The best thing Shea has done is hire Kim and Earl. They are the epitome of customer service and are the backbone of Shea homes in Cane Island. Kim is literally an encyclopedia of everything there is to know about Shea and their floorplans. She has the most amazing memory and the brightest smile. Earl has got to be one of the hardest working individuals in this company. After living in the new house for over a month now, I see Earl going around all the homes to be finished as early as 7am all the way past 7pm some nights. He is so good at his job. Always follows up with whatever I may have asked him. Always treats me and my family with kindness and professionalism. I initially went to Coventry (the other builder of the section) to shop their homes and tried to tour their models/builds. Tina, their salesperson, hates working past 6pm and complained outwardly to me on two separate occasions. I am self employed working 7 days a week till 5:30 every day. My 25 minute commute gives me 5 minutes to view homes and talk options? God forbid I have to keep her an extra 15 minutes past her work hours all while she potentially could have made some good money if I bought Coventry. Well I didn't. I suppose the housing market was so strong, she wouldn't care if I bought one of their houses or not. That's okay, because the next day, I walked in to Shea's model home and met Kim for the first time. She was more than happy to stay late to discuss their homes. Don't get me wrong, Shea has beautiful homes, but Kim was a huge reason we went with Shea. Our last home was a Lennar build and that was a disaster I wouldn't wish my worst enemy to endure. Three items: 1. Our experience to date with SheaConnect has not been pleasant. The WiFi shut down, taking the applications, plus our printer and the WiFi functions on my cell phone with it. 2. We can not add a security front door to our home because there is a beam on the ceiling that prevents a door from opening outward. I consider this a design flaw. 3. There is no electrical outlet on or in the area of the front porch. The steps are shaded and we need electric pads to melt snow and ice on the steps. Another flaw not obvious until winter arrives.

Easy people to deal with and take the time to listen. Great value and experience for a dream home.

First, I have bought 5 new homes, I will say that we love this home in general, but our beginning has been rough. Deanna was a great person to work with on the front end. House wasn't delivered clean, some things out of Shea control... type of insulation, garage door opener downgrade, dented fridge, no washer/dryer (have loaners). Busted kitchen cabinet, broken tiles all through kidtcen, also in master shower. Flooring issues, window blind too small, many little touch things that should have been done prior to delivery. Then to top it off, broken cable line, so we had zero internet/tv for first two weeks. The good news is that our long punch list is being worked on now, Adam has been an amazing help and overall the staff is very supportive. Biggest disappointment would have to be the tile issues, but other than that, it will eventually be a wonderful home! ... More

We had a fantastic experience purchasing our home through Shea Homes. The process from putting down a deposit to moving in is so streamlined and easy to understand. The Shea Homes team members are very professional and quick to respond to questions or concerns. In the current real estate market, purchasing a home can be a very stressful and daunting process. Buying through Shea Homes took all the stress off of bidding wars, losing offers, and all the other issues in buying a pre-existing home. The best part is that we did not have to endure living through a remodel. Most of the homes in our area are very old and out-of-date. Having an updated new home on the Monterey Peninsula is a rare find. I would not hesitate to buy through Shea Homes! ... More

Being at the beginning of a new community build has alot of kinks to work out. Fortunately, BreAnn and my Project Manager Will, along with my Warrantee person, Gus have been easy to work with and responsive. Along with many supply shortages, there have been significant shortages in Skilled labor which has caused delay and less than desirable end results with certain trades. Will and Breann and GUS (he's a GEM) have worked hard to remedy various issues.

Tina, Travis, Cody, Weston, James, Brooke, Julie and Marci were professional, nice, knowledgeable and very responsive. I have not one complaint. My home is beautiful and actually even better than I imagined. The floor plan is innovative and functions well. The build is sound and the choice of finishes made it difficult to stay on a budget which is very typical for me to struggle to stay within budget. The standard/included features are a cut above what other builders offer. The Canyons is an amazing community and I feel grateful to be able to live in such a great place. 90% of everything in our new home went well. The tile and closets subs should have done a better job.

The home itself is gorgeous with many upgrades in the standard package. Very spacious with huge kitchens . But the sales and communication staff lack any effort or desire for their jobs. They are unhelpful and do not inform you of community events.

I have some issues with the design of the house and the community, but overall Shea has done a great job. They have been very responsive taking corrective actions to the few issues that have come up in the 2 months that I have lived in the house.

Everyone we encountered has been professional. The sales reps were responsive, the designer was excellent, and the field managers were informative. There probably should be more than one person handling warranty issues and customer service after close of escrow. There seems to be disorganization and miscommunication there. The workmanship was generally as expected - middle-grade quality. Despite all the delays prior to closing, the home buying process with Shea Homes was an overall great experience!

Entire process from beginning to end was smooth. They kept us informed abd did constant walk throughs. We had a great project field manager to help us on our home. If you are considering buying a shea home, it will be worth the money, time, and a quality home!

Workmanship is poor with finish work and some structural

From to moment we met with the sales staff we had a great experience. Tammy was very helpful. The builder kept us updated on the progress and Dan is extremely helpful when an issue comes up after the build is complete.

The whole team has been very responsive to any issues we have had with our new home. Even small issues that arise they treat them as a big deal and are quick to respond.

Very beautiful home and community. Construction in general is high quality, and design of the home is well laid out, Energy efficient systems and automatic /wireless options are working well and convenient. Shea did well at keeping me apprised of construction progress and held to the promised dates for the construction steps. i rated responsiveness as a three as the warranty service processes seems to have some gaps that allow for concerns to fall through. One gap is that a service request disappeared after being acknowledged. the second is that i twice received letters saying that the service had been completed when it had not. I rated quality of workmanship as a four as i have found two problems with the electrical wiring. One was a dryer plugin wired incorrectly, the second was a ground wire left loosely connected that caused loss of power to the living room. ... More

I am going to begin with the positives. I am very pleased with the results of our home. I was very pleased with the responsiveness of the construction manager, Ryan. Ryan was also dedicated; however I feel the crew’s were spread too thin with over 30 new builds going at the same time. This resulted in multiple details being overlooked. Our punch list at the time of our walkthrough prior to closing was extensive with more than a dozen items. The most serious items were three separate previously undetected gas leaks. The connection to the swimming pool heater was not connected properly. There was leaking gas from the cooktop burners even when they were turned off. There was also later found a gas leak from the fireplace where a flexible pipe was mistakenly used instead of hardline pipe. The flexible pipe eroded where it was bent. This one was discovered 2 days after we moved in and could have been deadly. I give kudos to Ryan for staying with us at the house for six hours while the problem was repaired and the gas company could return to turn the gas back on and retest for further leaks. It has been over 2 months since we had our closing and we still have 4 unrepaired items from the punch list. These include a cracked window, an area of drywall in garage, garbage disposal dysfunction and an area of grouting. This seems excessive in its delay. I am very disappointed with the landscaping bushes. Other older areas of Shea homes in our development have much more extensive and colorful bushes. Lastly, it is my opinion that Shea’s policy of not providing visual documentation of the building process is outrageous. This is the fourth home I have built with different builders and this is the first time I’ve not been allowed to visualize the progress. I adamantly oppose this policy. ... More

My experience with Shea was very good from start to finish of home. Communication was great and no issues with Shea's responsiveness. Was given the name of a job site foreman who kept me posted along the way of construction, which included several walk throughs of the home before it was completed. I highly recommend Shea as a home builder.

Great credit to both Leslie and Jeannie for the extremely professional response to our needs as purchasers and for responding quickly to any inquiry. They made this experience, stress-free and enjoyable. We cannot say anymore about how wonderful our experience was. Thanks to them. The on-site crew, including Tanner, and Matt are excellent as well.
