have items pending to be fixed from customer-walk through about 3 months ago. The Shea loan guy was just as bad, had to complain to his manager to get him to respond to my emails to get a Shea loan. Overall, almost backed out of the deal because of how horrible the staff and their dealing is. It was very stressful and frustrating at every step. I am extremely disappointed with the quality and workmanship of my newly-built home. As a new homeowner who has invested over $500K into this property, I expected a level of quality that is simply not present.
